It's easy, just follow the step-by-step instructions on that page. If you continue to have problems, please visit the Connectivity section for additional suggestions. Connectivity 1. What is Wi-Fi? Wi-Fi is a generic term used to describe wireless Internet access. A Wi-Fi enabled device (such as a computer, laptop, mobile phone, or e-reader) can connect wirelessly to the Internet if it is in range of a wireless network. Wi-Fi enabled devices connect to the wireless network through access points (or hotspots). Access points can be public (such as at a library, restaurant or bookstore) or can be private (such as at home, work or school). Public Wi-Fi access points usually don't require a password, but instead require a user to acknowledge terms of use. Private Wi-Fi access points are usually password protected. Home Internet connection is usually provided by a cable or telephone company, and the wireless access is provided by a small device called a wireless router that is physically connected to the Internet. 2. Is my NOOK wireless? Yes, your NOOK has built in Wi-Fi allowing you to connect wirelessly to any Wi-Fi hotspot. Connect to your home Wi-Fi, as well as your office, cafes, airports, hotels, and most other public

3 hotspots. Your local Barnes & Noble bookstore offers free Wi-Fi that your NOOK will connect to automatically. 3. I forgot my Wi-Fi password. What should I do? Check with your Wi-Fi network administrator, or with whoever installed your Wi-Fi network. If you can't find that person, you may need to reset your Wi-Fi router back to its original settings. Please go to the support site of your Wi-Fi router's manufacturer for information about factory reset and how to set up a network. Note that you may need to reattach any other Wi-Fi enabled device if you change the network name (SSID) or change the password. 4. How do I know what my home network is? If you have another Wi-Fi enabled device, try looking at its settings to determine which Wi-Fi access point it is connecting to. Once you've determined that, select the same wireless network name from the list provided by NOOK. 5. I don't see my home network on the list. What should I do? It is possible that your network was set up as a hidden network. To add your network: -Tap the Settings icon in the upper right hand corner. -Tap All Settings. -Select Wireless & Bluetooth. -Make sure that Wi-Fi is turned on -Tap on Find other networks and tap on the Add Network button. -Fill in the information for your network and press Save. 6. How do I find the Library and the Shop? Press the NOOK "n" button to navigate to the Home screen. The Home screen will display Nav Buttons along the bottom of the screen that displays - Your Library. (where your books, periodicals, videos, and apps are stored) - Apps, including gallery, music player, Hulu Plus, NOOK Friends, Contacts, and Calendar, (your apps from the NOOK Store are also stored here). - Web for the Web browser. - for easy access to send and receive messages. - Shop (where you can find personal recommendations and new releases; and where you can shop for NOOK Books, magazines, newspapers, kids' books and apps). A Search bar is found at the bottom of the screen for searching everywhere on your NOOK. 8. How do I get back to what I was reading? To return to the book or periodical you were most recently reading, video you were watching or app you just opened, tap the "Recent Drawer" icon at the bottom left corner of the Home screen. 9. Can I see a history of recent NOOK Books and periodicals I've opened? Yes. On the Home screen tap the "Recent Drawer" icon at the bottom left corner of the Home screen. Your recently opened items will include books, periodicals, videos, and apps that you have used. 10. How do I open a book, magazine, newspaper, catalog, video, or app?

18 To open a book, periodical, video or app, tap on its cover or icon. Or, while in Library, press and hold on its cover or icon, and when a pop-up menu opens, tap on Read or Open. 11. How do I turn a page in a book? To turn the page forward, tap on the right edge of the touchscreen, or swipe from right to left (set your fingertip on the right side of the touchscreen, and slide it quickly to the left). To turn the page back, tap on the left edge of the touchscreen, or swipe from left to right (set your fingertip on the left side of the touchscreen, and slide it quickly to the right). 12. When my NOOK wakes up, it displays an icon with my name displayed and a lock screen. Tapping on the screen doesn't do anything. How do I unlock my NOOK? Place your finger on the icon, and drag the icon to the lock on the color touchscreen. This unlocks your NOOK. Your NOOK locks its screen when it has been inactive to prevent accidental touches from changing things. On the lock screen, you are also able to switch between profiles. For more information on Profiles, please see the User Guide. 13. Can I change how long my NOOK waits before locking the screen? Yes. By default, your NOOK waits 2 minutes before going to sleep mode or locking the screen, but you can change this interval to 5 minutes, 15 minutes, or 1 hour. Tap the Quick Settings icon and tap on All Settings. On the All Settings screen, tap General. Tap the menu choice Screen Timeout. Tap the time interval you want your NOOK to wait before going to sleep mode and locking the screen. Then press the NOOK "n" button to close the window. 14. How can I adjust my locations for Your NOOK Today? On the Your NOOK Today page, tap on the change location link to personalize your weather updates to a specific location. 15. What can I place on my home screen? You can add items from your Library, apps, and bookmarks from the Web browser. Information Provided by Barnes & Noble.
