Preparing the Axis interface module for enrollment Preparing the Axis interface module for enrollment Before you enroll the Axis interface module on SMC, you need to ensure that it is using the supported firmware version, and that the proper Axis users are created. Before you begin Make sure you have the following: Axis A1001 Network Door Controller Installation Guide. Instruction manual for the wiring and installation of Axis A1001 interface module, as well as the connection to the interface module using a web browser. Axis A1001 Network Door Controller & Axis Entry Manager User Manual. Instruction manual for the configuration of the Axis A1001 interface module using its on-board webbased configuration interface, called Axis Entry Manager. Supported Axis A1001 firmware. See "Supported Axis interface modules" on page 2. To prepare the Axis interface module for enrollment: 1 Connect the Axis interface module to your network. 2 Using a web browser, connect to the Axis interface module. Enter the Axis module s IP address or host name (axis-s/n, example: axis-00408c184c93) in the browser s location or address field. If you do not know the IP address, use Axis IP Utility to locate the module on the network. For information about how to discover and assign an IP address, see the Axis A1001 Network Door Controller Installation Guide. 3 Log on to Axis Entry Manager. 4 Upgrade the module firmware to the supported version if necessary. The current firmware version is displayed on the Overview page. 5 If after the upgrade you get the error message Failed to retrieve device information, please reload page, then reset the module to its factory default settings. Click Setup > Additional Controller Configuration > System Options > Maintenance > Default. 6 Add a new user to be used by SMC to connect to the Axis interface module. a Click Setup > Additional Controller Configuration > System Options > Security > Users > Add. b Enter the username and password. 7 Add an ONVIF user as member of the Administrator group. a Click Setup > Additional Controller Configuration > System Options > Security > ONVIF > Add. b Enter the same username and password as the new user you just added. c Select Administrator as the User group, and click OK. gtap.genetec.com Synergis Master Controller 2.2 Integration Guide for Axis Interface Modules 7
Preparing the Axis interface module for enrollment 8 Activate the standalone mode to prevent security issues. Click Setup > Manage Network Door Controllers in system > Activate standalone mode. After you finish Enroll the Axis interface module on SMC (see "Preparing SMC for the enrollment of Axis interface modules" on page 9). gtap.genetec.com Synergis Master Controller 2.2 Integration Guide for Axis Interface Modules 8
Preparing SMC for the enrollment of Axis interface modules Preparing SMC for the enrollment of Axis interface modules You need to install an Axis plugin on SMC before you can enroll Axis interface modules. Before you begin Make sure you get the latest SMC firmware and Axis plugin from your Genetec representative. The SMC firmware file is named Release_2.2.xxx.y.smc, and the Axis plugin file is named Axis_2.2.mmm.n.smc. To prepare SMC for enrolling Axis interface modules: 1 Log on to SMC (see the Synergis Master Controller Configuration Guide). 2 On the Home page, click Firmware upgrade. 3 If the Current firmware version is not the latest, upgrade it. a Click Select upgrade file. b In the browser window, select the latest SMC firmware file (Release_2.2.xxx.y.smc), and click Open. c In the confirmation message box, click OK. The upgrade takes a few minutes, and SMC will restart. 4 Log back on to SMC (see the Synergis Master Controller Configuration Guide). 5 On the Home page, click Firmware upgrade. 6 Confirm that the current firmware is indeed the version you need. 7 Click Select upgrade file. 8 In the browser window, select the Axis plugin version that corresponds to your SMC firmware version (Axis_2.2.mmm.n.smc), and click Open. 9 In the confirmation message box, click OK. The plugin takes a few minutes to install. But unlike the SMC firmware upgrade, it does not restart SMC. When the plugin is installed, you are brought back to the Home page. After you finish Enroll the Axis interface modules on SMC (see "Enrolling the Axis interface modules on SMC" on page 10). gtap.genetec.com Synergis Master Controller 2.2 Integration Guide for Axis Interface Modules 9
