1 Avid Iterplay Budle Versio 2.5 Cofigurator ReadMe Overview This documet provides a overview of Iterplay Budle v2.5 ad describes how to ru the Iterplay Budle cofiguratio tool. Iterplay Budle v2.5 refers to a co-istall of the followig applicatios: Iterplay Egie v2.5 Media Idexer v2.5 Avid Service Framework with Lookup service v1.5 (optio) Iterplay Adapter (for AirSpeed ad CaptureMaager) v2.5 c For Iterplay v2.5, a cofigurator tool is available to optimize the performace of the Iterplay Egie ad Media Idexer ruig o a Iterplay Budle system. The tool performs the followig operatios: Adjusts the amout of memory available to the Iterplay Egie ad Media Idexer Adjusts the umber of available Media Idexer worker processes (ummdworker) Adjusts the available thread cout for the Avid_Workgroup_Preview_Server (Apache) Ru the cofigurator tool after you istall the Iterplay Egie ad Media Idexer.

2 System Requiremets The umber of cliets supported by Iterplay Budle v2.5 depeds o a umber of factors as listed i the followig table. System Operatig System RAM Database Page Limit a Cocurret Cliet Cout AS3000 Widows Server 2008 R2 12 GB 1,800, SR2500 Widows Server 2003 (64-bit) 9 GB 1,200, Widows Server 2003 (32-bit) 4 GB 250, SR2400 Widows Server 2003 (32-bit) 4 GB 250, a. See Iterplay Database Page Limit o page 3. The Iterplay Budle is ot supported o a Iterplay Egie cluster system. The 12 GB AS3000, plus Widows Server 2008 R2, plus Iterplay v2.5 is the oly hardware/os/iterplay Budle cofiguratio to support 30 cliets. Note that the SR2400 is a older system ad is oly recommeded for sites that are maitaiig a existig Iterplay Budle ruig o a SR2400 system. Searches, igests, ad Iterplay database asset deletio are slower o a SR2400 system. The AS3000 ad 64-bit SR2500 are the recommeded servers. Iterplay Cliet ad Database Requiremets Cliet Cout A Iterplay cliet is defied as follows: Iterplay cliets iclude applicatios that eed to logi ad perform asset maagemet fuctios such as check i, check out, ad search. This icludes applicatios such as Avid editig applicatios, Avid Istict, Avid Assist, Avid Iterplay Access, Iterplay Capture, Low Res Ecode, AirSpeed Multi Stream, Iterplay Web Services, Iterplay Trasfer, ad Media Services providers such as Publish, Delivery, ad Trascode. 3 Cofigurig a Iterplay Budle System Iterplay Database Page Limit The metric of total used database pages provides a cosistet way to determie whether you are operatig withi the performace limits of your system. Techically, a database page is a fixed size, cotiguous block of data that cotais persisted database cotet. To maitai a acceptable level of performace, the total umber of used database pages should ot exceed the recommeded database page limit for your system. The total umber of used Iterplay database pages ca be foud i the log file amed NXNServer_<date>.log i the followig directory: C:\Program Files\Avid\Avid Iterplay Egie\Logs\Machies\<machie ame> Search for the text strig AvidWG pages total. Refer to the table i System Requiremets o page 2 for the recommeded limits o the umber of database pages supported o differet systems. These values take ito accout the system speed ad the amout of available RAM. If the total used pages exceeds the recommeded limit for your system, performace may degrade ad slowdows may occur. I this case, do oe the followig: Delete assets i the Iterplay database to brig the total umber of pages dow below the recommeded limit for your system. Move to a more powerful system for the Iterplay Budle as show i the table uder System Requiremets o page 2. Move to a dedicated Iterplay Egie with more RAM. Cofigurig a Iterplay Budle System This sectio describes the procedure for istallig the software ad also describes how to ru the cofigurator tool to set the correct memory requiremets for the Iterplay Egie ad Media Idexer. IterplayBudleCofigurator25 is available as a dowload. See your Avid represetative for additioal iformatio. To istall the Iterplay Budle software: 1. Select a system with the appropriate operatig system ad memory requiremets. See System Requiremets o page 2. I the case of a SR2500 with a 64-bit OS, use the Recovery DVD used for a 64-bit Media Idexer (Part Number: ) to prepare the system. 3

