2 IMPORTANT! New animated information for XENTRY Kit & Star Diagnosis: We will soon be sending you another animated info-cd. This time, however, it will not be sent together with the update, but instead made available online: - available as download for Mercedes-Benz contract partners in the Mercedes-Benz After-Sales Portal - for independent garages in Service & Parts net New: In addition to the usual tips and tricks for Star Diagnosis and XENTRY Diagnostics/DAS, the animated CD now contains a number of additional instructions to help you navigate the new diagnostic portfolio XENTRY Kit. The animation CD can also be requested via the familiar ordering process for accessories. Online determination of new control unit software for all new truck model series (Actros 963, Antos, Arocs, new Atego) Following the update, requests will be sent to the central Daimler system to determine the new control unit software for all new truck model series from the new Actros onwards. This has already taken place for passenger cars and the smart model series 451 since the 03/2013 update. Workshop employees are not required to make any additional manual selections for this procedure. Requests occur unnoticed in the background while the program is running. There is a new process for the offline workaround that will be supported by the User Help Desk for diagnosis. An overview of the new workaround process, as well as detailed process descriptions, can be found in the INFO information system or XENTRY Kit Support Tool. Furthermore, there is a descriptive animation in the new Animated Information XENTRY Kit & Star Diagnosis. Regional updates for control unit software From model series 222 onwards, the control unit software ( Flashware ) will no longer be sent via telematics DVD/CD, but instead via the Regio DVD. This will include the customary software for your country. It may be the case that you require software that is not available as standard for your region. Here, you may order the corresponding software DVD via the replacement part ordering process. Before every XENTRY Flash process, XENTRY Diagnostics makes reference to which regional data medium needs to be inserted. Page 2 of 6

3 New features & information specific to XENTRY systems Description of update process XENTRY Connect: 1. Supply XENTRY Connect and the Blu-ray drive with power. Make sure there is no LAN cable connected to XENTRY Connect. Only use the Blu-ray drive's original power supply unit. 2. Connect the Blu-ray drive to XENTRY Connect using both USB connectors and push the XENTRY Connect Update BD into the drive. 3. Set XENTRY Connect to standby mode (via Switch off device ). Then start the update process by simultaneously pressing both buttons on the XENTRY Connect display ( check mark and x ). A display prompt will appear ( Start Update? ), which you need to confirm with the green check mark. After a brief period, the update process will start. 4. You will see a progress bar on the XENTRY Connect display. After approx. 1.5 hours, a disk with a check mark will appear on the XENTRY Connect display which signals that the update has ended. The device automatically shuts down after a brief period. 5. If starting XENTRY Connect for the first time after the update, make sure it is connected to an external power source. After starting up again, the Device starting message will appear for approx. 10 minutes and the red Busy LED lights up; the device cannot be operated during this time. XENTRY Connect is ready for use once the message disappears and the green LED is lighting. XENTRY Tab: 1. Supply XENTRY Tab and the Blu-ray drive with power. Only use the Blu-ray drive's original power supply unit. Connect the Blu-ray drive to XENTRY Tab using both USB connectors and push the XENTRY Control Update DVD into the drive. 2. The Windows Explorer AutoPlay menu will open automatically with the contents of the DVD: Open the Runstart.exe file by double-clicking on it and confirm the prompt with Yes. The Windows installation dialog will open which will guide you through the necessary steps. Printing with XENTRY Kit The printing process has slightly changed following the storage of the diagnostic applications on the XENTRY Connect multiplexer. The print job is generated on XENTRY Connect by clicking on Print and routed to XENTRY Tab via the existing connection, and from there to the printer. This allows you to install any printer for Windows 7 (32 bit) on XENTRY Tab or your standard PC. In order to guarantee a smooth processing of print orders, we recommend installing the latest printer driver specific to the respective manufacturer on XENTRY Tab. Page 3 of 6

4 New features specific to Star Diagnosis systems New printer drivers available. With the installation of DVD, new printer models can be set up locally with Star Diagnosis devices. The models can be found in the INFO information system in the category About initial startup and networking under Approved printer models for Star Diagnosis. Update information for Star Diagnosis systems After update, the update information will be shown directly after installation when first starting the Star Diagnosis system. The request Show current information? no longer appears. The information must be read through in full and can only be closed once you reach the end of the document. The update information can be called up at any time from the INFO information system under New documents and added to the update data carriers in printed form. Self-diagnosis Storage space analysis With the DVD, a new self-diagnosis is available under Star Utilities -> Self-Diagnosis. It is required for support cases where the drive structure of the system must be analyzed. The analysis takes between one and five minutes. WebCam Tool Once the update has been carried out, it will be possible to save recordings to the Star Diagnosis systems using a camcorder (or webcam) connected via USB stick, which can then be used for documentation purposes or support requests. Instructions on how to use the tool can be found in the INFO information system. 5 New features in scope of data for vans/transporters Maintenance of existing model series and their systems Model series: 415 Please note that during the performance tracking period certain fault codes may be displayed which, according to development information, cannot be produced by the control unit at all. In the tests for these fault codes, we point out that the fault memory must be erased if such a code occurs only once. If the fault code appears again, please open a TIPS case and contact the hotline.
