Overall Solution: Q: What are the components of the victor solution? A: Currently there are 3 main components that make up our new solution: - Recorders (Intellex DVR V3.2+ and/or VideoEdge NVR V4) - victor site manager software - victor unified client software Q: Can I use the victor solution with my existing Intellex DVR? A: Yes, the victor site manager and victor unified client software can be used to manage your existing Intellex DVRs Rev A0

2 Q: Can I use the victor solution with my existing VideoEdge NVR V3? A: No, the victor site manager and victor unified client software will only support NVR V4. We will have an upgrade path for existing NVR V3 customers. Q: How is your solution licensed? A: Currently there are 2 components that are licensed: - VideoEdge NVR V4 server is licensed based on total number of IP video inputs - victor site manager software is licensed based on total number of concurrent victor unified clients - victor unified client software is NOT licensed and can be installed on multiple compatible computers - victor player software is NOT licensed and can be installed on multiple compatible computers Q: What video codec s does the solution support? A: No, mixed environment of the clients and servers is not supported. If the victor site manager is in a Domain, then the victor unified clients must also be in the Domain. 4 2. VideoEdge NVR V4 Q: How is the NVR being sold? A: VideoEdge NVR V4 is offered as bundled server solutions: - 2U Rack Mount Server with 1TB of internal storage and a 16-camera license - 2U Rack Mount Server with 3TB of internal storage and a 16-camera license - 2U Rack Mount Server with 5TB of internal storage and a 16-camera license - 2U Rack Mount Server with 10TB of internal storage and a 16-camera license Q: How many cameras can be supported on the NVR (with and without running motion detection)? A: It will depend on the frame rate, quality setting and resolution of the cameras, but as a minimum we can support 64 H.264 (0.5Mb/s) with all cameras supporting motion meta-data. The NVR has a maximum throughput of 400Mbit/s which includes the main and meta-data video streams. Q: Does the NVR support Camera-Side Motion Detection, Server-Side Motion Detection or can it do both? A: Server-side motion detection is supported by the VideoEdge NVR V4 server. Q: Does the NVR support multi-stream IP video? A: Dual-stream and single-stream camera devices are supported by the VideoEdge NVR V4 server. Q: Does the NVR support audio? A: The NVR supports unidirectional audio from the camera Q: What is the supported camera list for the NVR? A: VideoEdge NVR V4 server will initially support the following: - American Dynamics - Arecont Vision - Axis Refer to the Release Notes for latest list of model numbers. Additional camera handlers are being qualified and will be available as a NVR flash upgrade, so please refer to the American Dynamics web site for any updates regarding camera handlers. Q: How much storage can the NVR support? A: Up to 206TB can be supported by the VideoEdge NVR V4 server for video storage - Maximum of 103 Virtual Disks - Maximum of 2TB or smaller in size spanning across multiple Storage Sections - Maximum of 20 volumes per Storage Section Please refer to the American Dynamics web site for any updates regarding storage Rev A0

5 Q: What type of storage is supported by the NVR? A: VideoEdge NVR V4 supports the following: - Internal Storage on NVR bundled servers - External iscsi Storage - External Fibre Channel (single-path) Storage Please refer to the American Dynamics web site for any updates regarding qualified storage. Q: How many hours of video can my recorder support? A: This will vary based on a variety of factors: - Total number of cameras - Available storage - Camera type and settings (e.g. fps, resolution, codec, quality, etc.) - Recording mode (e.g. continuous recording, motion-based recorder, scheduled recording, etc.). Please work with your Integrator or the Applications Engineering team to help size the number and types of cameras, number of recorders with amount of storage that is applicable to your security requirements. 3. victor site manager Q: What is the purpose of victor site manager? A: victor site manager is the single point of access for authorizing users to manage multiple recording devices. Q: Do I need a dedicated PC to run victor site manager? A: No, you can run both victor site manager and victor unified client on the same PC. However, if you plan to have many clients, then a dedicated server-grade PC would be recommended. Q: What DVR and NVR recorders are supported by victor site manager? A: Initially, the American Dynamics Intellex DVRs and VideoEdge NVR V4 will be supported. Additional recorders will be qualified in the near future. Please refer to the American Dynamics web site for any updates regarding qualified recorders. Q: How do I install my victor site manager license? A: From the services manager, point the application at the new license, and then STOP-START the services site manager computer Q: How many concurrent victor unified clients can be supported by victor site manager? A: We recommend up to 20 concurrent client connections per victor site manager Rev A0

6 Q: Can victor site manager integrate with Active Directory or LDAP? A: No, it does not fully integrate with Active Directory, but does support single sign-on. Q: What type of database can be used with victor site manager? A: Microsoft SQL database (2005 or 2008) is supported. For sites with large number of cameras, activity, and/or users, we recommend using standard SQL. The SQL Express version can be used for smaller sites because it is free, but has a limited database file size. 4. victor unified client Q: How many cameras can be displayed simultaneously on a single victor unified client workstation? A: It will depend of the spec of the client PC and the resolution/frame rate of the streams, but for the gaming specification as a minimum supports: fps for H.264 streams (~1.5Mb/s), OR fps for MJPEG streams (160Mbits/s) Reducing the frame rate per stream will enable correspondingly more camera displays. For Intellex video, we can display fps for ACC streams (Normal/Normal). Q: How many monitors can be supported on a single victor unified client workstation? A: Up to 4 monitors. The video card(s) should have sufficient onboard memory. Q: When doing motion search on forensic video, how do I minimize false positive and search times? A: It is recommended that you draw a smaller and precise area of interest (selection area) where you are trying to detect activity. Q: What should I do when I cannot add a recording device to the victor unified client device list? A: Check the following: - Try to ping the recorder device directly from a Command Prompt - Ensure that the username and password are correct, and - Ensure that the Intellex and VideoEdge driver services are running on the victor site manager. Q: What should I do when I cannot see live video from any camera after successfully adding the recorder? A: Check your firewall settings and try to DISABLE it, and then re-launch victor unified client. Q: What should I do when I cannot see live video from a specific camera? Rev A0

7 A: Check the status icon of the camera under the Device List to make sure that it is online, as well as the recorder which is managing the camera. Q: What should I do when I am not getting the expected performance from a specified camera? A: Check to make sure that: - Camera is online - Camera is not shared by more than one recorder - Camera settings used by the recorder - PC s connection status and speed to the LAN/WAN, and - PC s CPU load on your machine Scale down to a single 1x1 View to see if you get different results. 5. victor player Q: Does victor player need installed? A: No, victor player is stand alone and does not require installation. Q: Will victor player modify the host machine in anyway? A: No, victor player runs in its own virtual environment and will not modify the host machine. Q: Does victor player require a license? A: No Q: How many cameras can be displayed simultaneously? 8 6. Various Other Questions Q: Why is Media Player or QuickTime unable to play certain recorded video? A: In Media Player, it may lack the proper decoder (e.g. H.264) to playback the recorded video. In QuickTime, check the preferences to UNCHECK the enable direct3d video acceleration Rev A0
