7. RTSP Connectivity Information The Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) is a network control protocol designed for use in entertainment and communications systems to control streaming media servers. The protocol is used for establishing and controlling media sessions between end points. The RTSP Config Tool is a Proactive-CCTV scripting application that generates an xml file, allowing rtsp camera connectivity within the ispy application. In order to properly connect to your IP cameras, DVR or NVR, you will need to locate the RTSP URL string. The RTSP URL String is generally provided within the manufacture documentation of whichever surveillance security products you are using. Please verify that your manufacturer supports RTSP, which is required in order for the Proactive-CCTV software to perform optimal functionality. Example RTSP URL String from a Dahua Product: rtsp://user:password@ :554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=1 The string generally contains a user name, password, ip address of the camera or DVR/NVR and the rtsp port to establish connectivity. By default, the RTSP port is 554. Other parameters exist such as the camera to connect too and stream type (Master Stream & Sub Stream). Important Notice about Master & Sub Stream: It is highly recommended that if you plan on connecting to a camera, with a resolution greater than D1 Quality (704x408), you should connect directly to the IP camera and not the NVR. Connecting via master stream with several cameras to an NVR may cause overuse of system resources on the NVR and also may cause instability on the Proactive Server. It is best practice for resolutions such as 720p and 1080p, to connect directly to the IP camera master stream. If you plan on using D1 quality, it is suggested you connect directly to the DVR at the sub stream level. Extremely High bit rates from the cameras or DVR/NVR may cause instability on the Proactive Server. It is suggested your maximum bit rate per camera is set to 2048 for master stream. Important Notice about Frame Rates: If you are outputting 3 FPS from the camera, but desire the Proactive-Server to record at 5 FPS, your output settings on the camera must be a minimum of 5 FPS. Otherwise, you will only receive a maximum of 3 FPS from the camera stream output, regardless of what Proactive settings you specified for frame rate. Important Notice about Network Connectivity: All RTSP connectivity should be done on a local area network to avoid bandwidth challenges. We do not recommend connecting to cameras over the internet, unless you have fully assessed all bandwidth and networking requirements for your customer. Important Notice about Continuous Recording: The Proactive-CCTV Software is designed by default to operate on high motion sensitivity. If you plan on deploying a system with the objective of having continuous recording on several cameras, please consult with our technical team before attempting. Although, continuous recording is possible, high performance hardware may be required depending on the installation you are deploying for your customer.
8. RTSP Config Tool A. Launch the RTSP Config Tool B. Select how many cameras you will be connecting to in the drop down, select Open Script. C. Start by selecting a camera in the drop down to edit Force Camera Resolution To - will set the desired resolution of that specific camera. The Proactive-CCTV software supports 1080p as the maximum resolution for archival of video data. Notice: (If the output settings of your camera are below the resolution you specified in the drop down, the image quality of the video during playback of the Proactive archival file will appear grainy and pixelated.) RTSP URL String Is the connectivity string provided by the video surveillance equipment you are using. This information is generally provided in the documentation the manufacturer provides. Please refer to your manufacturer s documentation or support to get this information. Refer to Step 7 to see an example. Frames Per Second Is the amount of frames captured in a second per camera. Notice: (If you are outputting 3 FPS from the camera, but desire the Proactive-Server to record at 5 FPS, your output settings on the camera must be a minimum of 5 FPS. Otherwise, you will only receive a maximum of 3 FPS from the camera stream output, regardless of what Proactive settings you specified for frame rate.) Image Compression It is recommended you leave the image compression to its default setting of 40. Increasing the compression will use more storage, but may provide better quality of image. Sensitivity It is recommended you leave the sensitivity to its default setting of Standard Motion unless the video seems choppy during recorded events. More sensitive motion will use more storage, but may capture more recorded events.
New Script This will default all settings in the script generator bring the application back to initial configuration. Compile Script This will generate an xml file for ispy to establish rtsp connectivity to cameras. Selecting Do Not Launch will not execute ispy to import the xml settings. Depending on where you saved the xml file too, double clicking the file will import the settings manually. Export Settings This will export the configuration specified in the RTSP-Config-Tool to an encrypted.ini format, allowing settings to be imported again if needed. Import Settings This will import the configuration specified in the RTSP-Config-Tool. The script can then be compiled. Default Camera If a camera is selected in the drop down, it will default to its initial state. Copy To All If a camera is selected in the drop down, it will copy the same settings to all cameras. D. Compiling Script to establish rtsp connectivity in ispy Select Compile Script once all settings have been entered. Make sure Do not launch is unchecked. You will prompted to save config file, you can select the desktop as a location for convenience. You will notice the ispy software launch than minimize, click on the icon in the system tray Enter the credentials when prompted: Account: admin Password: cctv80
Arrange cameras to see if all camera connections were successful. Go to the next page if connectivity was unsuccessful. In the ispy application, select View, Layout, Auto Layout Objects, and select 160x120 If connectivity was successful: A Successful connection will start showing cameras connecting. If you have several cameras, it may take a few minutes for all cameras to load:
If connectivity was not successful: A failed connection will show no connection. If you have several cameras, it may take a few minutes for all cameras to load, so please wait before assuming connection failed: Troubleshooting failed connections: If camera(s) fail to connect, exit the ispy software entirely. Re-launch the RTSP-Config-Tool and review all RTSP connection settings. Check user names, passwords, IP addresses, ports, and any typo s that may exists in the string. Check to make sure all cameras are running on the DVR/NVR to rule out any camera signal loss.
9. Final Post-Installation Procedures A. Cut the config ispy file saved to the location where you compiled the script in the RTSP-Config-Tool, and paste it to the RTSP Processing Drive Root: B. Add any third party remote tools such as TeamViewer to manage the Proactive Server. It is highly recommended you do this, for the purpose of troubleshooting remotely, and having our technical team assist you if needed. It is also suggested you copy the 4 files above onto a usb drive as a backup, or another form of media. Proceed to next page for final setup.
10. Reboot & Verify Automation A. Restart the Proactive-Server B. Open up task manager C. The following services should be running: Proactive Monitoring Service will launch the following services: Proactive Compression Service Proactive File Indexing Service Proactive Transfer Service If you installed the Proactive Remote Playback Service, you should also see it appear in task manager at startup. D. Check to make sure ispy applications are running as well in task manager: E. Verify that the cameras connected automatically in ispy, by launching the ispy application. If all applications successfully launched, and cameras are connected, the Proactive Server Installation is completed.