4 For iformatio o istallig software o a AS3000, see Migratig Avid Iterplay Applicatios to AS3000 Servers o the Avid Kowledge Base. Use the same OS recovery software as used for the Iterplay Egie (o-clustered). The OS is Widows Server 2008 R2. 2. Use the procedures described i the Iterplay v2.5 Readme to istall or upgrade the Iterplay Egie. Use the Iterplay v2.5 Server istallatio USB flash drive. For upgrades, the Iterplay istallatio might iclude a database upgrade ad it is importat to follow the upgrade procedure i the Iterplay ReadMe. This icludes disablig the database before the istallatio begis. 3. Use the followig procedure to istall the Avid Service Framework ad Media Idexer. a. O the Iterplay v2.5 Server istallatio flash drive, select the followig: Servers > Avid Iterplay Media Idexer b. Select your server type (32-bit or 64-bit). Note that a AS3000 is 64-bit. c. Istall Avid Service Framework for Server. d. Istall Avid Iterplay Media Idexer. 4. (Optio) Istall the Iterplay Adapter from the Idividual Optioal Istallers sectio of the server istallatio flash drive. For additioal iformatio, see Iterplay Adapter ad Iterplay Budle o page Ru the cofigurator tool as described i the followig procedure. Istall both Iterplay Egie ad Media Idexer before you ru the cofigurator. If you update oe of the compoets later, you must ru the cofigurator agai. To ru the IterplayBudleCofigurator25 tool: 1. Copy the IterplayBudleCofigurator25 zip file to the Iterplay Egie system. For example, copy the file to the Desktop. 2. Uzip the file. The system creates a folder that cotais the executable ad a copy of this ReadMe file. 3. Double click IterplayBudleCofigurator25.exe ad follow the system prompts. The tool makes the followig cofiguratio chages: - Adjusts the amout of memory available to the Iterplay Egie ad Media Idexer - Adjusts the umber of available Media Idexer worker processes (ummdworker) - Adjusts the available thread cout for the Avid_Workgroup_Preview_Server (Apache) 4

5 Cofigurig a Iterplay Budle System IterplayBudleCofigurator25 oly rus o a system cotaiig Iterplay Egie v2.5 ad Media Idexer v2.5. The tool also creates a Backup folder i the followig directory: C:\Program Files\Avid\Avid Iterplay Budle The Backup folder cotais copies of the origial cofiguratio files. To reset the system back to its origial settigs: t Use the Add/Remove Programs tool i the Cotrol Pael to remove Avid Iterplay Budle Cofigurator v2.5. The Remove operatio uses the files i the Backup folder to restore the Iterplay Egie ad Media Idexer to their previous settigs. Iterplay Adapter ad Iterplay Budle The Iterplay Adapter (also referred to as the MMAdapter) is used by AirSpeed Classic ad CaptureMaager systems as described i the followig table. System Requires Iterplay Adapter Commets AirSpeed Classic Yes Used to coect to the Iterplay Egie. Oe Iterplay Adapter ca service up to 10 AirSpeed systems. CaptureMaager Yes Used to check i clips to the Iterplay database. Third party applicatios Check the third party documetatio Used by some third party applicatios for checki ad search fuctios. AirSpeed Multi Stream No If the AirSpeed Multi Stream is cotrolled by CaptureMaager, the a Iterplay Adapter is still required for CaptureMaager. Iterplay Capture No If a AirSpeed Classic is i the eviromet, the AirSpeed classic requires Iterplay Adapter Where you istall the Iterplay Adapter depeds o how heavily you use your AirSpeed systems. You ca istall the Iterplay Adapter o a Iterplay Budle system. However, If you fid that system performace degrades whe you perform a lot of AirSpeed trasfers, the move the Iterplay Adapter to a differet server. Differet servers iclude the CaptureMaager server or a Geeral Purpose server. 5
