3 English Getting Started These instructions will help you getting started and to access the product. Different status of the LED indicators Accessing the Product This product can be accessed either via an IP network or directly via the management port (mini-usb). The web browser Internet Explorer 8.0 or later is recommended for accessing the product s web interface. Access via a Network with a DHCP Server It is recommended that this product always gets the same IP address if it communicates with other equipment, in order to prevent it from losing contact with the equipment after a restart. Inform the network administrator about the MAC address (found on a label on the products rear side) and ask to reserve a fixed IP address in the DHCP server. 1 Connect the module to the LAN. 2 Connect the power supply. Starting up is indicated on the status LED with fast flashing blue light. 3 When the starting up indication has stopped, open a web browser on your computer and enter the address elise-xxxxxxxx, where XXXXXXXX is the module key number (starting zeros can be excluded). The module key number can be found on a label on the products rear side, and also in the separately ordered license certificate. 3

5 Access via the Management port Note: A port driver needs to be installed on your computer the first time it is used for accessing the product via the management port. The port driver is located on the product. The installation of the port driver differs depending on the computer s operating system, see either Install the Port Driver on Windows XP/Vista on page 4 or Install the Port Driver on Windows 7 on page 5. 1 Connect the power supply. Starting up is indicated on the status LED with fast flashing blue light. 2 Connect a mini-usb type B cable between the USB port on your computer and the management port on the module. 3 If the required port driver is not installed on the computer, install it now. See below for port driver installation. 4 When the starting up indication has stopped, open a web browser on your computer and enter the IP address in the address field to access the products web interface. 5 Continue the Configuration on page 7. Install the Port Driver on Windows XP/Vista Note: When switching between mass storage mode and network mode, it takes about 30 seconds before the module can be accessed with the address. 1 Connect a mini-usb type B cable between the USB port on your computer and the management port on the module. The Found new hardward wizard opens but at this stage a valid USB port driver is not available, so close the wizard and continue to install the driver. 2 Press the Mode button twice to change the mode to mass storage. The module will now turn up as a mass storage device on your computer. This is indicated by slow flashing blue light on the Mode button LED. 3 Locate the required elise3.inf driver and save it on your computer. 4 Press the Mode button twice again to change the USB mode to network access. The Found new hardware... dialogue box opens. 5 Select No, not this time and click Next. 6 Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next. 4

6 7 Select Search for the best driver in these locations. 8 Check the Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM...) check box. 9 Check the Include this location in the search: check box. 10 Browse to the folder where the port driver is saved. 11 Click Next. The installation of the port driver begins. 12 If a message opens, saying the software has not passed Windows Logo testing, click Continue Anyway. 13 Click Finish. A dialogue box will open and inform you that new hardware is installed. Install the Port Driver on Windows 7 Note: When switching between mass storage mode and network mode, it takes about 30 seconds before the module can be accessed with the address. 1 Connect a mini-usb type B cable between the USB port on your computer and the management port on the module. 2 Press the Mode button twice to change the USB mode to mass storage. The module will now turn up as a mass storage device on your computer. This is indicated by slow flashing blue light on the Mode button LED. 3 Locate the required elise3.inf driver and save it on your computer. 4 Press the Mode button twice again to change the USB mode to network access. 5 Select Control Panel > Hardware and Sound. 6 Select Device Manager under Devices and Printers. 5

7 7 Right click RNDIS/Ethernet gadget and select Update driver software. A new window opens. 8 Click Browse my computer for driver software. 9 Browse to the folder where the port driver is saved and click Next. A Windows Security window opens. 10 Click Install this driver software anyway. The installation begins. 11 Click Close when the installation has finished. The port driver Linux USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget is now installed in Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers > Device manager > Network adapters. 6

8 Configuration The product needs to be configured with basic settings. Some products settings can be set in an installation Setup Wizard accessible from the web interface. The Setup Wizard will start automatically the first time the module is accessed from the web browser and every time until the configuration has been saved. If the product has not got a Setup Wizard all settings are set from the products configuration pages, see Setup from the Advanced Configuration Page on page 7. Note: For extended configuration, refer to the Installation and Operation Manual for this product. Setup via the Setup Wizard 1 Access the module either via the network or via the management port. 2 Enter user name admin and the password changeme. 3 Complete the Setup Wizard. (If the module s network IP address has not been assigned by a DHCP server, it must be set manually in the wizard). 4 Select Restart now when the setup wizard has finished. The module will restart with the new configuration. Setup from the Advanced Configuration Page 1 Access the module either via the network or via the management port, but add /admin after the address in the address bar as in xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/admin, where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the modules IP address. 2 Enter user name admin and the password changeme. 3 Click System Setup and navigate to Network. 4 Set the network parameters. Use the on-line help if any problems occur. 5 Click License and enter the license number. 6 Click Settings and select time source. 7 Change the default passwords for all users. If the passwords are not changed, anyone with knowledge of the default passwords can access the module and change any parameter. 8 Reboot the module by navigating to Reboot. 9 When the module has been restarted, enter xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/admin in your browser (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address that was given to the module during network setup) to see that it has started up correctly. 7

9 Safety and Regulatory Instructions for Elise3 Safety Instructions For safe and efficient operation of the equipment, observe the guidelines given in this manual and in the Installation Guide, and all necessary safety precautions when using the equipment. Follow the operating instructions and adhere to all warnings and safety precautions located on the product, and in the product manuals. Precautions Save this manual. It includes important safety information and operating instructions. Save all instructions for future reference. Install all wiring according to local, state, and federal electrical code requirements. Connect AC (power supply) only to designated power sources as marked on the product. DANGER: Never alter the AC cord or plug. If the plug will not fit into the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. Improper connection increases the risk of electric shock. Ensure the AC receptacle is installed near the equipment and easily accessible. Position the electrical cord to the AC power supply where it is least likely to be subjected to damage or stress. IMPORTANT: When mounting the device on a wall the device should (to fulfil the fire classification) be mounted so the position of the connectors is in a vertical plane, i.e. on the right and left side, see picture. Use fasteners supplied with the system. Connections Connections Four screws size 3,5 40 together with four wall plugs, and four screws size M3 6, are delivered with the product. The M3 6 screws are used for attaching the assembly brackets to the module. Use the 3,5 40 screws for walls made of wood. For walls made of concrete and bricks use them together with the wall plugs. For other types of walls use suitable screws and plugs according to wall material. For detailed mounting instructions refer to Installation Guide Elise3. 8

10 Installation on trains Shielded ethernet cables should be used for installation on trains to meet the regulatory needs for railway equipment. Installation on ships V DC input should be used to meet the regulatory needs for safety V DC input should be used on deck, bridge and in special power distribution zones ( V AC input can be used in general power distribution zones) to meet the regulatory needs for EMC. Product marking The device is marked with the following labels: Regulatory compliance statements (EU/EFTA only) This equipment is intended to be used in the whole EU & EFTA. This equipment is in compliance with the essential requirements and other relevant provisions of EMC Directive 2004/108/EC, LVD Directive 2006/95/EC and Eco Design 2005/32/EC. The Declaration of Conformity may be consulted at: Regulatory Compliance Statements (USA and Canada only) FCC compliance statements This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver. 9

11 Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. Consult the dealer or an experienced radio or television technician for help.
