1 SERIES 3 Series 3 Command Centre Command Centre Series 3 Command Centre is the system software, supporting up to 64 doors, for Series 3 - an effective access control and alarms management security system.

2 Introducing Series 3 Series 3 is a comprehensive Microsoft Windows 2000/XP Professional based security system. It integrates access control and alarms management, intruder alarm monitoring, and a range of optional features such as PhotoID, CCTV and Cardholder Import. It is a network-friendly system, designed to use minimum bandwidth. The system s encrypted communications can utilise a purpose-provided LAN or an organisation s existing LAN or WAN and is Internet compatible. The database component used is Microsoft SQL 2000 Desktop Engine database. It is OPC (OLE for Process Control) enabled, facilitating the sharing of selected system information with other OPC enabled process control applications. 3 Series 3 Command Centre Series 3 Command Centre is the central control server for the Series 3 security system. As the central control server for the Cardax FT Series 3 system, Series 3 Command Centre provides: Configuration of the site and all system components Management of cardholders including their access Monitoring of security alarms and interaction with the system Retrieving and reporting on stored system information Optional features including production of PhotoID badges for cardholders. Series 3 is a powerful, yet operator friendly security system. It can be incorporated into a company s existing Local Area Network or Wide Area Network or reside on its own dedicated network. Series 3 Command Centre links to the Controllers and operator workstations over Ethernet using TCP/IP, a world standard network and Internet transmission protocol. Using this protocol means the system communications are Internet compatible. Wizards A suite of wizards is incorporated into Series 3 Command Centre software. These wizards assist the installer configure new sites and guides the user through the addition of hardware, doors and cardholders to existing sites. Distributed Intelligence The method of implementing Distributed Intelligence is a significant feature of the Series 3 system architecture. All field devices connecting to Controller 5000 and Cardax FT Controllers, can operate independently of the Series 3 Command Centre Server. This ensures that no matter what communication problems your Command Centre and Controllers may experience, your cardholders will be able to access areas they are permitted to access. The relevant fields of the cardholder database, alarm configuration and security parameters are downloaded to the Controllers allowing for instant access and alarm control decisions. Operating System and Database Server The Series 3 Command Centre Server and workstation software reside on the Microsoft Windows 2000/XP Professional operating system. The server component uses a Microsoft SQL 2000 Desktop Engine database. The database is provided at no additional cost, on the Series 3 Command Centre application CD. Renown for its data integrity and performance, Microsoft SQL is a commonly specified database used globally in a range of applications. It is easy to integrate and share selected data held in Series 3 Command Centre with other systems using the SQL database. OLE for Process Control (OPC) Series 3 Command Centre is OPC enabled, allowing status and event data to be shared with other OPC enabled applications. Using the OPC bridge, third party applications that use status and event information can be interfaced. OPC is an open and interoperable interface standard, based upon the functional requirements of the Microsoft COM/DCOM and Active X technologies. It fosters greater interoperability between automation/control applications, field systems/devices, and business/office applications. OPC eliminates the need for costly custom software integration. It gives customers the freedom to choose a solution based on an open industry standard. OPC is used globally and is fully backed by Microsoft. Further information can be found at Data Security All access control and event data is encrypted over the network. Between the Series 3 Command Centre server and Controllers, communications are encrypted using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Security technology. This standard is similar to technology used to secure internet banking transactions. Operators and Workstations Up to 3 workstations can be licensed with up to 3 operators active on the system at any one time. Up to 500 people can be defined as operators. Operators are assigned privileges, and can only perform functions if they have the correct privileges.

