4 Introduction Interactive simulations bring software requirements to life, greatly improving the quality and accuracy of requirements managed throughout the lifecycle. They can be shared with technical and non-technical stakeholders early in the project lifecycle to ensure a thorough understanding of business needs and greatly improve the quality of the requirements defined. CaliberRDM also combines interactive simulations with traditional requirements management to ensure that change is managed throughout the lifecycle and keeps everyone in synch with the business goals and needs. CaliberRDM is a Web-based and server-based, browser-independent application that runs in most Web browsers. CaliberRDM is based on Adobe Flash technology to provide a fast interface response. This guide provides instructions to install the CaliberRDM server on your system. Note: In this version of CaliberRDM, the code base has been internationalized to work with UTF-8 special ASCII characters for German, Japanese, and French. Non-supported areas are path names, file names, or column headings in tables. If you need assistance with UTF-8 characters, contact Customer Support. 4 Introduction

5 Licensing CaliberRDM Trial Version Features CaliberRDM is available in a 30-day trial version that allows you to try the software in your business environment. You can write requirements, build processes with scenarios, and create working software simulations. Additionally, you can create reports, templates, screen actions, and data tables, and add images. The only function that is not available in the 30-day trial version is the ability to export a project. Everything else functions the same as the full version. Product Licensing Keys and Installation If you are installing a 30-day trial version, no license key is required to install the product. When you decide to purchase the full version of CaliberRDM, a license key is provided that allows you to convert the trial version to the full version. When converting to a full access license, all CaliberRDM assets such as your projects, requirements, simulations, and scenarios are retained. When the Trial Expires The software stops operating when the 30-day trial expires. You can still run previously created visualizations, but you cannot login to the product. CaliberRDM requires a full access license to use the product past the 30 day evaluation period. You can convert a trial license to a full access license without reinstalling CaliberRDM by using the Micro Focus Licensing System Administration tool. Important: After installing a full access license, you must restart the CaliberRDM server. From the Control Panel, navigate to Administrative Tools Component Services, and then restart the CaliberRDM Server local service. If you have any questions about these features or the trial limitations, please contact your CaliberRDM sales professional. Converting a Trial License to a Full Access License This is the first sentence of an abstract element. This is the last sentence of an abstract element. 1. 16 Installing CaliberRDM and Integrating with CaliberRM Overview The following sections provide information you need to successfully install CaliberRM for use with CaliberRDM. For specific guidance about installing, updating, or configuring CaliberRM, refer to the CaliberRM Help, or contact your sales engineering professional for assistance. Requirements for the CaliberRM Integration CaliberRM 2008 and CaliberRDM Installation The 32-bit and 64-bit versions of CaliberRDM both support the integration with CaliberRM, which is a 32-bit application. The installation process is different depending on the computer you plan to install CaliberRDM and CaliberRM and which bit version of CaliberRDM you install. Installing CaliberRDM and CaliberRM on the same computer Installing CaliberRDM (32-bit) and CaliberRM on different computers Installing CaliberRDM (64-bit) and CaliberRM on different computers If you want to install CaliberRDM and CaliberRM on the same computer, you must install the CaliberRM server, CaliberRM client, and the MPX services before attempting to install CaliberRDM. If you want to integrate the 32-bit version of CaliberRDM with a CaliberRM server on a different computer, you must first install the CaliberRM server, CaliberRM client, and the MPX services on the same computer you plan to install CaliberRDM. After installing CaliberRDM, you can access the CaliberRM Configuration utility and change the server settings to point to the desired CaliberRM server. For more information, see Changing the CaliberRM Server Settings on page 20. If you want to integrate the 64-bit version of CaliberRDM with a CaliberRM server on a different computer, you must first install the CaliberRM client SDK on the same computer you plan to install CaliberRDM. After installing the SDK, you must reboot before installing CaliberRDM. After installing CaliberRDM, you can access the CaliberRM Configuration utility and change the server settings to point to the desired CaliberRM server. For more information, see Changing the CaliberRM Server Settings on page 20. If you have not applied the CaliberRM 2008 SP1 Patch 12 or later (Patch 20 recommended), you must do so to ensure that CaliberRDM works properly with CaliberRM. The patch is available on the Micro Focus Customer Support Web site. Preparing CaliberRM for CaliberRDM If you are installing a new instance of CaliberRM and CaliberRDM for CaliberRM, there are some actions you should take in CaliberRM to ensure that you have a successful implementation of CaliberRDM with CaliberRM. Ensure you install CaliberRM completely with the correct patches before installing CaliberRDM. A complete installation includes CaliberRM Client, CaliberRM Server, and MPX services. 16 Installing CaliberRDM and Integrating with CaliberRM Overview

