Chapter 3: Overview The following sections provide an overview of the Avaya Desktop Communication Enablement (DCE) applications and the conceptual information to help you build the installation packages using the Configurator. Navigation DCE applications on page 11 DCE applications interworking with Avaya Flare Experience on page 13 User profile for DCE users on page 13 Configurator on page 14 DCE applications See the following sections for a description of the Avaya DCE applications: Browser Add-in application on page 11 Office Add-in application on page 12 Notification Service on page 12 Lync Integration on page 12 Browser Add-in application The Avaya DCE Browser Add-in provides Microsoft Internet Explorer users with the ability to initiate a call directly from any given web page that contains valid telephone numbers. The application searches through the web page and marks any valid numbers. When a user rolls the cursor over the marked element, a button appears. The user can click the button to initiate a call from the user s primary device. Note: Phone numbers are not highlighted in Outlook Web Mail. Microsoft blocks add-ins from accessing or editing content in an body with the web version of Outlook. Configurator for Desktop Communication Enablement Fundamentals July

Overview Office Add-in application The Avaya DCE Office Add-in communication-enables the Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Office 2010 suites. Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 users can use the Office Add-in to select an address in an Outlook item (Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks) and initiate a call with a simple click. The Office Add-in provides a Smart Tag that recognizes telephone numbers within Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, Power Point presentations, and within the body of an displayed in Outlook. The Office Add-in also integrates with the person names Smart Tag to provide the Call option to a person's telephone number. The main features of the Office Add-in are as follows: Click-to-call allows users to quickly and simply make a call to a selected contact. Click-to-join conference allows users to join a conference call from an Outlook appointment item without having to enter the conference bridge or pass code details. When users create a new appointment in their Outlook calendars, the Office Add-in populates the location field with the user's conference bridge details. Notification Service The Avaya Desktop Communication Enablement (DCE) Notification Service presents incoming and outgoing call notifications on a user's desktop. The DCE Notification Service can integrate with the Microsoft Dynamics or Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) environments to add real-time communications to CRM workflows, such as click-to-dial from contact lists and customer records (when running the Browser Add-in), as well as call notification with the incoming or outgoing call contact information as defined in the CRM tool. The Notification Service without CRM integration is also available. In this case, users get the call notifications on their desktops, but the do not have access to the information in the CRM database. Important: The DCE Notification Service cannot integrate with the Avaya Microsoft Lync Integration or the Avaya Microsoft Office Communicator Add-in. Lync Integration The Avaya Microsoft Lync Integration and Microsoft Communicator Add-in are lightweight addins that seamlessly integrate with the Microsoft Lync client and Microsoft Communicator client look-and-feel to provide telephony capabilities. 12 Configurator for Desktop Communication Enablement Fundamentals July 2013 Comments? infodev@avaya.com

DCE applications interworking with Avaya Flare Experience for Windows In this document, the term Lync Integration is used to refer to both Lync Integration and the Communicator Add-in. For the complete description and installation information for Lync Integration, see Avaya Microsoft Lync Integration and Microsoft Office Communicator Add-in Fundamentals for Avaya Aura (NN ) or Avaya Microsoft Lync Integration and Microsoft Office Communicator Add-in Fundamentals for Avaya CS 1000 and Cisco Unified Communication Manager ( ). The Browser Add-in and Office Add-in applications can integrate with the Avaya Lync Integration to provide a unified user experience. When a user initiates a call using either the Browser or Office Add-in, the user is presented with a Lync Integration conversation window indicating the status of the call. The user's primary device must be set to the device that was created for the Lync Integration, namely the work number provisioned against the Office Communications Server (OCS) user. Important: The DCE Notification Service cannot integrate with the Avaya Microsoft Lync Integration or the Avaya Microsoft Office Communicator Add-in. DCE applications interworking with Avaya Flare Experience for Windows When a user initiates a click-to-call from the Browser Add-in or Office Add-in, and the user's primary communications experience is Avaya Flare Experience, the call appears in the Flare spotlight as if the user originated the call directly from the client. From this point on, the Flare User Experience controls the call with no further call control provided on the desktop. Note: The DCE Notification Service is not currently supported in conjunction with Flare endpoints. User profile for DCE users Users of the DCE applications must have an Avaya ACE user profile. Configurator for Desktop Communication Enablement Fundamentals July

