5 1 General 1.1 Audience and scope This manual outlines the installation of the Wireless Location System (WLS), the database server and/or the database connection, the application software (Agilion clients) and various tools for the WLS. The manual refers to version of the WLS on a Windows 10 computer. Administrator privileges are required in order to carry out the installation properly. Furthermore, the installation should be carried out by staff with fundamental knowledge of database administration. 1.2 Overview of the WLS The system manual provided as part of the documentation of the WLS imparts an important overview of the WLS. 7 2.2 Installable software components The following software components will be installed during the installation process described hereafter: Optional database software (32/64 Bit): o o o o Microsoft SQL-Server 2014 Express database server or driver only Microsoft SQL-Server 2016 Express database server or driver only Oracle ODBC Driver (no database server) PostgreSQL ODBC Driver (32 Bit) (no database server; driver also works with 64 Bit version of PostgreSQL) Notice Due to the arising amount of data it is strongly advised not to use a SQL Express database server for WLSs operating with more than 100 transponders. WLS server, and Several localization clients and tools The particular components can be installed onto a single PC or onto various PCs within the network. Special knowledge is required in order to spread the server services onto several PCs. Furthermore, it has to be has to be executed manually. It is possible to utilize a database server already in place by connecting it to the localization software. A reboot of the computer may be required after the installation of all components. 8 3 Installation 3.1 Software components in detail The WLS server is the central control unit of the WLS. The server controls access to the several parts of the localization network and carries out the computation of the positions. Following table lists the software components of WLS in detail and the documents made available by installing the WLS. All components can be installed using the installation file Setup WLS. 9 3.2 User information and installation path Execute the installation file Setup WIRELESS LOCATION SYSTEM.exe by double-clicking it. First of all the setup assistant s welcome screen will appear. Close all other applications before continuing with the installation, if possible. Enter the user information (name, name of your organization) into the appropriate fields. 10 The next dialogue box enables to choose both path and destination folder for the installation according to your requirements. By default the software will be installed into the standard program folder in Windows operating systems and there into the subfolder Agilion, e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\agilion in Windows Selection of components The following dialog box allows the selection of components for installation according to individual demands. The groups of components were described above in section 3.1. It is possible to select one out of Full installation, Compact installation and Custom installation from the drop-down menu. In any case, check the database server or database driver selected. The Microsoft Windows SQL-Server 2016 database is the preselected default database server for the WLS. Alternatively, you may use an Oracle database server 10g or higher or a PostgreSQL database server. In this case, the setup facilitates the installation of the appropriate ODBC driver, though the Oracle or PostgreSQL database software itself is not included in the installation package. In case you use an older operating system, some Required components may be selected automatically should they be required for running the WLS. 10 Installation manual, 10/2018, C79000-G8976-C536-01

11 Usually the installation of the appropriate ODBC drivers is only required when the WLS is not running on the same computer as the database server. Hence, select one of these drivers only in case you are about to install the WLS onto a different computer than the one hosting the database server. The actual installation of the components selected will be carried out after entering all information into the software installer s GUI, in other words, quite a bit further down the line Full installation We recommend full installation, provided that: You want to install the entire software package onto a single computer You want to install Microsoft Windows SQL-Express database software Compact installation Consider this option, provided that: You do not wish to install various tools and the documentation at all or if you wish to spread them amongst several computers Custom installation Custom installation allows you to select the components for installation according to you specific needs, e.g. when using another database server than Mircrosoft.SQL-Express. 12 3.3.4 Start menu folder The dialog Select Start menu folder enables you to select a folder for the program linkage within the Windows Start menu. 13 3.3.5 Microsoft Windows SQL-Server 2014/2016 Following dialogue box will appear In case you have selected a Microsoft Windows SQL- Express server. The software will be installed into the standard program folder in Windows operating systems by default and there into the subfolder Microsoft SQL Server, e.g. C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server in Windows 10. The default subfolder for datasets is Data Oracle ODBC driver The Oracle database server has to be installed before running the WLS installation. Also before the installation of the WLS, the following authorizations have to be allocated for LocSystem in order to safeguard the creation of a database and the connection to the WLS. 14 The following dialogue box will appear to select the installation directory for the driver, if you have selected the Oracle ODBC Driver. The driver will be installed into the standard program folder in Windows operating systems by default and there into the subfolder Oracle, e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\oracle\instantclient_11_2 in Windows 10, though you are free to select any other directory. 14 Installation manual, 10/2018, C79000-G8976-C536-01

