Put the tool into service as described in the user manual delivered with the tool or available at https://www.desouttertools.com/resourcecentre. Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. When the tool is powered on, the Desoutter logo is displayed and the LEDs are blinking. Wait for a few seconds while the software is being initialized. 1.1 - Main menu Follow the steps in the chart below to display the different menus and get used to the buttons and icons.... 1.2 - How to unlock the tool menu When delivered, passwords are enabled (1 by default). Passwords are used to protect the Pset and Calibration settings against hazardous changes. The red padlock is displayed on the top line. The first action is to disable the Pset password protection. 2.2 - How to change the parameters Check that the Pset password is disabled. The green padlock is displayed on the top line. Go to the "Pset" menu and press. Roll the following parameters by using the left and right buttons. Press to validate. To change the parameter, press. The value will switch to orange. Change the values by using left / right buttons and press to validate. Values are coloured in white. When changes are all made in the selected Pset, save the new values. Pressing the trigger at that stage will cancel all modifications done. Go to the screen "" at the end of the Pset parameters list and press. Then use the left / right buttons to select one of the following: Press to save the changes. Press. The parameters are not changed. If no action is done, the display returns to the Pset screen after 15 seconds and the changes will not be saved. 3 - TOOL PARAMETERS 3.1 - Ergostop This function allows a smoother tool stop to reduce the torque reaction on the operator. When delivered, this function is disabled. 3.2 - Sound The "Ergostop" function must be disabled for tightening tests or certification on tightening benches. Voice messages have been created to alert the operator in case of problems or events that may happen during the tightening operation. The voice messages concern the following topics: tightening out of tolerances calibration procedure preventive maintenance low battery hardware failure maintenance When delivered, the function is disabled. 3.3 - Torque unit The sound function is disabled. The sound function is enabled. This function allows to select the torque unit by default. 3.4 - Power saving This function allows to optimize the battery life. Set up the time: none (by default) from 1 to 99 minutes. When the tool is in standby mode, press the reverse button to wake up the tool. 6159921150_04_03/2018-7 -

4 - PSET PARAMETERS There are 6 pre-defined Psets in the tool. The parameters of the Psets are already configured according to the tool characteristics. 4.2 - Motor control (Nm) rpm Rundown speed 4.1 - List of parameters Parameter Description Downshift torque Start torque Downshift speed Time Enable Thread The Pset is enabled. The Pset is disabled. Selection of the thread direction of the screw. When the trigger is pressed, the tool keeps running at Rundown speed. Once Downshift torque has been reached, the speed changes to Downshift speed. CW CCW When operating in forward, the tool rotates clockwise. When operating in forward, the tool rotates counterclockwise. Safety torque value to stop the tool. The "Start torque" is the torque value that must be reached to declare the Pset as started. Below this value, neither result or report will be generated. 5 - HOW TO PAIR A PSET TO AN ACCESSORY Plug a battery pack to the tool. This icon lights up green on the QR accessory reader. The tool display is as follows: P0 Plug the accessory into the quick-release output. This icon appears on the top left of the tool display. P0 Go to the tool display and select a Pset. Tick "Pset enabled", change the tightening parameters if needed and tick "QR Acc Pairing". Save the Pset. The tool display is as follows: P1 40.00Nm The tool is ready to run the Pset. 6 - HOW TO RUN THE PSET 6.1 - Pset selection Check that the Pset password is disabled. The green padlock is displayed on the top line. In the Pset menu, check that the Pset is enabled. Press the trigger: the tool will run the Pset. Select another Pset by using the buttons. 6.2 - Reverse When delivered, the "Reverse" function is disabled. Go to the "Configuration" menu and press. Then go to "Reverse" and press. Press again to turn "Enable" orange. Use the right button to enable the function and the left button to disable the function. Press to validate. EAB models only Select "Alternate" or "Once" in the "Configuration/Reverse" menu. alternate once The tool will run in reverse until the operator presses the Reverse button again. The tool will run in reverse once only. To run the tool in reverse again, the operator will have to press the "Reverse" button. To free the assembly, press the "Reverse" button. LEDs will alternatively blink red and green. The tool rotates clockwise or counterclockwise depending on the thread direction already set up in the "Pset" menu. 6.3 - Using icons Press this icon: to validate to wake up the tool to reverse The battery is full The battery is low. 7 - TIGHTENING STATUS AND LED REPORTING The amount of tightenings that can be performed with a fully loaded battery depends on the tool model and application (from 100 to 1,000 tightenings with a 36 V 1.3 Ah battery pack). 7.1 - Torque control with angle monitoring Max torque Target torque Min torque Downshift torque Start torque Examples: (Nm) Angle start Min angle Max angle - Both torque & angle within tolerances will lead to a green LED reporting + backlight. - Torque within tolerances + angle below tolerances will lead to red + yellow status (red backlight). When out of tolerances, a voice message is heard: torque error angle error torque & angle error For high torque tools running in severe applications, it may happen that reports are null when the battery is low. 7.2 - Angle control with torque monitoring ( ) (Nm) This icon and the message Low battery are displayed when the battery is low and a voice message can be heard when the sound function is enabled. The tool cannot perform anymore tightening. Load the battery by using the Desoutter battery charger. Abort torque Max torque Min torque Angle threshold The Pset/Maintenance password is locked. The Pset/Maintenance password is disabled. This icon blinks when the tool memory is full. New results will overwrite the oldest results. 