This guide will ensure that you have the best experience possible with. Getting Started To start accessing Remote Desktop Services, go directly to the section for your device type by clicking one of these links: Web Browser Windows Mac iphone/ipad Remote Desktop Connection Once is launched; make a connection to see your office computer's desktop as if you were sitting right in front of it and have access to all its programs and files. 2 Windows Web Browser How do I access Remote Desktop using a web browser? 1.) Open a web browser In the address bar, enter 2.) Click the Download button to download the Remote Desktop Protocol (.RDP) file. As an option, this RDP file can be copied to your computer s desktop as a convenient method to access RD in the future. Figure 1 3.) Your experience during this step will depend on the web browser used to connect to RD. Internet Explorer i. Click the Save button when prompted by the browser. The RDP file will be saved to your Downloads folder. ii. Once the RDP file download completes, click the Open button to connect to RD. Chrome i. The RDP file will automatically be saved to your Downloads folder. The RDP file will be displayed in the Download Bar in the lower-left corner of the browser. ii. Click the RDP file displayed in the Download Bar to connect to RD. Firefox i. Select Save File and click the OK button. The RDP file will be saved to your Downloads folder. ii. 3 Windows 4.) If prompted, check the box Don t ask me again for remote connections from this publisher, then click the Connect button. 5.) Enter your AIR credentials in the format username@air.org, and password, then click the OK button. 6.) Check the box I understand and agree to the terms of this policy, then click the OK button. 7.) 4 Windows How do I use the full Windows Client? As referenced in step 2 in the Web Brower section above, you have the option of copying the RDP file from your Downloads folder to your computer s desktop for convenience. 1. Locate the RDP file in your Downloads folder 2. Use the Copy/Paste or Drag & Drop method to transfer the RDP file to your computer s desktop 3. Double-click the AIR_RDS.RDP icon located on your Desktop 4. If prompted, check the box Don t ask me again for remote connections from this publisher, then click the Connect button. 5. 6 Mac Mac How do I connect from Mac OSX? 1.) If it is not already installed on your Mac, visit the Mac App Store and download Microsoft Remote Desktop 10 2.) After you select Get you will be prompted to enter your Apple ID Password and click Sign In. 3.) Open Safari and go to URL 4.) Click download 5.) Go to Downloads and double click the rdp file that was just downloaded 6.) Enter your AIR credentials in the format username@air.org, and password, then click the OK button 7.) 7 ipad iphone/ipad How do I use the iphone/ipad Client? 1.) If it is not already installed, go to the Apple App Store and search for Microsoft Remote Desktop 2.) Select Get and then Install Note: You may be prompted for your Apple ID password on your Apple device. 3.) Select the RD client on your mobile device. 4.) Select the + symbol on the top right of the screen. 5.) Select Desktop 6.) In the PC Name field, type rd-us-west.air.org and select Done 7.) 8 ipad 8.) Select Additional Options, then select Gateway 9.) Select Add Gateway 10.) In the Gateway Name field, type rdgateway-us-west.air.org and select Done 11.) In the User Account field, ensure Use desktop user account is selected 12.) Select Save twice 13.) Select the connection you just created 14.) When prompted, enter your AIR address and password 15.) Select Done 16.) Approve the two-factor authentication on your primary device. 17.) After you are finished with your remote session select Start and Log Off. 10 Remote Desktop Connection Remote desktop connection Access office computer desktop, programs, and files from within Remote Desktop To Remote Desktop to an office computer: That computer must be turned on, you can t connect to a computer that's asleep or hibernating, so make sure the settings for sleep and hibernation on the remote computer are set to Never. You must have network access to the remote computer (this is done through Remote Desktop Services) You must have permission to connect. For permission to connect, you must be on the list of users. Contact the IT Service Desk to grant you permission to access Remote Desktop Connection to your office computer. 1.) Once is launched; Click the Start button > click Programs > click Accessories > and then click Remote Desktop Connection 2.) In the Remote Desktop Connection window, enter your computer name in the Computer: field NOTE: If you don t know the name of the computer, follow these steps to find your Computer name. 11 Remote Desktop Connection 3.) Click the Connect button. 4.) In the Windows Security window, enter your AIR Password 5.) Click the OK button. How do I find my Computer name? 1.) Frequently asked questions (FAQ) Question: How do I access my office computer desktop, programs and files? Answer: Follow the instructions in the Remote Desktop Connection section of this Guide. Question: How do I access the AIR home and share drives? Answer: There are two different methods. 1. Double-click the Computer icon on the Desktop 2. Click Start Click Computer Select the drive you would like to access Question: Can I transfer files to and from my local computer and the AIR network drives? Answer: No, you cannot copy and paste between a drive on your local computer (i.e. C: drive) and an AIR network drive while logged into Remote Desktop Services. 13 Remote Desktop Connection Question: Can I print to my local default printer? Answer: Yes. After selecting the Print function in your current application, click the printer drop-down menu, then select the printer with the tag of redirected. Question: Does Support multiple monitors? Answer: Yes, on Windows only, using the web based interface or the full client. Question: Will AIR RDS automatically log me off of my current session? Answer: Yes, after 2 hours you will be logged off of your AIR RDS session and any open applications will automatically be closed. Question: How do I properly disconnect from?