15 3.3.7 PostgreSQL ODBC driver Install the PostgreSQL database server corresponding to your system architecture (32 or 64 Bit) before executing the WLS installer. The installation of PostgreSQL requires a password. It is absolutely necessary to memorize this password as it will be required during the WLS installation in order to connect the database server to the WLS. We recommend to also install (select) the pgadmin whilst installing PostgreSQL. Concerning the configuration and installation of the database, further differences compared to the standard installation are outlined in paragraph Installation manual, 10/2018, C79000-G8976-Cxxx-01 15

16 3.4 Configuration and installation of the database The next step is to select the directories for newly installed databases and drivers. This screen does not appear, if none of these components are getting installed. In case it is not selected automatically, select the newly installed database server type in the screen Database type analogous to the selection made within the screen Select components (3.3). Insofar as a database server is in place already, select it in the screen accordingly to make sure the WLS can create a database and connect to it correctly. 16 Installation manual, 10/2018, C79000-G8976-C536-01

17 Select whether a new database should be installed or created, an existing database should be overwritten or upgraded or be used the way it is, regardless of the type of database utilized. Any database server other than SQL Express has to be installed before running the WLS installer Microsoft SQL The entries into the following dialogue box are only relevant during installation. The password prompt is necessary to create or use a valid administrator s access for the SQL database. The default username is sa accompanied by the password Agilion2018. 18 Notice The current WLS installer asks for the WLS license in the following dialog. Please find details concerning the license dialog further down the document under 3.5.License file. For reasons of clarity of this document we ll continue with the database configuration. Set or state the username and password for the database in the next dialog. By default, these are LocSystem and Agilion2018 respectively. Enter the appropriate access data in case you utilize an already existing database. This information is exclusively required for the connection between the Agilion server and the database. The input field Database server requires you to enter the network name of the computer the database server is situated on. The default setting is the name of the current machine, though in this case localhost may be used as well. 19 3.4.2 Oracle ODBC The entries into the following dialogue box are only relevant during installation. The access data is required to utilize this user with administrative rights during the installation of the WLS. The default user is sys or system. It is possible, though, to alternatively employ an internally assigned user with administrative rights. Ask your database administrator for the correct password. Notice The current WLS installer asks for the WLS license in the following dialog. Please find details concerning the license dialog further down the document under 3.5.License file. For reasons of clarity of this document we ll continue with the database configuration. Use the username and password for the database determined before in the next dialogue (cf ). In accordance with that example they are LOCSYSSTEM and password. Use the appropriate login data when using an already existing database. These data are required for the connection between the Agilion server and the database during ongoing operation. The input field Database server requires you to enter the network name of the computer the database server is situated on. The default setting is the name of the current machine, though in this case localhost may be used as well. Database name/driver reflects the name of the Oracle Instant client to be used. 20 3.4.3 PostgreSQL ODBC The entries into the following dialogue box are only relevant during installation. The access data is required to utilize this user with administrative rights during the installation of the WLS. The default user is postgres. Combine it with the password used during the installation of the database (cf ). It is possible, though, to alternatively employ an internally assigned user with administrative rights. 21 Notice The current WLS installer asks for the WLS license in the following dialog. Please find details concerning the license dialog further down the document under 3.5.License file. For reasons of clarity of this document we ll continue with the database configuration. Use the following values for the database configuration minding case sensitivity. The driver required to connect the WLS to a PostgreSQL database will be supplied by another installer prompted during the execution of the WLS installation. This additional installer enables to install the ODBC driver to any desired directory. Installation manual, 10/2018, C79000-G8976-Cxxx-01 21

