1 1 Overview Purpose ExacqVision recorders now include Kantech Entrapass CE software. The purpose of this document is to guide the technician or installer through the process of installing and registering Kantech Entrapass CE. It is required that the individual performing this task is a Kantech Certified Technician in order to register the product. More information about Kantech Entrapass CE can be found by visiting Kantech s website: IMPORTANT NOTE: Section 4 Kantech Permission Repair is NOT REQUIRED if performing a new installation of Entrapass version or later. 2 ExacqVision Installation NOTE: It is imperative that ExacqVision be installed and fully licensed before installing Kantech Entrapass. If this step is not completed correctly, you will see a prompt for a serial number in the Entrapass installation process. Europe/Middle East/Asia Page 1 of 26

2 ExacqVision Installation: 1. Visit and select Support>Software Downloads. Europe/Middle East/Asia Page 2 of 26

3 2. Select the appropriate version for your system. 3. When prompted for login credentials on the website, entire username guest, password exacqvisionip and run the installation file. Europe/Middle East/Asia Page 3 of 26

4 Once ExacqVision is installed and licensed, you may begin the Kantech Entrapass installation without issue. 3 Kantech Installation Entrapass Software Installation Perform the following steps to install the included version of Kantech Entrapass CE on the exacqvision recorder. NOTE: If you have previously configured kiosk mode for other users on the system, please log out, and log back in as admin before continuing. 1. Find the Kantech folder on the desktop. 5 2. Open the EPCE folder 3. Run the Setup.exe to start the installation. Europe/Middle East/Asia Page 5 of 26

6 4. Click OK to begin the installation process. 5. Step through the installation, selecting It is recommended to install the full package at this step. Europe/Middle East/Asia Page 6 of 26

7 6. Here you will be naming the Kantech system. Continue to step through the installation process. Europe/Middle East/Asia Page 7 of 26

8 Your installation is now complete. The desktop will now show five new icons. a. Workstation b. Server c. Gateway d. Smartlink e. Entrapass Web DO NOT double click the Entrapass Web shortcut icon that the installer has placed on the desktop. The pre-determined parameters of this shortcut are not correct for being installed on an exacqvision recorder. This icon can be deleted from the desktop. Later, during the configuration of the EntrapassWeb client, you will be instructed to launch the EntrapassWeb Setup shortcut icon found in the Kantech folder on the desktop. 9 4 Kantech Permission Repair Vital Steps for Windows 10 Installations Kantech Entrapass requires 2 permissions changes and 1 exclusion change (Windows Defender) for full functionality. NOTE: This only applies to Windows 10 at this time. 1. Open the Kantech program file folder. (C:\Program Files (x86)\kantech) A. Right click on the Kantech folder. B. Select Properties C. Find the Security tab in the properties window. D. Select the Users group. E. Click the Edit button F. Click the check box for Full Control G. Click Apply, and OK, and close these windows. 10 2. Click the start button and type regedit. Select the regedit.exe option that appears. This will open the Registry Editor. Page 10 of 26

11 3. Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/WOW6432Node/Kantech folder A. Right click the Kantech folder. B. Select Permissions from the menu C. Select the users group D. Click the Full Control check box E. Click Apply, and OK, and close these windows. Page 11 of 26

12 4. Entrapass on Windows 10 requires an exclusion in Windows Defender. (Call Kantech support if you have questions regarding interactions with other forms of cyber-security software.) B. Open Windows Defender C. Click Settings D. Locate Exclusions at the bottom of the page that opens. E. Click Add an exclusion Page 12 of 26

13 5. Click Exclude a folder and locate the Kantech folder in Program Files (x86). Highlight this folder and click the Exclude this folder button. Page 13 of 26

14 5 Registration Once Entrapass CE is installed it must be registered IMPORTANT NOTE: The person doing the registration must be a Kantech Certified Technician. At this point you can open the Workstation application. A. Click Click here to login in the top left corner. B. Apply the temporary password provided (highlighted in yellow) to the password text box to login. Page 14 of 26

15 1. Click on the Options tab 1 2. Then click on Registration Click the Click here to register button to register Contact Kantech using the information provided to register. Certified technicians can complete the registration process online at if they have a member center account. 5 Page 15 of 26

16 IMPORTANT NOTE: The person doing the registration must be a Kantech Certified Technician. 5. When a confirmation code is received enter it here. 6. The OK button will become enabled upon entering a proper confirmation code. Click OK when done entering code. Click Close button. When prompted for Connection Password change it is OK to leave these fields blank and click Cancel. Page 16 of 26

17 Close the Workstation application. Answer YES to both of these questions if prompted. EntrapassWeb Client Setup Open the Kantech folder on the desktop and launch the EntrapassWeb Setup shortcut. A browser will open with a prompt to install Microsoft Silverlight. Click Click now to install to continue. Page 17 of 26

18 Click Run to begin installation. When prompted for User Access Control, click Yes. Page 18 of 26

19 Click Install now to install Silverlight. These two options are of no consequence. Make Bing my search engine Make MSN my homepage They are checked by default but they can be unchecked if desired. The option Enable Microsoft Update (recommended) is recommended to leave checked (its default state). Click Next. Page 19 of 26

20 Installation is complete. Click Close. Upon clicking Close from the Silverlight installation, another browser instance or tab should launch prompting for the Tyco EntrapassWeb install. If it does not, manually open the EntrapassWeb Client Setup application in the Kantech folder. Click INSTALL Page 20 of 26

21 When prompted with the Security Warning, click Install. When the install completes, a login prompt should be displayed. There are key things to look for here. 1. Username: admin 2. Password: admin Ensure name here is as expected Page 21 of 26

22 4. Ensure that this says Powered by Kantech. If you only see Powered by, then a connection has not been established with the Kantech services and there is a problem Final Steps and Cleanup Page 22 of 26

23 Another tab or web browser may open indicating that you can launch EntrapassWeb from the Start Menu of Windows. This window can be closed. Page 23 of 26

24 Clean up the desktop by deleting or moving the Kantech installer off of the exacq recorder. This will free up about 1 GB of space on the OS/boot drive. Delete or move off of exacq recorder Your desktop should now look like this Page 24 of 26

25 Backup Configuration There is a limited amount of space on the local hard drive. A remote location for the backup operation of Entrapass should be considered. It is recommended that you configure the backups to target a network share or other removable media such as a USB drive or CD. To do this, perform the following steps Open Workstation 2. Click Options 3. Click Backup Scheduler 4. Select Specific Folder radio button 5. Click on the browse icon 6. Click on the drop down box 7. Select network share or removable media (in this example, a USB drive with drive letter E:\) 8. Click OK 9. Repeat steps 1-8 for each tab, Data, Archive, In/Out and Video event NOTE: The Default folder setting will write this data to the C:\Program Files (x86)\kantech\server_ce\ area. This setting is not advisable because it resides on the exacqvision local drive Page 25 of 26
