2 C-Bus OPC Server INTRODUCTION C-BUS OPC SERVER DESCRIPTION The C-Bus OPC Server provides a gateway between C-Bus and the OPC (Data Access, Alarm and Event) protocols. OPC is a broadly supported communications standard supported by many building management systems (BMS) and a large selection of general automation applications. OPC clients can be used to provide a user interface to C-Bus as well as sophisticated alarms, event management, data logging and trending. OPC servers can also be linked together using third party tools to bridge C-Bus to hundreds of other protocols like Modbus and BACNet, as well as most PLCs. The C-Bus OPC Server is specifically designed for high availability in large commercial installations, but is equally suited for small projects where specific requirements are not met by existing C-Bus products. 3 OPC Server Release Notes June 2016 WINDOWS 10 CREATORS UPDATE This release includes fixes necessary to allow OPC Server to run on the Creators Update of Windows 10. It requires C-Gate or above. Due to the nature of these fixes, this release will not work with versions of C-Gate prior to LARGE PROJECT FILE SUPPORT The large project file support has been increased in this release. It now allows C-Bus project files of up to 80MB in size to be opened. Previously up to 50MB was supported. Be aware that it can take several minutes for the project to load and become useable, during which time OPC Server may appear as though it has stopped working. The Messages tab in the C-Bus OPC Management Application provides an indication of the loading while the service is starting. The C-Bus OPC Commissioning Application does not have any such indication. OTHER FIXES None.

4 OPC Server Release Notes August 2016 LARGE PROJECT FILE SUPPORT This maintenance release now allows C-Bus project files of up to 50MB in size to be opened. Previously only 20MB was supported. Be aware that it can take several minutes for the project to load and become useable, during which time OPC Server may appear as though it has stopped working. The Messages tab in the C-Bus OPC Management Application provides an indication of the loading while the service is starting. The C-Bus OPC Commissioning Application does not have any such indication. OTHER FIXES None.

5 OPC Server Release Notes June 2012 OPC Alarm and Event now supported to provide information from the C-Bus Error Reporting Application. There is now an automatic restart option in the C-Bus OPC Monitoring Application. Startup performance has been improved. It is now possible to determine the number of units in each network (if any) that are having problems. OTHER FIXES Compatibility problems when running OPC Server and C-Bus Toolkit at the same time have been fixed. Group levels are now reliably determined from bridged networks at startup.

If another C-Gate client forces reloading of the project in use by OPC Server, then the server will stop working properly. The workaround is to avoid working with projects while the OPC Server is operational.

7 OPC Server Release Notes June 2010 Synchronous OPC writes now always complete, including when networks are in an error state. For licensing based on network count, networks disabled in the C-Bus OPC Monitoring Application no longer contribute to the point count. During OPC Server startup, progress information is now displayed in the C-Bus OPC Monitoring Application. If another C-Gate client forces reloading of the project in use by OPC Server, then the server will stop working properly. 8 OPC Server Release Notes February 2010 C-Gate connection requirements updated, for C-Bus Toolkit 1.11 compatibility. If a network remains not operational for more than approximately 90 seconds, OPC requests that C-Gate perform a sync. This is designed to have the network back online as soon as possible. Writing to the Trigger Control and Enable Control applications with a network in error state caused many problems. This has been fixed. Synchronous OPC writes may not complete, particularly when networks are in error state.

9 OPC Server Release Notes November 2009 The behavior of the Trigger Control and Enable Control applications has been corrected. Increased reliability: If C-Gate shuts down, the quality of all values is set to bad, but values are no longer set to zero. This avoids triggering false alarms. Increased reliability: If a serial cable is disconnected then reconnected after some time, reconnection is now quicker. The network condition is now available for networks with special characters such as periods and commas. USB licensing driver has been updated. The C-Bus OPC Monitoring Application now allows entire C-Bus networks to be disabled and re-enabled without using the C- Bus OPC Commissioning Application. None.