4 Site Plans Management of Alarms Cardholder Management Quickstart Wizard Site Plans Site plans show a graphical representation of the site and the real time status of remote field devices and logical entities. An operator can create site plans by importing map images of the site. Cardax FT Series 3 Command Centre supports standard Windows and CAD package graphics files such as BMP, DXF (via conversion utility) and WMF/EMF. Icons representing site items can be placed on these images. The icons placed on the map image show the real time status of all the site items they represent. Clicking on an icon displays the properties for that item. Many functions are carried out directly from site plans, for example, temporarily overriding the operation of a door. It is critical that while operators are viewing site plans they are aware of alarms occurring elsewhere in the system. On each site plan, an icon flashes to make it easy to navigate to the alarm source. Management of Alarms An alarm is a special event that requires urgent operator intervention, for example, a door is open longer than it should be, a device has been tampered with, or an intruder alarm has been activated. The Alarm Configuration routine in Cardax FT Series 3 Command Centre enables system administrators to define those site events to be set up as alarms. There are three items to be configured for each alarm: The alarm priority Up to 10 alarm priorities can be defined and assigned to alarms Action plans Where events are configured as alarms Alarm instructions Provide information and instructions to the operator when the alarm occurs. Intruder Alarm Monitoring The Series 3 system integrates full Intruder Alarm functionality eliminating the need for a separate intruder alarm system. Intruder detection zones can be configured to report four different states: set, unset, and two further states with user definable names. Selected cardholders can be authorised to set and unset specific alarm zones. Intruder Detection zones can also be set up with entry and exit delays. This gives cardholders time to enter and leave the site when changing the setting of the alarm zone. Remote Alarms Management For those sites that do not have on site security guard/s, alarm monitoring companies are commissioned to monitor the occurrence of security breaches from a central monitoring location. On occurrence of security breaches, security guards can be deployed to the site to investigate the breach and re-secure the site. The Series 3 system provides a Remote Alarms management solution that uses Command Centre Series 3 as the driving component for monitoring events and

5 Personal Data Fields The Find Window generating Contact ID transmissions over a modem. Contact ID is the protocol used for transmitting event/alarm occurrences over telecom lines. Cardholder Management Series 3 Command Centre provides an extensive cardholder database. Each cardholder record includes personal cardholder information and access information: The cardholder s first and last names Up to 64 personal data fields where personal data can be entered The access groups to which the cardholder belongs Detailed information about the card(s) held by the cardholder, for example, card number, facility code, technology type, issue level, and expiry date and time. Subject to operator privileges, an operator can create, delete and change cardholder records in the system. Any changes made are recorded as events. The system also downloads any changes made to the cardholder record to the relevant field devices. Access Groups Access groups make it possible to define access for groups of cardholders who share the same requirements. Each access group is named and includes the following information: Access where and when members of the group have access Members a list of cardholders who have joined the access group Personal Data Fields a collection of personal data field definitions attached to individual members Escort whether the members are allowed to act as escorts for visitors Set/Unset alarm zones member authorisation to set and unset certain alarms Whether members can change the state of the access zones. Access groups are displayed as a tree with branches having more specific access. A cardholder may belong to one or more access groups to get their full access privileges. For example, there may be an All Cardholders group to which all cardholders belong for commonly required access through the entrance and cafeteria. A cardholder acquires more specific access by joining other groups, for example, Head Office Managers Group. Up to 64,000 access groups can be defined in the system. Access is defined through access zones and time schedules. Up to 4,000 access zones and up to 100 access control time schedules can be defined in the system. Access groups offer flexibility in how different groups of cardholders are assigned access. Access groups also enable bulk changes to be easily applied to members of the group. Any changes to access or additions to Personal Data Fields will automatically apply to all members of the group. Personal Data Fields Personal data fields hold the relevant personal data required for a cardholder. For example, their first and last names, the department in which they work, and who they report to. Personal data fields are created as separate entities and are attached to access groups. Cardholders inherit the personal data fields from the access groups to which they belong. When viewing a cardholder s record, it will contain all the personal data fields specified in the access group(s)the cardholder belongs to. Personal data fields can be configured to be unique, mandatory, numeric or alphanumeric. A personal data field can also contain an image. Each cardholder record can have up to 64 personal data field definitions. It is possible to restrict the Personal Data Fields an operator can see and change through their operator privileges. The Find Window The Find Window is an efficient, powerful tool that makes it easy to search for information. It can be used to find any device, logical entity or cardholder in the system. Examples of typical searches include: Identifying the cardholder of a lost card that has been handed in Creating a list of cards which have been created, activated or expired before, after, or during a defined period

6 Identifying cardholders that have access to a particular access zone at a particular time. Reports A comprehensive range of report templates is available, including: Cardholder Report to give details of cardholder records Activity Report to view a subset of system activity Access Group Report, reporting properties of access groups. Evacuation Report to show the last known location of cardholders in an emergency Time and Attendance Report showing entry and exit times; and total time on site Site Configuration Report providing a hard copy back-up of the system configuration. Series 3 Command Centre Optional Features PhotoID is an optional feature that provides a fully integrated access control photo identification system Cardholder Import is an optional feature that allows for the importing of cardholder records from third party databases via an XML Remote Alarms Management (Contact ID) for off site alarm monitoring and response An optional for a Log Printer (dot matrix) is available providing output of events as they occur. Optional CCTV providing data to control CCTV systems.
