1 Setup for LAUSDnet - Windows 95/98/ME Revised 8/1/2001 Dial Up Networking Setup The following assumes that the Dial-Up Networking portions of Windows 95/98/ME have already been installed. If they have not, please refer to your Windows 95/98/ME Installation Manual for instructions on how to install Dial up Networking. Also, you may have a different version of Windows 95/98/ME, or may have purchased Microsoft Plus. Some of these versions of Windows have an Internet Wizard designed to help you configure Dial-up Networking. Just apply the information below in the appropriate places during the "wizard" installation process. You will do this procedure only once to set up the TCPIP software. 1. Double-click on "My Computer" icon 2. Double click on the "Dial-Up Networking" folder 3. Double click on "Make A New Connection" 4. For the name, type LAUSDnet 5. Click on "Next" 6. Click on "Add" 2. Click on "Client" 3. Click on "Add" (there may be a pause to build a driver information database) 4. Select "Microsoft" from the list of manufacturers on the left 5. Select "Client for Microsoft Networks" on the right 6. Click "Ok" 7. Verify that Client for Microsoft Networks has been added to the list 8. Also, make sure that Client for Microsoft Networks is selected for the Primary Network Logon. Click in the Primary Network Logon box to select it if necessary. 9. If you need to install additional components, skip to that set of instructions now 10. If no more components need to be added, click OK. 11.You may see a message telling you that names need to be entered on the Identification tab Click on the Identification tab and unless you are networking computers together with cabling, you may enter anything you please for the computer name, workgroup name and computer description. "Default" and blank entries are not permissable. 12. You may see a message saying "Copying Files..." OR... there may be a message requesting that you insert the Windows 95/98/ME CD ROM or diskettes. If that happens, insert the CD in the CD drive and Click OK If successful, there will be a message saying "Copying Files..." 13. When the files have finished being copied, you will see a message asking to restart the computer. Click on "Yes" to restart your computer