17 Because of certain restrictions in how projects and requirements are managed in CaliberRM, you need to plan user and group associations in advance before you install CaliberRDM for use with CaliberRM. Set up user accounts in CaliberRM that will need access to CaliberRDM. Later, these user accounts will be mirrored in CaliberRDM. Add the user accounts to the Administrator group, as well as to any other groups that you plan to have work with projects in CaliberRDM. For example, if you have a BusinessAnalysts group in CaliberRM whose group members will also work in CaliberRDM, ensure that all user accounts that you add are members of both the BusinessAnalyst group and the Administrators group in CaliberRM. Review the CaliberRM Help for instructions to set up user accounts and add user accounts to groups, as well as for permissions for baselining and sharing requirements. User Privileges The following conditions apply to user privileges that are required when CaliberRDM is installed to use jointly with CaliberRM. To create a new project in CaliberRDM, the CaliberRDM user must be a member of the CaliberRM Administrator's group. For CaliberRDM for CaliberRM users, a new feature in CaliberRM provides automatic Administrator permissions to a user who creates a project in CaliberRDM that is also used in CaliberRM. This update simplifies the project management issue, where the user needed Administrator permission before being allowed to make changes to a project. To work in an existing CaliberRDM project, the user must be a member of a CaliberRM group that is assigned to the existing CaliberRM project. The user can view the same projects in CaliberRDM and CaliberRM. The CaliberRDM user who is a member of a CaliberRM group assigned to a CaliberRM project has full access (create, read, update, and delete) to all CaliberRDM assets except requirements. Requirement security is determined by the CaliberRM security profile that is assigned to the user. CaliberRM-related Services When you install CaliberRM, you must select the StarTeam MPX message broker and StarTeam multicast service options. The MPX message broker and StarTeam multicast provide important services for the CaliberRDM - CaliberRM integration. MPX provides a method to publish events such as creating or deleting a requirement. Important: Requirements and other project assets will not update properly between the two products if the MPX message broker and StarTeam multicast services are not installed on the CaliberRM server. For instructions about how to install these services, refer to the CaliberRM Installation Guide which is available from the Technical Publications Web site. Installing CaliberRDM and Integrating with CaliberRM Install CaliberRM completely before attempting to install CaliberRDM. You must have the CaliberRM server, CaliberRM client, and the MPX services installed before attempting to install CaliberRDM, or the connection between CaliberRDM and CaliberRM will not take place. You will need to specify your CaliberRM server address, port number, and user name and password, and your user name must be included in the CaliberRM administrators group to complete this task. Installing CaliberRDM and Integrating with CaliberRM Overview 17

23 After creating a workspace, you can assign users permission to access the workspace. Adding a New User Account to a Workspace You can control access to projects in the CaliberRDM database by assigning projects to a workspace and giving access rights to the workspace for specific CaliberRDM users. A workspace must be created before you can create a new user account. You must be logged on to the CaliberRDM Admin Console as an administrator before proceeding with this task. Note: This topic provides concepts for a CaliberRDM installation without CaliberRM. If you are using CaliberRDM for CaliberRM, review the CaliberRM documentation for pertinent information about this topic. 1. Login as a CaliberRDM administrator. The Admin Console appears and displays all previously created workspaces. 2. Double-click the user workspace in which to add the new user account. The Workspace window opens. Important: Only a system administrator can add user accounts to a workspace. 3. Click New user on the toolbar. The New User dialog box opens. 4. Type the user name for the new user in the Name box. Note: Names, user names, or addresses are allowed for a user name. The only restriction is that the text entered is valid as a user name in your system, which might preclude spaces or other special characters in the text. 5. Type the user ID for the new user in the User ID box. Note: The User ID box is automatically completed with the user name you entered in the previous step. The user ID can be a combination of letters and numbers. You can either accept the default or change it. 6. Type the new password in the Password box. Note: Passwords are mandatory for user profiles. 7. Type the password again in the Confirm Password box. 8. From the Role list, select one of the following roles to assign the user: Reviewer Editor Project Administrator Permitted to view requirements and associated visualizations, open attachments of a requirement, view the change history of a requirement, and submit feedback on a requirement. Reviewers can also run associated visualizations of a requirement and submit feedback. Reviewers cannot create, edit, or delete requirements, simulations, scenarios, and other CaliberRDM objects. Permitted to create, edit, and delete requirements, simulations, scenarios, and other CaliberRDM objects. Editors can perform all functions related to requirements and visualizations, such as running simulations and submitting feedback. Has the same permissions as an editor, and, additionally, is permitted to import/export, delete, and configure projects to which the user is assigned. Logging on to CaliberRDM 23

24 Note: The default project administrator user ID is mmanager and the default password is mmanager. You can use this user ID to test-drive CaliberRDM without setting up an individual account and workspace. 9. Optional: Type a description in the Description box. 10. Click OK.The New User window closes and the user profile is added to the workspace table in the workspace folder that you chose. 11. Click Log off. CaliberRDM closes the Admin Console and displays the Log on window. 24 Logging on to CaliberRDM
