2 Intrductin The Little Green Buttn (LGB) is a small, netwrk friendly applicatin designed as a cst effective panic buttn system fr general practice. Once yu click the dwnlad link during registratin n the Wiggly-Amps website, yu will be presented with the fllwing windw: Click the save buttn and anther windw will appear ffering yu a chice f lcatins t save this dwnlad. We recmmend that yu either save t an existing netwrk drive r create a new flder in yur C: drive called LGB and save it there. 2

3 Step 2 - Sharing. If yu did nt save the dwnlad t an existing netwrk drive, we need t share the newly created LGB Directry t allw access frm ther machines. 2.1 Windws 2000 T share the directry in Windws 2000, right click n the LGB directry. This will display a list f ptins, click n Sharing and yu will be presented with the windw shwn belw. This windw shuld pen n the Sharing Tab. Click the left muse buttn in the white circle here t select it. Nw click Ok and the windw will clse. 3

4 2.2 Windws XP Pr and Hme Windws XP is similar T Windws 2000, t share the flder: Click in the white square here t select it and then click OK t clse the windw. 2.3 Windws 98 Again it s similar t previus Windws versins. This time click in the share as circle...here then click the circle next t the wrd Full here and finish by clicking OK t clse the windw. 4

5 Step 3 Installing Lcally and Acrss the Netwrk. 3.1 Installing Lcally Ideally yu shuld install the first cpy f LGB t either the IT Manager s r Practice Manager s cmputer. This cmputer will becme the Registratin Master fr yur netwrk. Lcate the file yu dwnladed and duble click n lgbsetup.exe using the left muse buttn. This will install the prgram t yur machine. Once installed a windw will appear as shwn belw (fr advice n cmpleting each field, click n the blue questin marks). If this windw is nt displayed click n the Start buttn, select prgrams, Startup Little Green Buttn. When cmplete, click Dne. If yu want t receive alerts frm all Lcatin Grups, check the first bx. Check play sunds fr audi assistance alerts. Yu may hide the panic buttn frm the desktp. Yu can still panic by duble-clicking the icn in the system tray. The default setting is t prevent users exiting LGB LGB supprts a remte switch that cnnects thrugh yur serial prt, yu can cnfigure it s behaviur here. The buttn will appear as a yellw key n a grey backgrund, indicating that yur LGB is unlicensed. Yu will by nw have received an cntaining the activatin cde. T activate yur installatin: Right click n the buttn Select Register Paste the activatin cde ed t yu in the frm Click Activate The LGB shuld nw be green This PC will becme yur Registratin Master 5

6 3.2 Installing Acrss the Netwrk If yu saved the LGB dwnlad t a netwrk drive, yu shuld be able t view that drive frm the ther cmputers n yur netwrk. If yu shared a directry n yur cmputer as described in step2, yu will need t nte yur cmputer name fr the next stage. Duble click n Netwrk Neighburhd r My Netwrk Places (depending n perating system). After ding s, yu will see a windw similar t the ne belw. Windws 98, Windws 2000 and Windws XP are almst identical If yu d nt see any cmputers n the netwrk, duble click the Entire Netwrk icn with the left muse buttn. Then click the Micrsft Windws Netwrk Icn; this will then display yur wrkgrup(s). Nw duble click n the wrkgrup icn and yu will then see a list f cmputers n the Netwrk. Next, duble click n the cmputer name that yu dwnladed t, yu shuld see the LGB shared flder. Fllw the instructins in sectin 3.1 t install LGB n every cmputer n yur netwrk. Ensure yu enter a unique lcatin fr yur Registratin Master. When yu install LGB nt ther cmputers n yur netwrk, they shuld pick up the licence frm yur Registratin Master. If this des nt ccur autmatically the buttn will display the yellw key n a grey backgrund. T rectify: DO NOT try t enter a licence key (this can nly be used nce) G back t yur Registratin Master PC Right click n the buttn G t System tls and click Push licence t send the licence key t all LGBs n yur netwrk 6