22 3.5 License file Import the WLS license file via this dialog box. Press the button Select license file and then navigate to the directory containing the license to select it. The license file has not necessarily to be imported into the WLS at this point. This step can be carried out manually at a later stage by copying said file into the WLS installation directory (usually C:\Program files (x86)\agilion\server\licenses). A license is inevitable for using the WLS. Press the button Next to proceed to the installation overview. Notice Installation of the entire software according to the settings made will be executed by pressing Install in the following window. Should you wish to alter any of the settings made, please press Back. 22 Installation manual, 10/2018, C79000-G8976-C536-01

23 The WLS services will be started automatically on system boot up. You may change the startup type to manual in the Windows services configuration. Furthermore, they can be started or stopped in the Windows Start Menu from the Agilion directory (or a different folder, if you have created one) under Start > All Programs > Agilion > Start/Stop Services Installation manual, 10/2018, C79000-G8976-Cxxx-01 23

24 4 Settings The localization network is ready for use immediately after the software installation. In case an already existing database is used, it might be necessary to make a few further settings before the WLS can connect to the database and the localization network is usable. 4.1 Set up an gateway The gateway establishes a connection between radio network and WLS. The gateway will be integrated into an existing TCP/IP-network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Agilion usually supplies gateways with the following default settings: Module IP address Subnet mask Gateway (deactivated) Server IP address The Server IP address constitutes the address of the WLS server. Notice A possibly existing firewall on the WLS server has to open at least port 1010 for incoming connections from the gateway on port For the connections of clients, port 9501 of the client communication server has to be opened. Enable access via port 9500 insofar the WLS DataExportService is utilized. In the case that the default settings cannot be used, those settings have to be changed manually using the tool IP Configuration. Where required, IP addresses within your network have to be allocated for the gateway. Depending on the type of gateway used, the IP configuration can be carried out via Ethernet, WLAN or a serial connection. Insofar as the gateway cannot be operated in the network due to address conflicts, configuration via serial connection is envisaged. 24 Installation manual, 10/2018, C79000-G8976-C536-01

25 4.1.1 Setup using the TCP/IP protocol Connect the gateway to the network and switch it on. Halt the WLS services under Start > All Programs > Agilion > Stop Services and subsequently start the tool IP Configuration under Start > All Programs > Agilion > IP Configuration or the user-defined path respectively. Select TCP-IP connection from the drop-down menu. The module IP address and port 1010 are displayed by default. A list containing every available device will be displayed when pressing the button to the right of the address array. Should devices be missing on that list, press the button XPort Search at the low edge of the list. Highlight the desired device and press the button Select for its IP address being transferred straight into the address array. Alternatively, you may enter the device s IP address into the array Addr directly. Installation manual, 10/2018, C79000-G8976-Cxxx-01 25

26 By pressing Open the data from the gateway will be read and displayed in the input field Gateway Configuration. The gateway s network address within the localization network (NWAddr.) is displayed for good measure and double-checking whether or not the desired gateway is configured. The same address is printed on the device s label. Mind pressing the button Set insofar you have made any changes within the section Gateway Configuration. This will save the parameters to the gateway permanently. Press the button read in order to discard any changes made in that section. The original values will be read from the device. Use the changed IP address whenever you try to read the settings anew. Settings can only be changed, when the gateway is not connected to the WLS server. Therefore, the server has to be stopped ( Start > All Programs > Agilion > Stop Services ). 26 Installation manual, 10/2018, C79000-G8976-C536-01

27 4.1.2 Setup using the SNMP protocol Certain gateways can only be configured with the SNMP protocol. Set the connection mode of the tool IP configuration accordingly. Apart from that proceed with the configuration as lined out for the TCP/IP protocol (see 4.1.1), though devices missing on the list can be found via the button SNMP Search. It is not necessary to stop the services when configuring a device via SNMP. Installation manual, 10/2018, C79000-G8976-Cxxx-01 27

