2 InFocus LiteShow Quick Start Guide 1 This InFocus LiteShow Quick Start Guide contains the four simple steps you need to perform in order to project without the burden of cables. If you have any problems, consult the "Troubleshooting" section of the LiteShow User s Guide or the program s online Help. Technical Support contacts can be found in this document on page 14. Step 1: Check Your Equipment Before you get started, check the System Requirements for your projector, PC or Mac to make sure that you have all of the proper equipment. Then, check the "Items for Installation" section on page 3 to be sure you have all of the Lite- Show components that you need. System Requirements Projector Projectors that work with LiteShow for wireless projection need an M1-D or M1-DA standard connector (see below). The LiteShow adapter attaches to your projector via this connector. For a list of projectors that are compatible with LiteShow, consult the "Compatible projectors" section in the "Appendix" of the LiteShow User s Guide. connector on your projector

3 2 InFocus LiteShow Quick Start Guide PC Your Windows-based PC needs to meet or exceed the following system requirements: Intel Pentium III 800MHz minimum Microsoft Windows 2000/XP operating system 64MB RAM 16MB or more of available disk space Wi-Fi compatible b wireless LAN adapter (integrated or PC card*) or USB wireless adapter CD-ROM drive for software installation * You can purchase and install a wireless adapter, or purchase one with LiteShow and install it. Macintosh Your Mac must meet or exceed the following system requirements: Mac PowerBook G4 or ibook Mac OS X version or later, 10.2 or later recommended 128MB RAM 16MB or more of available disk space AirPort wireless LAN adapter CD-ROM drive for software installation

5 4 InFocus LiteShow Quick Start Guide Step 2: Attach the LiteShow adapter to your Projector 1 Make sure that the projector you are going to attach LiteShow to is powered off. 2 Attach the LiteShow adapter to the M1-D or M1-DA connector on the projector. Secure it to the projector with the two thumbscrews. Be careful to not overtighten them. thumbscrews hinge Connector 3 Power on the projector. Look for the LiteShow Splash Screen (shown on the next page) on the projected screen. The LiteShow Splash Screen is a small window that appears in the upper left corner of the projected screen. If you can see it, then you know that the projector is powered on, the M1-D or M1-DA connector is the active source, and that a LiteShow adapter is connected to it.

6 InFocus LiteShow Quick Start Guide 5 Once visible, the LiteShow Splash Screen displays the following informational items: Name: The name of the LiteShow adapter. The default is myliteshow. Unique ID: A unique identification string that distinguishes your LiteShow adapter from others in the area. WLAN: The name of the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) LiteShow is connecting to. The default is LiteShow. Model: The model number of the projector the LiteShow adapter is attached to. Version: The LiteShow adapter s current firmware version. IP: The LiteShow adapter s IP address. It can be automatically assigned or manually assigned. LiteShow Splash Screen If you do not see the above image, try turning on the projector s Auto-Source option, or consult the "Troubleshooting" section of the LiteShow User s Guide or the online Help file.

7 6 InFocus LiteShow Quick Start Guide Step 3: Install the LiteShow Manager for Windows Mac users, see page 9 for installation information. Note: You need to have Administrative privileges in order to install the LiteShow Manager software. If you do not have these privileges it is recommended that you log out of your current account and log in as a user with Administrative privileges or have a user of the computer with Administrative privileges install LiteShow Manager. 1 If you are using the 3COM wireless card that came with LiteShow, see page 13. If it is not already inserted, attach your wireless PC card or USB wireless adapter to your computer and wait for the computer to recognize it. If you are using an embedded wireless radio, please make sure that the radio is enabled. 2 Insert the LiteShow CD into your PC s CD drive. At the LiteShow CD menu, select the LiteShow option in the Software section to install LiteShow Manager. 3 From the Welcome to LiteShow installation window, click Next, then read and accept the License Agreement. 8 InFocus LiteShow Quick Start Guide 7 4 The Choose Destination Location window prompts you to select a destination folder. It can be a folder you name via the Browse button, or the default folder suggested by the installation program. Click Next. 5 The Ready to Install the Program window informs you that during the installation, the monitor may flicker as drivers are installed. This is not an unusual occurrence when drivers are installed. Click the Install button to continue. Note: If you see the Digital Signature Not Found dialog box, it does not indicate that there is a problem. Click the Yes button and continue the installation. 9 8 InFocus LiteShow Quick Start Guide 6 At the Installshield Wizard Complete window, you can create a shortcut to the LiteShow Manager on the desktop and/or launch the LiteShow Manager. Both options are checked by default. Click Next to continue. 7 If you checked the Launch LiteShow Manager option, it opens the LiteShow Manager. If you did not check the option, navigate to Start>Programs>InFocus and click the LiteShow Manager to open it. Installshield Wizard Complete window

10 InFocus LiteShow Quick Start Guide 9 Step 3: Install the LiteShow Manager for Macintosh Windows users, see page 6 for installation information. 1 Insert the LiteShow CD into your Mac's CD drive. Authenticate window 2 Launch the Mac Installer by double-clicking its icon. 3 Enter your password in the Authenticate window. 4 View the ReadMe file. 5 View and accept the License Agreement. 6 Select the destination volume and click Continue to install. 11 10 InFocus LiteShow Quick Start Guide Once the installation is complete, the LiteShow Manager folder opens and provides instant access to the installed LiteShow files. Click the LiteShow icon to open the Lite- Show Manager. LiteShow Manager Destination window

12 InFocus LiteShow Quick Start Guide 11 Step 4: Project Following the installation of the LiteShow software, the LiteShow Manager application opens. The LiteShow-enabled projector that you installed the LiteShow Manager software for should appear in the list window. Click the Scan button if you are not seeing your LiteShow-enabled projector. Within moments, the Projector list should populate with the names of LiteShow adapters that are in range. To project via LiteShow, simply highlight your LiteShow-enabled projector and click the Project button. 13 12 InFocus LiteShow Quick Start Guide If you want to make adjustments If you want to make any adjustments to your LiteShow settings, you can make them in the LiteShow Settings window. The LiteShow User s Guide and the online Help program explain the options and functions available for you. Please consult the "Projecting via LiteShow" and "Troubleshooting" sections in the User s Guide for additional information.

14 InFocus LiteShow Quick Start Guide 13 Regarding the 3COM Adapter If you purchased the 3COM/LiteShow bundled product, this topic is for you. Installation We recommend that you complete the following steps to install the 3COM wireless adapter: 1 Insert LiteShow CD and click on the 3COM Wireless PC Card option. 2 Wait to be prompted to install the 3COM wireless adapter. 3 When the application asks you to insert the 3COM wireless adapter, do so. 4 Follow the rest of the instructions for install. Although the above procedure is recommended, the 3COM wireless adapter can also be installed in advance of inserting the LiteShow CD. 1 Insert the 3COM wireless adapter. The Windows Hardware Wizard displays. 2 To finish the install, simply click the Next button on the first screen and on the next screen. 3 Make sure that the check box is enabled for CD-ROM drives. 4 Make sure the LiteShow CD is in the CD-ROM drive on your computer. 5 Finish the Wizard by clicking Next until the driver is installed. A Windows dialog box, "Digital Signature Not Found" may display during this process. The install will work fine if the Yes button is clicked when this dialog box displays.
