4 1. Introduction This document describes the procedure for configuring of Windows servers. When you use any shared printer on the print server can be displayed in a Web browser. The printer can be installed by users and some basic management functions can be performed. 2. Target Readers This document is intended for the support staff of Ricoh family group companies and their subsidiaries. Understanding of Point and Print required. Page 4 of 9

5 3. Configuration of the Windows Server 3-1 Preparation of Windows Server 2003 Step 1) Open Control Panel and then click Add or Remove Programs. Step 2) Click Add/Remove Windows Components. Step 3) Check the Application Server check box, and then click Details. Step 4) Check the Internet Information Services [IIS] check box, and then click Details. Page 5 of 9

6 Step5) Check the Internet Printing and World Wide Web Service boxes, and then click OK. Step6) Click OK again to return to the screen from Step 3, then click Finish. Note: You may be prompted for the Windows Server 2003 CD to complete the installation. Step7) Install printer drivers and share them with the desired permissions. Page 6 of 9

7 3-1-2 Windows 2000 Server Step1) Open Control Panel and then click Add or Remove Programs. Step2) Click Add/Remove Windows Components. Step3) Check the Internet Information Services (IIS) check box, and then click Details. Step4) Check the World Wide Web Server check box, and then click OK. Step5) Click Next, and then click Finish. Note: You may be prompted for the Windows 2000 Server CD to complete the installation. Step6) Install printer drivers and share them with the desired permissions. Page 7 of 9

8 4. Installing the Printer Driver on the Client When the client uses, the server downloads the appropriate printer driver to the client computer. The installed printer is displayed in the Printers folder on the client. Step1) Enter in the address bar of a web browser. You will see a web page listing the printers shared, as shown in the image below. Click the printer that you want to install. Note: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP Address of the print server. Step2) Click Connect under PRINTER ACTIONS. You will see the following screen if successful. Page 8 of 9

9 5. Management of Printers and Queues A client can remotely manage the printer and any queued jobs on the print server by using Web Point and Print. You have to give appropriate permissions to let a client manage printers and any queued jobs for logically connected printers to a server. The status of each printer can be confirmed in this list. Status is the status of the printer (printer is paused, ready, etc.) and Jobs is the number of documents in the queue now. If you want to see queue contents, click the printer name. When the printer name is clicked, you will see a screen like the below image. You can manage the printer and documents in the queue on this page. For example, you can pause the queue and delete jobs, etc. When All Printers under VIEW is clicked, you will return to the top page. Page 9 of 9