Overview Important: This section does not apply to Avaya Aura based Lync deployments or to Avaya Flare and Avaya one-x Communicator client deployments without Avaya ACE. When creating an Avaya ACE user profile for a DCE user, ensure that the Avaya ACE is configured in Integrated Windows Authentication (IWA) mode and that the user's Avaya ACE user ID matches the user's Windows account username. Configurator The Avaya Configurator is an administrative tool that you use to configure and build the DCE application installation packages prior to distribution to end users. The Configurator installation package is available on the Avaya Applications disk in the Desktop Communications Enablement (DCE) folder. Administrators must have Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 to run the Configurator installation package. For a complete list of system requirements, see Configurator requirements on page 19. DCE In the Configurator wizard's ACE Configuration screen, you must enter the URL for the Avaya ACE that is hosting the applications. Avaya ACE configuration is not required for Avaya Aura based Lync deployments or if the user has an Avaya Flare or an Avaya one-x Communicator client. When you run a Configurator build, you always build the installation packages for the Browser Add-in and Office Add-in. If you are not deploying with Lync Integration, a Flare client, or an Avaya one-x Communicator, you also build the installation package for the DCE Notification Service. Use the Custom Rule Creator to create the Browser Add-in Custom Rule (bacr) and Office Add-in Custom Rule (oacr) files. These files contain the custom number and pattern matching rules to be included in the corresponding add-in installation package. With the Browser Addin Custom Rule Creator, you can define a custom rule for a particular subnet and the URL matching scheme. With the Office Add-in Custom Rule Creator, you can define Smart Tag custom rules and the conference dialer pattern matching rule for the click-to-join conference feature. CRM Integration To integrate the Notification Service with Microsoft Dynamics or Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) environments, enable CRM integration in the CRM Integration screen and configure the installation package for CRM integration. Avaya Flare and Avaya one-x Communicator client deployments You can choose to deploy an Avaya Flare client or an Avaya one-x Communicator client for the Office and Browser Add-ins in the Client Deployment screen. 14 Configurator for Desktop Communication Enablement Fundamentals July 2013 Comments? infodev@avaya.com

Configurator Important: If you choose to deploy an Avaya Flare or an Avaya one-x Communicator client, you cannot deploy Lync Integration. The DCE Notification Service cannot integrate with an Avaya Flare client or an Avaya one- X Communicator client. Lync Integration For Lync Integration, enable Lync integration in the Client Deployment screen and configure the installation package for Lync integration. You can include this installation package with the builds of the Browser Add-in and Office Addin installation packages. Important: The DCE Notification Service cannot integrate with Avaya Microsoft Lync Integration or the Avaya Microsoft Office Communicator Add-in. For more information on the Avaya Lync Integration solution and requirements, including using the Configurator to build the installation package, see Avaya Microsoft Lync Integration and Microsoft Office Communicator Add-in Fundamentals for Avaya Aura (NN ) and Avaya Microsoft Lync Integration and Microsoft Office Communicator Add-in Fundamentals for Avaya CS 1000 and Cisco Unified Communication Manager ( ). 20 System requirements Important: Following the installation of the Browser Add-in, when users launch IE 9 for the first time, they must enable the Browser Add-in at the prompt, and then restart IE 9. Important: Microsoft Internet Explorer separates Browser Add-in data for sites in different security zones. As a result, if a user makes changes to, for example, the highlighting style, or enables and disables the add-in, these changes do not propagate to windows or tabs that are showing pages in different security zones. For example, if a user views a site in a protectedmode security zone, and views another site in an unprotected-mode security zone in another tab or window, changes to one do not propagate to the other. This applies to Internet Explorer 7, 8, and 9 running on Windows 7. Table 2: Browser Add-in requirements for end users Software prerequisites Supported OS Supported browsers Privileges Users must have the following software installed on their systems before running the Browser Add-in installer.
