1 MapInfo Pro Version Contents: System Requirements Upgrading MapInfo Pro Advanced Installation for System Administrators MapInfo Pro MapInfo Pro

2 This document provides information on new and enhanced features that are introduced into MapInfo Pro. It also provides information about resolved issues and known issues that are important to MapInfo Pro users. System Requirements This product is tested on the following Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems: Windows bit Windows bit Windows bit Windows bit Windows 7 64-bit SP1 Windows 7 32-bit SP1 Windows 2012 Server R2 64-bit Windows 2012 Server R2 64-bit with XenApp 7.5 Windows 2008 Server R2 64-bit SP1 Windows 2008 Server R2 32-bit SP1 Windows 2008 Server R2 64-bit SP1 with XenApp 6.0 Upgrading MapInfo Pro Your computer must be connected to the Internet to download the MapInfo Pro Maintenance Release. You may install this Maintenance Release provided any of the following products are installed: MapInfo Pro 15.0, or MapInfo Pro Runtime 15.0, or To upgrade MapInfo Pro to version MapInfo Pro Maintenance Release: 1. On the Help menu select Check for Update to open the Maintenance Releases for MapInfo Pro web page. 2

3 2. On the web page, click the download link and follow your web browser's instructions for opening and running the patch file. The file is called MapinfoPro15.0.3MaintenanceRelease.exe, should you choose to save and run it later. 3. Follow the instructions to complete the upgrade. It is important to wait until the installation completes. Advanced Installation for System Administrators This section is for the system administrator installing this Maintenance Release using a command line, and the network system administrator installing this Maintenance Release across the network using a Microsoft Patch (MSP) file. Upgrading Using a MSP File The MSP file for the MapInfo Pro Maintenance Release updates the English release of MapInfo Pro 15.0, and It does not update: Non-English versions of MapInfo Pro 15.0 MapInfo Pro Runtime 15.0 The MSP file is available for download from: Install this Maintenance Release with elevated privileges. To do this, right-click on the Command-Line Interpreter (cmd.exe) and select Run as Administrator from the popup menu, then continue with the following instructions. To run the Maintenance Release MSP file, type: msiexec /p <path to the MapInfoPro15.0.3MaintenanceRelease.msp file> REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=omus Where: /p = applies the latest patch You may see a prompt for permission to continue. Click Allow or OK to proceed (if you do not respond and the message times-out, then the upgrade is unsuccessful). 3

4 You can upgrade silently by adding a silent parameter switch to the command, such as /qb, /qn, /qr, or /q. For example: msiexec /p <path to the MapInfoPro15.0.3MaintenanceRelease.msp file> REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=omus /qb Where: /qb = to see a basic progress dialog box during the installation Upgrading in Silent Mode To run the MapInfo Pro Maintenance Release installer in silent mode, from a command prompt change directories (cd command) to where the Maintenance Release.exe file is, and then type: MapInfoPro15.0.3MaintenanceRelease.exe /s /v"silinst=true" Where: /s = runs the setup.exe silently /v = passes the parameter "SILINST=True" to suppress the GUI. A progress dialog box may display during the installation. You may see a prompt for permission to continue. Click Allow or OK to proceed. This section lists the updates made since the release of 32-bit MapInfo Pro Progress and Resolution of Outstanding Issues MapInfo Pro MIPRO Refreshing a WFS table containing a Date field from a WFS server makes the Date field NULL. 4

5 MIPRO MapInfo Pro closes unexpectedly when adding a map to a Layout Designer. MIPRO Orthogonal Polygons are not correctly created using the Polyline tool. MIPRO MapInfo Pro closes unexpectedly while using Polyline Split at Node. MIPRO Opening large number of tables together in a MapInfo Pro workspace results in lowering of performance. MIPRO MapInfo Pro closes unexpectedly while using the Set Window command. MIPRO While using custom tools, panning by pressing the mouse wheel resets the selected custom tool to the default Select tool. MIPRO MapInfo Pro closes unexpectedly while executing an SQL query with missing double quotes in the WHERE clause. MIPRO Bing Roads and Hybrid base maps are missing certain roads. MIPRO Certain symbols and fonts are not displayed on the map. MIPRO Dialog strings in MapBasic tools as well as custom dialog strings are getting clipped. 5

6 MapInfo Pro This section lists the updates made since the release of 32-bit MapInfo Pro New and Changed Features This release uses the Microsoft Bing REST service instead of the Bing SOAP service, because the Bing SOAP Service is deprecating at the end of June This change affects the Move Map To feature, but there is no change to how you work with MapInfo Pro and there is no interruption to this Microsoft Bing service. Progress and Resolution of Outstanding Issues MapInfo Pro MIPRO The Web Map Service (WMS) and Envinsa Geocoding service are not working when using a proxy server to connect to them. MIPRO MapInfo Pro 15.0 x86 on Windows 10 closes unexpectedly: sometimes silently and sometimes with an error message. MIPRO MapInfo Pro closes unexpectedly when closing a dialog from a custom MapBasic application that calls.net code to open a browser. 6

