2 INTRODUCTION TO MINDJET ON-PREMISE Mindjet n-premise gives cmpanies utilizing Micrsft SharePint the ability t view and display Mindjet map (.mmap) files directly within the SharePint envirnment, withut requiring any prprietary sftware installed n the user s lcal cmputer. In additin, yu can cnfigure the SharePint server t let users edit maps directly frm SharePint lists and embed map Web Parts in yur SharePint sites. High-level Technical Overview Mindjet n-premise is a SharePint Slutin Package and wrks cmpletely within the SharePint framewrk. There are n external dependencies, such as the custm databases r external services that ther SharePint slutins smetimes use. The prduct is cmprised f the fllwing features, each functining at a different lgical level in SharePint: Administratin wrks at the server farm level by prvisining the Mindjet Administratin page t SharePint s Central Administratin. Mindjet n-premise wrks at the web applicatin level t add all cre mapping functinality t a SharePint web applicatin, including Save, View in Brwser, Edit in Brwser, Open in Desktp, and New Map. Als, any new site cllectins created in the web applicatin will autmatically have Mindjet n-premise functinality. Web Part wrks at the site cllectin level and deplys the dashbard map Viewer Web Part t be included in any SharePint Web Part page. ifilter wrks at the farm level t add indexing functinality t.mmap files fr use in SharePint searches. Installatin Mindjet n-premise integrates with any flavr f SharePint 2007 r 2010, including the FREE WSS 3.0 and SharePint Fundatin 2010-nly installatins. 3 Mindjet n-premise can be either autmatically r manually installed. Autmatic Installatin: SharePint Administratrs can run the installer n a single server within their SharePint server farm using the same administratin accunt they usually emply. The installer has the ability t upgrade slutins, s any future versins can be installed using the same simple prcess. N server rebt is necessary: the slutin deplyment (similar t mst ther slutin deplyments) will autmatically reset IIS. Manual Installatin: SharePint Administratrs can use their standard SharePint slutin deplyment prcess (Stsadm). Future versins can be installed using the stsadm - upgradeslutin cmmand, eliminating the need t manually deactivate and uninstall the lder slutin first befre installing the newer versin. ifilter: The ifilter must be installed separately and the Administratr needs t run it n every Indexing server in the Farm. Please see the Mindjet ifilter Manual Installatin (available n the dwnlad site) fr mre infrmatin. Security The availability f map editing functinality is cntrlled by the SharePint security mdel. Mindjet npremise hnrs users SharePint read/write permissins t dcuments. There are tw mdes fr saving SharePint data in a map: secure and unsecure. Users wh have edit privileges fr a.map will have the ability t save in either mde. SharePint Disaster Recvery plans The nly Mindjet n-premise infrmatin stred within the SharePint envirnment are the unique licenses, which are stred in the cntent database. In a standard SharePint Disaster Recvery plan, the cntent database is backed up and, therefre, the unique licenses will be backed up alng with it. Migratins frm SharePint 2007 t SharePint 2010 Fr custmers wh are using SharePint 2007 and are planning t migrate t SharePint 2010, the same installer and license key can be used t enable Mindjet n-premise in the custmer s new 2010 envirnment. All unique licenses are migrated t SharePint 2010 as part f migratin prcess. Functinality Mindjet n-premise adds fur distinct capabilities t the SharePint envirnment: 2012 Mindjet. 4 1. View maps: This allws users with SharePint access t view any map stred in a dcument library. Users can select View in Brwser frm the dcument list t pen the selected map in Mindjet. 2. Edit maps: This allws users with SharePint access t edit any map stred in SharePint. Users can select Edit in Brwser t pen and begin editing a map Mindjet. 5 3. Interact with SharePint items: This allws users t bth search and create SharePint tasks frm a map. Once a task has been sent t SharePint, r brught int a.mmap file via the SharePint search, data frm the task will be synched bi-directinally between the map and SharePint. 4. Create new maps frm SharePint: This allws SharePint users t create new maps frm the dcument library. 6 5. Mindjet n-premise Viewer Web Part: This allws a user with page edit privileges t add a Web Part t a SharePint page that displays a Mindjet map. The Web Part references a map file stred in a SharePint dcument list and displays it in an embedded viewer in the user s SharePint page. Fr mre infrmatin abut using the Mindjet Viewer: 1. 7 License and Administratin The Mindjet n-premise Administratin page allws a SharePint administratr t view the fllwing: Mindjet n-premise Administratr address this address is displayed in errr messages sent t users, s that they can cntact the Administratr directly. Warning messages relating t license key expiratin r license nn-cmpliance als cntain this . License Key if the Administratr des nt enter a license key int the prduct during installatin, the installed system will be a trial versin f Mindjet n-premise. Trial versins expire 30 days after the installatin date. If yu purchase additinal user licenses r extend yur subscriptin term fr Mindjet npremise, yu will be given a new license key. After the Administratr enters the new license key, the number f Licenses Purchased (see belw) and/r the Cntract Expiratin Date (see belw) will be updated within the prduct t reflect yur purchase, and will include the ttal number f user licenses allwed during yur new subscriptin term. License Cntract Number each SharePint server farm installatin will have its wn cntract assciated with it. If yu need t purchase additinal licenses, yu must reference this License Cntract Number when yu call yur sales representative. 8 Licenses Used when a user saves a map int SharePint frm Mindjet n-premise, they are cunted as a Licensed User. (Nte: users wh view maps and/r edit maps withut saving the changes back int SharePint are nt cunted as Licensed Users.) Yu can cntrl the number f users wh will be cunted as Licensed Users by setting map file permissins in SharePint t read-nly, s that the user (r user grup) cannt save changes back t the SharePint lcatin. Users are cnsidered Licensed fr 90 days frm the date they last saved a map frm Mindjet int SharePint; if a user des nt access the applicatin fr 90 days, they are n lnger cnsidered a Licensed User. When the number f licenses used exceeds the number f licenses purchased, any additinal users (thse nt already cunted as Licensed) wh attempt t save a map frm Mindjet int SharePint will receive a warning message cntaining the Administratr address. Nte: these un-licensed users will still be able t save the map they are wrking n when they receive the ntificatin; they simply need t clse the errr message first. Installatin date The Mindjet n-premise license expires after the license perid lapses. Cntract Expiratin date tw weeks after the Cntract Expiratin date, users will receive a warning message when they use Mindjet n-premise advising them that the license has expired. If the administratr has entered an address in the SharePint Administratr address field, this address will be displayed in the warning message s that users will knw wh t cntact. Licensed Users this displays the names f users wh have saved maps int SharePint and the last date they have saved a map.
