HDD is not the first selection in the boot order. 1. When the preinstallation is complete, click Reboot and log on to ilo. 2. Select Administration from the navigation pane. 3. Select Boot Order > Server Boot Order and set the HDD on the top of boot order. 4. Click Apply. The operating system boots from the hard disk drive and the Assisted install proceeds as normal. 10 Known issues and suggested actions
11 Unable to install an operating system with multicontroller setup After installing Intelligent Provisioning and performing the following steps (example only), the installation does not finish. 1. Enable a controller in the BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU). 2. Click F10 and perform the steps in the First Time Setup Wizard. 3. Select Perform Maintenance > RAID Configuration and create logical drives for the other controller in the server. 4. Proceed with the Windows installation by selecting the other controller. 5. Reboot the server and the installation process halts with the following message: Set up was unable to create a new partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information. Old OS files are on the drives connected to the controllers. Use the Scripting Toolkit to remove old OS files on the drives. See the Scripting Toolkit User Guide for more information. Window Manual Installation does not work as expected Windows does not install through Intelligent Provisioning 3.10 for Gen10 Smart Array controllers and S100i software RAID controllers. 1. Do one of the following: Use Assisted Mode to install the OS. Perform Windows manual installation on a SATA controller. Operational issues Time zone changes not appearing in Intelligent Provisioning Preferences Time zone detail changes made to the system BIOS using UEFI System Utilities are not appearing in Intelligent Provisioning Preferences. Unable to install an operating system with multicontroller setup 11
12 When you set the time zone date and time using the UEFI System Utilities, changes are applied only to the BIOS, but not to the OS or ilo. To set the time zone date and time to the BIOS, OS, and ilo, use Intelligent Provisioning Preferences instead of the UEFI System Utilities. 1. Select Perform Maintenance > Intelligent Provisioning Preferences. 2. Click the displayed date or time. 3. Use the displayed calendar or clock to select new values. 4. Reset the time zone in the ilo web interface if it is set incorrectly in ilo during First Time Setup and if it affects system functionality. See the Intelligent Provisioning User Guide for HPE ProLiant Gen10 Servers and HPE Synergy for more information. Firmware update might stop responding An update might become unresponsive. The firmware job is interrupted. 1. Use the RESTful Interface Tool or the Scripting Toolkit (STK) to run ilorest and manually clear the task. 2. To reset the REST data, run the following command. This command resets all BIOS and Intelligent Provisioning settings and tasks to defaults. ilorest clearrestapistate -u username -p password -url=xx.xx.xx.xx Custom URL option does not work as expected with Firmware Update Utility The Firmware Update Utility's Custom URL option does not work as expected. Use the hpe.com option for deploying updates. System may appear to stop responding during secure ND erase On some multiprocessor systems, the system may appear to stop responding during secure ND erase. The process will complete in the allotted time but the interface will not update indicating completion. 12 Firmware update might stop responding
13 After the stated time elapses, you may safely unplug the system to reset and reboot. At the next boot into F10, the system will display the First Time Setup Wizard, indicating completion of the process. Some Legacy BIOS Mode installs need specific instructions If the server boot mode is set to Legacy BIOS Mode, some operating systems need specific installations. NOTE: Legacy BIOS Mode behavior cannot be modified from F10 version of Intelligent Provisioning, and might boot unexpectedly. Specific Legacy BIOS Mode installations VMware/Linux automatic from DVD: Ensure that you are booting to the hard drive using either the UEFI System Utilities (F9) or the One-Time Boot Menu (F11).