7 MapInfo Pro This section lists the updates made since the release of 32-bit MapInfo Pro New Features Two new ellipsoid definitions are included with this release, GSK-2011 and PZ Using a new ellipsoid in any TAB, MIF, or WOR file upgrades the file version to However, the ellipsoid definition does not exist in MapInfo Pro 15.2.x and 16.0, so the following occurs when using these versions of MapInfo Pro with a 1501 table: Opening a table causes the CoordSys of the table to default to the WGS84 ellipsoid definition. Opening a workspace that uses a Set Map CoordSys statement with the new ellipsoid generates an invalid ellipsoid error and the map CoordSys defaults to the WGS84 ellipsoid definition. Issuing a MapBasic Set CoordSys from an MBX or MapBasic Window generates an invalid ellipsoid error. Importing a MIF file that uses a new ellipsoid in a Coordsys clause generates an invalid ellipsoid error. 8 Progress and Resolution of Outstanding Issues MapInfo Pro MIPRO The raster reprojection preference is not applied to images when opening a new map with a raster. Setting Image Processing > Reprojection to Always or Optimized when the Map window was created by initially adding a raster layer causes the reprojection to not work properly and the image to display without the reprojection. The Map window now correctly honors the reprojection preference. MIPRO I am unable to change the object style of the points in an Access ODBC table. MIPRO Clearing the selection from a seamless table causes MapInfo Pro to close unexpectedly. This issue occurs after making a selection from a table that is part of a seamless table and then clearing the selection by clicking elsewhere in the Map window, or when unselecting all. This also occurs when closing a named selection table created against a seamless table. MIPRO There are multiple issues that occur when using the Windows Device Clipping clip region options (found in Map Options): There are issues drawing outside the clip region, or sometimes not drawing inside of the clip region. Some issues are seen on-screen and others are only seen when printing or exporting. Some issues involve a stand-alone Map window, while others involve putting the Map window into a layout frame. The clip region behavior may vary depending on if Enhanced Rendering was turned on or off. There are redraw issues when moving labels in a map that has a clip region. There are redraw issues when panning a Map window that contains a clip region. MIPRO Label Visibility is being set to Off instead of enabling the zoom range while writing to a.mws workspace. Label visibility was incorrectly being set to Off when the feature layer visibility was off, even though label settings had a zoom range specified. This is now fixed. 8

9 MIPRO Printing Pie Charts from MapInfo Professional 12.0 causes the legend to display incorrectly. This issue also affects Bar charts, and both Pie and Bar Theme legends are printing at the wrong size. MIPRO Interleaved objects are not drawn on the cosmetic layer. Starting with version 10.5 interleaved line styles were no longer being drawn correctly in the cosmetic layer which is now fixed. MIPRO When printing, the label line appears when it should not. Issues during print and screen draws when zooming in very close on label callouts have been resolved. MIPRO MIPRO There is an issue when changing the value of the Ignore Zeroes and Blankscheck box on character columns in the Create Thematic Map dialog and switching between pages 2 and 3 of the dialog. 10 MIPRO When Exporting a layout the area does not scale to the image size. Exporting from a Layout Designer window using the Save Window As command does not scale the layout and its contents to the specified custom size. MIPRO Printing large symbols sometimes can cut off part of the symbol. This issue occurs, because the 32-bit versions of MapInfo Pro is running on a 64-bit operating system and is not able to read a registry setting. MapInfo Pro now reads the registry setting. When this occurs, enable the following DWORD registry key MBRExtraPoints under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MapInfo\MapInfo\Common]. Set the value to be the extra number of points to add to the search Minimum Bounding Rectangle (MBR) used when drawing objects. For example, if the largest symbol style to be drawn is 150 pts, then set the value of MBRExtraPoints to 150 (as a decimal value). MIPRO Setting the transparent color in the Adjust Image Styles dialog is not applied when choosing a color other than black. MIPRO In the English version of MapInfo Professional, legends are missing in the Layout window in a workspace when it was created using Danish MapInfo Professional. MapInfo Professional uses a DWORD registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\MapInfo\MapInfo\Common\WriteWindowTitle with value 1 to create workspaces that can be shared across locales. If the registry is present on the machine, MapInfo Professional explicitly sets the title of the various windows in the workspace. However, this is not happening for Legend Designer windows. Resolution: Fixed for Legend Designer and cartographic Legend windows. This is a system limitation and is not fixed for standard MapInfo Pro theme legend windows. MIPRO Copying data from one table to another creates a pending edit on the original table. MIPRO The Style Override dialog can be moved behind the Layer Properties dialog. This issue exists with xvt modal dialogs for integrated mapping applications. 10

11 MIPRO Image processing settings do not save to the workspace (*.WOR) unless the map contains raster layers. MapInfo Pro saves image processing settings to the Workspace (*.WOR), even when there are no raster layers in the map. MapInfo Pro also continues to save image processing settings when the map contains raster layers and Image Processing is set to Always or Automatic or if the Resampling Method is set to Cubic Convolution. MIPRO MIPRO The following MapBasic application error displays in MapInfo Pro 15.0: "Unable to translate the Spatial Constraint". MIPRO The Unselect All button is active when the Browser window is open and nothing is selected. Switching from the Map window to the Browser window when there is no selection causes the Unselect All button to become active when it should be inactive. MIPRO The AGIS Browser closes unexpectedly with.net Framework This issue is caused by.net Framework 4.6.2, which is part of the Microsoft Anniversary Update, and happens when putting a Browser into a layout, printing a Browser, or exporting a Browser (using Save Window As). Microsoft will offer a Hot Fix for this issue that includes a more comprehensive fix. Watch for this upcoming Hot Fix to apply it to other versions of MapInfo Pro. MIPRO It can take a long time to open workspaces after installing the Microsoft Anniversary Update on Windows