7 Step 4 Testing and Training We recmmended that yu test that each PC n the netwrk can riginate and receive an assistance request. T d this, use the fllwing prcedure: This is much easier with tw f yu! Set the Registratin Master t Grup #5 Set the wrkstatin yu wish t test t Grup #5. Originate a Panic n the Registratin Master Check the ntificatin n the wrkstatin Acknwledge the panic Check the alert is cleared n the Registratin Master Set the Panic grup back t what it shuld be (Usually Grup #1 ) When cmplete, remember t set the Registratin Master back t it s default grup. Training is best achieved in a dedicated sessin where everyne is at their usual place f wrk. We recmmend that a simple practice prtcl is develped fr the guidance f yur staff. Purchasing LGB If yu decide that yu like the LGB and want t purchase a year s licence, fllw these steps: Right click n the buttn Select Licencing Check yur details, then read the agreement and statement n this page Check the bx t purchase a 12 mnth licence and click submit An invice will be generated fr yu t print and actin Please nte that we d nt send yu an invice Renewing LGB The Registratin Master will remind yu that yur licence renewal is due with 2 weeks t run. If the licence is nt renewed, all LGBs start reminding yu with 5 days t g. The renewal prcedure is the same as that fr initial purchase. 7

8 Netwrk and Sftware Issues N aplgies, it gets a little techie in this sectin! 99% f the time, the LGB will run straight ut f the bx, but if yu d encunter prblems the fllwing may help. What netwrking requirements are there? The LGB requires the clients t have TCP/IP installed. It is unlikely that yu are running a cmputer that des nt supprt this ppular prtcl, but nte that sme early installatins f Windws 98 did nt install this by default. We strngly advise the use f a switched netwrk rather than hubs, there is a theretical (i.e. very small!) pssibility that sme machines n a saturated, unswitched netwrk will miss a request fr assistance. Mdern netwrk switches are relatively cheap and will prvide an verall imprvement t the perfrmance f yur netwrk. Hw des it wrk n my netwrk? The LGB bradcasts message t any panic buttn n yur netwrk. LGB is set t limit yu t ne subnet when installed if yu have a branch site n a separate subnet, please call us and we ll add the capacity t yur licence. If yu have a very large and cmplicated netwrk (E.g. a hspital site), we may charge an additinal fee t reflect the increased supprt liability. We need t re-ip ur Netwrk any issues? Nt a prblem, please let us knw when yu are ging t change and we ll ensure that yur details are updated. Can I give a cpy t anther site t trial? By all means! But d NOT give them yur trial key ask them t g thrugh the sign-up prcess n line and get their wn key. Yurs will nt wrk fr them anyway. I think my Firewall is messing things up! Whether yu are running a persnal firewall (such as ZneAlarm r XP SP2) r yu have a hardware firewall smewhere n yur netwrk, it is a simple matter t get the LGB running. The applicatin cmmunicates thrugh Prts 8080/UDP and 8081/TCP, s refer t yur firewall s cnfiguratin instructins and allw traffic n these prts. As an aside, prt 8080 smetimes used by McAfee Anti-virus suite. If this is the case, the LGB will prmpt yu t chse anther prt. It is imprtant that all machines use the same prt. Our system is already slw will it slw things further? The LGB is a small applicatin that uses minimal resurces n the client PCs. Netwrk traffic is negligible as the client LGBs nly talk when there is an active assistance request. The Master will bradcast a shrt message peridically t keep the licences n the clients up t date and that s it! 8

9 Is it cmpatible with ur ther sftware? Other than a minr cnflict with McAfee e-plicy rchestratr (Nt the anti-virus package itself), we have nt fund any cnflicts with ther sftware. Nte that LGB will manage this cnflictin fr yu. It s great, but why shuld I give yu an endrsement / feedback? S yu can get up in the mrning and lk in the mirrr with a clean cnscience r we may decide t give yu a freebie f sme kind. Thanks but n thanks hw d I get rid f this thing?!
