Published on CMS RNE ( Home > Dossier Creation (Create New Dossier Wizard) Dossier Creation (Create New Dossier Wizard) Content Read below the step by step procedure or watch the following video: Dossier creation demo There are several ways to create a dossier: Copy dossier Carry forward an existing dossier to the next timetable period Create a new dossier: Using the Create New Dossier Wizard (this document) From PaP Search (Please refer to "Select PaPs" document) In this part we will focus on the create new dossier function. The button is located on the upper left corner of the Dashboard. 1
If you clicked the button, you will be lead to the first step of the Create New Dossier Wizard (CNDW). The steps are: 1. Basic Data 2. Main RU TimeTable 3. Reference Calendar 4. Dossier-Level Data 5. Train Parameter 1. Basic Data It can happen that you already started to create a new dossier, however you didn't finish the creation for some reason. If you saved your progress always during the creation, then PCS automatically saves your dossier as draft. In order to open a draft a dossier and continue working with it, please use the button "Open an existing draft dossier" above the Basic Data box. 2
Then you will see your draft dossiers in a list, where you can select which one you would like to continue with. 3
If you decide to create a brand new dossier and not to use an existing draft dossier, then you have to fill out the basic data of the dossier as the first step. 4
As you can see on the picture dossier name is mandatory and international train number is optional. PCS automatically defines the process type of the dossier based on the particular timetable calendar (New, Late, Ad-Hoc). Default settings of dossier type is "Default", other types are usually selected, if Carry forward function is used. You can also select the train type, however the default is always provided by PCS based on the agency settings. 2. Main RU timetable This is the step where the RUs can define their requested timetables. To define the geography of the train route you can add operation points to the timetable. Please note that based on the already typed text PCS will propose possible operation points. 5
As you can see PCS provides empty station as default. If you like to add more stations, you can use the "Add a station" button, or you can let PCS add a new empty line automatically, after you finish one point. After you defined the time for the operation point and train number, click away from the train number field (or for example using the "Tab" button to go the next field) and PCS will add automatically an empty station to the bottom. 6
What kind of actions are available in this step? Days in service: it's a free text field that comes from the old times of PCS when the reference calendar was still not available. This is an optional field where the RUs sometimes define the days in service with text or with their special identification. Add and remove stations. Please note that re-ordering of stations is not supported. With the blue star you can define the reference point of the main timetable. Please note that only one reference point is possible and at least an arrival or a departure time is mandatory on the reference point. Later on this reference point will be the basis of the calendar, running days and offset calculation. Definition of arrival and departure time. Define earliest/latest times will be possible later, once when you have already created the dossier. Definition of dwell time Responsible RU: default settings is the dossier creator RU, who will be the leading RU in Open phase (leading RU can be changed later in Harmonization, for that, please edit agencies documentation). If you like, you can assign the stations to other RUs. Every RU is available in the list. Please note that they are organized by alphabetical order and filtered by agency type (if the train type of the dossier is cargo, you will see cargo agencies in the list) 7
Definition of train number and path number. Please note that this train number field is not the same as the international train number. 3. Reference calendar In the third step you are invited to define the reference calendar of the train. The validity period is set default to the whole timetable period by PCS. If you like, you can change the validity period actin on the "from - to" values. After the definition of the validity period it is the moment to define the running days of the train. PCS mark all days from the timetable period as running day by default. Then you have several possibilities to change these days: By circulation days: days of the week are marked there with their number (1-7). If you like to select or deselect every Monday, you just need to click on the "1" symbol. Monthly: selection and deselection is also possible by month. In this case please click on the abbreviation of the month and PCS will select or deselect those days from the calendar 8
Individually: you can customize your individual calendar selecting or deselecting only a couple days. In this case please click direclty on the particular day inside the calendar and PCS will select or deselect that day from the calendar. Yearly: if you like to get back the default settings (all running days are selected), then you can click on one of the year and PCS will put back all days of the validity period. 4. Dossier level data Based on the timetable, PCS automatically created the RU - IM pair structure. The result is shown in this step. In this step the leading RU is invited to select the leading IM of the dossier (IMs can agree to change the leading IM later, for that please check the edit agencies documentation). Similar to the reference point, the leading IM can be selected with the blue star. 9
Besides that, the dossier level parameters that are defined by the IMs are also presented here and it is possible to edit them. Please note that the IMs usually define their national parameters in their own language, but they are asked to provide English description that is reachable in a tooltip above the parameter name. If you like to hide the dossier-level parameters, you can click on the grey bar that contains the RU - IM pair and PCS will hide the parameters. 10
As we are in the wizard, it is possible to proceed further without fulfilling all the data (even the mandatory data). All those fields can be change later on in the dossier details. 5. Train parameters In the last step of the wizard you can define the train parameters on the operation point level. Among the parameters we have two areas: Common train parameters: these are the same for each station and for each RU/IM/RFC in PCS IM specific parameters: each IM can decide to define their own parameters. These can be on dossier level (as we saw in step 4) and on operation point level. Mandatory parameters are marked with an asterisk. If the format that you are trying to use is not compliant with the defined format, you will receive a red error message below the field. 11
On the picture we can see the parameters for one of the stations. If you like to check another station, just click on the station name on the left side. Usually the train parameters are quite stabile during the whole train rout or at least part of it. In this case it is useful to fulfill the parameters on only one station and copy these parameters to the other stations. 1. Fulfill the parameters on one station (you don't need to fulfill everything as we are in the wizard) 2. Save the parameters for this station. Save button can be found at the bottom of the screen 3. Click on the "Copy parameters to" button found at the end: this will open a window where you can define the copy options 12
You have several options to choose to customize the copy: Operation points 13
Select all: PCS will automatically select every operation point from the main timetable Select only my path sections: PCS will select only those operation points that belongs to the same IM as the point where we copy from. In this case we copy the parameters from one station that belongs to my specific IM: "Select only my path sections". PCS will select only the station related to my IM. Individually: you can select one by one using the check-boxes next to the operation points Copying options, what should PCS copy? Common train parameters: in this case PCS will copy only the common train parameters without the activity and location types Activity types: common train parameters extended with the actvitiy types Location types: common train parameters extended with the location types IM Parameters: PCS will copy the IM specific parameters too. Please note that these parameters can be copied only to one IM agency and that is why with this option PCS will deselect those operation points that do not belong to the particular IM, in our example only those points will be selected that belong to my IM. When you are ready with the selection, please click on the "Apply to selected path sections" button that is at the bottom. PCS will ask for confirmation in a pop-up window: It is also possible to create a template from the parameters. For further details please check the Train Parameters Template document. At the end of the steps we are ready and the dossier will be created after clicking the button at the bottom of the page. 14
After that you will be directly to the dossier details where you can check the first version of your dossier in Open phase. Please note that each action that you performed in the wizard can be modified in the dossier details, so you should not worry if you forgot or missed something.