Enrolling the Axis interface modules on SMC Enrolling the Axis interface modules on SMC For SMC to communicate with the Axis interface modules connected to it, you must enroll them with SMC Portal. Before you begin Prepare your Axis interface modules for enrollment (see "Preparing the Axis interface module for enrollment" on page 7). Prepare your SMC unit for enrolling Axis interface modules (see "Preparing SMC for the enrollment of Axis interface modules" on page 9). What you should know SMC sets all Axis input contacts and output relays with a default configuration when it enrolls the interface module. Axis and SMC use different terminology to describe their settings. The default settings pushed by SMC at enrollment, as well as their equivalent meaning in Axis terminology is illustrated in the following table: I/O contact Default SMC settings Axis equivalent Output H1 Fail secure (not shown) Locked = GND Output H2 Fail secure (not shown) Locked = GND Output relay1 Fail secure (not shown) Locked = Relay open Input REX-IN2 rmally open Active low Input REX-IN4 rmally open Active low Input Monitor-IN1 rmally open Open circuit = Closed door Input Monitor-IN4 rmally open Open circuit = Closed door IMPORTANT If the REX and door monitor contacts on the Axis interface module do not operate according to SMC s default configuration, you need to change their settings on Axis Entry Manager, after the enrollment is completed. Failing to do so will cause wrong door status to be detected, resulting in wrong events to be generated in Security Center. To enroll the Axis interface module on SMC: 1 Log on to SMC (see the Synergis Master Controller Configuration Guide). 2 On the Home page, click Hardware. 3 At the bottom of the page, click Add ( ). 4 In the Add hardware dialog box, select Axis as the Hardware type. 5 Select the IP channel where the Axis interface module is connected. 6 Enter the connection parameters required to connect to the Axis interface module. gtap.genetec.com Synergis Master Controller 2.2 Integration Guide for Axis Interface Modules 10
Enrolling the Axis interface modules on SMC IP address. Use the IP address of the Axis interface module. You cannot use the hostname. Port. HTTP port (default = 80). Username/Password. New username and password configured in Axis Entry Manager. All fields are necessary. 7 Click Save ( ), then click Refresh ( ). The hardware type, channel, and interface module you just added appear in the hardware tree. It can take up to one minute for the interface module to come online. 8 If you need to reconfigure the contact types on the Axis interface module, do the following: gtap.genetec.com Synergis Master Controller 2.2 Integration Guide for Axis Interface Modules 11
Enrolling the Axis interface modules on SMC a b c Log on to Axis Entry Manager. Click Setup > Hardware Reconfiguration. Set your input and output contact types to their correct settings. NOTE This does not change the contact types shown in the I/O diagnostics page in SMC Portal, nor does this change the contact types shown in the SMC unit s Peripherals tab in Config Tool. However, the State of the contacts are correctly displayed. 9 Test your interface module connection and configuration with the I/O diagnostics page (see the Synergis Master Controller Configuration Guide). See also "About the tamper inputs" on page 13 and "Troubleshooting" on page 13. After you finish Enroll the SMC unit in Security Center (see "Enrolling the SMC unit in Security Center" in the Synergis Master Controller Configuration Guide). gtap.genetec.com Synergis Master Controller 2.2 Integration Guide for Axis Interface Modules 12
Enrolling the Axis interface modules on SMC About the tamper inputs Troubleshooting The Axis interface module features two tamper inputs that can be monitored in Security Center. These inputs are: Input Tampered. This input is active when: Input IN3 on one of the two reader I/O connectors is active, or Front tampering alarm sensor is activated, or Back tampering alarm switch is activated Input CasingOpen. This input is active when: Front tampering alarm sensor is activated, or Back tampering alarm switch is activated. The front and back tampering alarms can be disabled by putting a jumper on the respective 2- pin Tampering Alarm Pin Header. Tampering alarm pin header front (TF) Tampering alarm pin header back (TB) If the Axis interface module does not appear online, do the following: Double check if its IP was entered correctly (see Step 6 of "Enrolling the Axis interface modules on SMC" on page 10). Make sure the two users were created in Axis Entry Manager (see "Preparing the Axis interface module for enrollment" on page 7) and that both have the same username and password which is used for enrolling the Axis module on SMC (see "Enrolling the Axis interface modules on SMC" on page 10). Verify the SMC Integrator troubleshooting logs for errors. There will be an ERROR log if the firmware on the Axis interface module is not supported OR the user and password used to log on are incorrect. gtap.genetec.com Synergis Master Controller 2.2 Integration Guide for Axis Interface Modules 13
