INTRODUCTION This guide shows how to remove a cracked or broken LCD screen on the LG Chocolate Touch VX- 8575. Be prepared to handle and keep track of very small pieces, including 3.5mm screws. TOOLS: Phillips #00 Screwdriver (1) ifixit Opening Tools (1) ifixit CC BY-NC-SA www.ifixit.com Page 2 of 9

Step 1 Battery Using your thumb, apply pressure to the back cover while sliding it down and off. Lift and remove the back cover. Step 2 Locate the battery. It is the large black rectangle with the LG logo, a model number, and battery information. Using your thumb or thumbnail, insert a thumb into the crescent indent just below the battery and apply pressure to the battery, pushing up and away from the phone. It will come out easily. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA www.ifixit.com Page 3 of 9

Step 3 Front Cover Leave the phone screen down on a table and locate the six 3.5mm Phillips screws around the edges of the back of the phone. There are four in each corner and two half way up on the sides. Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to unscrew all six 3.5mm Phillips screws. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA www.ifixit.com Page 4 of 9

Step 4 In the next step, be gentle with the plastic back case when prying it away from the phone because it is attached with adhesives on the bottom side of the phone. If you try to force the back case off, you may crack it. Use a plastic opener tool to gently pry off the back case by sliding it in between the back case and the main body of the phone and loosening it around the edges. Be patient, it may take several tries to remove the back case successfully. After pulling off the black back case of the phone, you should now see the logic board and other internal components. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA www.ifixit.com Page 5 of 9

Step 5 With the phone still face down, locate the speaker button on the right-hand side of the phone and the camera button on the left-hand side of the phone. To remove each button, simply slide it away from the phone, out of its groove. Step 6 Leave the phone face down and locate the two 3.5mm Phillips screws near the bottom corners of the phone. They are indicated by red circles in the first picture provided in this step. Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to unscrew these two 3.5mm Phillips screws. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA www.ifixit.com Page 6 of 9

Step 7 You will see three wires attached to the logic board. Locate the two on the right edge, as well as the one on the bottom edge. They will all have flat rectangular tops. Carefully unclip all three of these wires with your fingernail as pictured. Do not try to remove the logic board. If you try to remove it, you will rip out wires that are soldered to the main body of the phone. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA www.ifixit.com Page 7 of 9

Step 8 Now flip the phone over so that the screen is face-up. Use a plastic opener tool to get in between the front screen and main body of the phone and loosen it around the edges. In the next step, you will be removing the front screen. Be gentle while doing so because there are adhesives on it. If you try to force the front screen off, you may crack it. Once you have loosened the edges, gently pry the front screen away from the phone. The front screen should come off easily now. If it gets stuck a little bit, check the wire clips on the back side to make sure that they are loose enough to slip through the slots on the right side of the logic board. ifixit CC BY-NC-SA www.ifixit.com Page 8 of 9

Step 9 LCD Screen Place the front cover face down and locate the LCD screen. It is the large silver rectangle with a light blue square on the left-hand side. In the next step, be gentle while removing the LCD screen. If you jerk the LCD screen off, it may crack, so be careful and slowly peel away the adhesive. To detatch the LCD screen, use a plastic wedge or your fingers and slowly pull the screen away from the front cover. To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