28 4.1.3 Setup via serial connection Not all designs of the gateway are equipped with a serial interface. Consequently, settings on devices without a COM-Port have to be made as described in or The gateway has to be connected to any PC, preferably the WLS server, via a serial connection. After starting the tool IP Configuration under Start > All Programs > Agilion > IP Configuration select Serial connection and the appropriate serial (COM) port from the respective drop-down menus. By pressing the button Open the current settings will be read from the gateway and displayed in the input field Gateway configuration. Mind pressing the button Set insofar you have made any changes within the section Gateway Configuration. This will save the parameters to the gateway permanently. Press the button read in order to discard any changes made in that section. The original values will be read from the device. Use the changed IP address whenever you try to read the settings anew. Settings can only be changed, when the gateway is not connected to the localization server. Therefore, the server has to be stopped ( Start > All Programs > Agilion > Stop Services ). 4.2 Network configuration Upon the start of the localization server, the powered gateway establishes a connection between radio network and WLS server New gateways will be added to the system automatically, provided that it has been put into operation correctly according to 4. Initially, the devices are not custom named or activated. Anchors will be added to the WLS via the exploration (see below). Transponders will also be added to the WLS automatically as soon as they are switched on and within radio distance of an active gateway or anchor. 29 Use the client Network Configuration ( Start > All Programs > Agilion > Network Configuration ) to configure and activate the devices for utilization within the localization network. Initially, a connection has to be established after opening that program. Press the button Connect to prompt the user login dialogue. The default username is Administrator, the default password Agilion. After logging in and connecting, this password can be changed under Options > Change password. Notice A firewall possibly existing on the WLS server has to open at least Port 8000 for incoming connections from the gateway. For connections of clients, port 9500 of the client communication server has to be opened. Insofar as a client running on another computer shall be able to access the server, port 9501 has to be opened additionally. Exploration At least one of the radio network s gateways has to be active in order to search nodes (anchors and gateways not found automatically). Therefore, select the desired gateway in the hierarchic structure and check the box Use in network. Press Save to confirm the change made. Installation manual, 10/2018, C79000-G8976-Cxxx-01 29

30 Now select System > Network within the hierarchic structure to start the exploration. The client then tries to find and activate all nodes within range. This process may take a few minutes. In any case mind the pop-up window at the end of the exploration process. Devices explored without activation have to be activated manually in order to utilize them for the localization. Initially, all directly accessible nodes (gateways, anchors) will be added to their respective groups, and, if necessary, configured for network communication. Thereafter, all devices only accessible indirectly will be added. The exploration halts automatically as soon as no further nodes can be found. Progress of the exploration is displayed in the log window. A distinct network address is provided for all found nodes. Particular devices can be identified according to this address and the address printed on the device s label. This is in particular important for localization networks where the positions of the devices are entered manually or in order to identify that have been mounted at a different position than planned. 30 Installation manual, 10/2018, C79000-G8976-C536-01

31 The next step would be to import the csv-file containing the device positions determined by a surveyor ahead of the commissioning of the WLS. You may enter the device positions manually for very small or demonstration networks. Mind to press save every time you have entered the position for one device. The transponders are the locatable devices within the location network. The system registers them automatically, but they have to be sorted into the desired group and manually configured for utilization within the localization network. This means that both the Use in network and Localization boxes have to be ticked (on the screen of the transponder) and that the transponder group is allocated to at least one localization area. 4.3 Visualization The transponder position computed by the WLS is graphically displayed, in relation to the point of origin, in the visualization. Initially after opening the visualization client under Start > All Programs > Agilion > 2D View a blank map with markings representing the distance of one meter both horizontally and verticall is displayed. For this client, too, the connection has to be established as described above in 4.2. The blank map can be replaced by any picture in bitmap or jpg format. This might be, for instance, a floor map or an aerial image. The way to assign a new map is described in the localization configuration manual as well as every other setting required to be made and, for instance, how to scale the view.
