1 CP600 Card Programmer Quick Start Guide Software Version , Rev A.0 The CP600 Card Programmer is designed for on-site programming of access control and user data onto MIFARE DESFire EV1 credentials for use with iclass migration readers. It allows access control data formats, and user data fields to be programmed directly into MIFARE DESFire EV1 contactless smart cards. Furthermore, the CP600 provides the facility to configure readers with Secure Keys matching those in use on the programmed credentials and is performed either through the creation of configuration cards or direct serial connection to the reader. Each Programmer is supplied with a dedicated SAM and an HID customer license to prevent misuse and fraud. This provides a secure and user friendly environment for a customer to manage their custom keys and reader configuration. For ease of use the CP600 Programmer is supplied with everything you need to manage your system. Included is a USB Desktop Programmer, Reader Configuration Cards and Sample Credentials. Furthermore, the CP600 Programmer software has a built in configuration wizard, allowing a simple approach to the complex task of managing keys and configuring readers. iclass High Frequency Migration Readers provide advanced smart card security, the flexibility to adapt to existing card populations in the field, the power of smart cards and the confidence of choosing Genuine HID. 2 CP600 Card Programmer A.0 Getting Started Note: You must have Administrator privileges to complete the following Installation, and Start-up procedures. 1 Install the Programmer drivers from the USB Flash Drive or go to and download the latest OMNIKEY 5321 Drivers. See References on page 4 for accessing the OMNIKEY Diagnostic Tool and User Guide. 2 Install the USB to UART Cable Drivers. Go to com/drivers/vcp.htm and download the appropriate drivers for your system. 3 After installing the drivers, attach the OMNIKEY 5321 Smart Card Reader to the computer s USB port. 4 Insert the USB Flash Drive into the computers USB port. Go to the Setup folder and double-click Setup.exe to install the CP600 Software and Drivers. 5 Insert the Security Card into the OMNIKEY 5321 Smart Card Reader. 6 During installation, the CP600 does not load the necessary IclassConfigTool.xml file. This file is matched to your security card. The software starts, but is mostly disabled. In the Preferences drop-down box (lower right corner), select Import Config XML and follow the instructions to enable all features. Note: Perform the Import Config XML action only after the installation of the software or whenever you want to switch security cards. Security Card - SAM Password In order to write keys to a credential, you must login to the Security Card. The Security Card default password is hid. When prompted for the password, you may choose to change the password at that time. 2 QUICK START GUIDE

3 A.0 CP600 Card Programmer User Interface Overview There are six key steps to deploying readers and configuration cards. 1. Define a Key Profile 2. Define a Data Model 3. Define an Encoder Profile 4. Define a Reader Configuration Profile 5. Configure and Deploy Readers 6. Encode and Deploy Credentials Manage Keys provides access to the Key Manager. Encode DESFire Credentials provides access to credential encoding. Configuration Wizard guides you through configuration settings required for later when configuring the reader or configuration card. Configure Reader displays the configuration parameters resulting from the Configuration Wizard inputs. Status bar displays error and status messages. See the CP600 Programmer User Guide for an example of this process. Data Backup Backup the CP600 Encoder database regularly to protect your data. 1. Locate ReaderCfg-DMK.mdb (C:\Program Files\HID Global\CP600 Encoder). 2. Copy to a removable media. 3. Store in a safe location. 4. To restore by copying the ReaderCfg-DMK.mdb to C:\Program Files\HID Global\CP600 Encoder and restart the CP600 Encoder software.