8 - RESULTS MONITORING Connect the tool to the PC by using the e-dock device. Launch "CVI MONITOR" to collect and display the last 100 results. Refer to the user manual of "CVI MONITOR" available at http://resource-center.desouttertools. com. 9 - RESULTS COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS CVI ANALYZER is intended to analyse and import/export tightening data with results, curves, filters, profiles. Connect the tool to the PC by using the e-dock device. Launch "CVI ANALYZER". 10 - MAINTENANCE 10.1 - New passwords setting Both Pset and Maintenance passwords are set to 1 by default. To set new passwords, current passwords must be disabled and the green padlock displayed. This function is set in the "Configuration" menu: Enter a figure from 0 to 999 for the Pset password. Enter a figure from 0 to 999 for the Maintenance password. Setting the password at 0 will disable all password protections. Save the new password as follows: 10.2 - Tool calibration Press : the password is saved. Press : the password is not saved. The calibration procedure is recommended to compensate for any possible drift of the tool torque or after each change of tool element. This function is set in the "Maintenance" menu. First enter the Maintenance password in the "Configuration" menu. Insert a torque transducer in line with the tool and connect it to any measuring unit from the Desoutter range. Go to the "Maintenance/Calibration" menu. Select the number of tightenings required to execute the calibration and press. Run a tightening Pset the number of times already configured at max. torque and with an angle above 180 (at low speed). 10.3 - Service alarm When a new battery is plugged in, the following may be displayed when service is required: this icon is displayed a service message is displayed (see below) a voice message is heard. Go to "Maintenance" menu and press Go then to "Service alarm" and press When no service is required, "none" is displayed. There are 3 service levels: Level Number of tightenings Service type 1 25,000 calibration 2 250,000 intermediate** 3 500,000 standard ** this type of service is required for heavy duty applications only. Refer to the chapter "Maintenance" in the manual delivered with the tool. 10.4 - Alarm reset Once the service is performed, reset the indicators: Go to the "Maintenance/Service alarm" menu and press. Press to reset the current indicator. Press : indicators will not be reset. 10.5 - Tool information Refer to the "Maintenance" menu (for reading only). If more than 5 tightenings are required, go on with 5 extra tightenings by pressing the trigger. Total counter T Number of tightenings done since the manufacturing of the tool. At the end, the average torque value is displayed in white. On the line below, enter the average torque value measured by the measuring unit (± 20 % vs the tool nominal torque are allowed). Use the left/right buttons to increase or decrease the value. Press and save your data. Battery P Number of pulses done since the manufacturing ot the tool (BLRT tools only). The current voltage value is displayed. Mininimum and maximum voltage values allowed depend on the battery model. 10.6 - Trouble-shooting Refer to the Appendix "User info codes" enclosed in this manual. When this icon appears and that the voice message "Hardware failure" is heard at powering on, contact your Desoutter representative for support. 10.7 - Upgrade firmware and tool test These functions are described in the user manual of "CVI MONITOR" software available at https://www. desouttertools.com/resource-centre. 6159921150_04_03/2018-13 -

APPENDIX - USER INFO CODES User info codes are messages displayed on the system or tool display. Information For information only. No action is required. Warning The tool is locked. Tap the message to unlock the tool. Error The tool is locked. The issue has to be solved to unlock the tool and clear the error message. Number Description Procedure I004 Span failure 1- Span value from torque sensor is outside bounds. 2- Try once again to start the tool with no mechanical constraints. If the problem occurs again, contact your Desoutter representative for support. I005 Offset failure 1- Offset value from torque sensor is outside bounds. 2- Try once again to start the tool with no mechanical constraints. If the problem occurs again, contact your Desoutter representative for support. I026 Tool maintenance alarm n1 1- The tool tightening counter has been reached. I027 Tool maintenance alarm n2 1- The tool tightening counter has been reached. I038 Tool logs 1- Unexpected tool software exception. 2- Log file has been generated by the tool. 3- Contact your Desoutter representative for support. I046 Abnormal battery current 1- Abnormal battery current consumption. Check the Pset settings. 2- This error can be due to wrong speed settings. I205 Torque settings 1- Invalid Torque setting: torque is greater than tool characteristics. 2- Check Pset settings with the tool characteristics. I206 Speed settings 1- Invalid speed setting: speed is greater than tool characteristics. 2- Check Pset settings with the tool maximum speed. I210 Invalid Pset selected 1- The selected Pset does not match the Pset selectable in the Assembly Process. I211 Invalid trigger configuration 1- The tool connected to the system is not equipped with the trigger required by the trigger configuration. 2- Adjust your trigger configuration to the tool or change the tool according to the trigger configuration. I224 IGBT too hot 1- Power electronics too warm. 2- Let the system cool down. I251 No Pset selected 1- No Pset selected. 2- Select a Pset. I922 Additional transducer span failure 1- Span value from additional torque sensor is outside bounds. 2- Restart the tool with no mechanical constraints. 3- If the problem occurs again, contact your Desoutter representative for support. W010 Tool calibration expired 1- The tool calibration date has expired. 2- A tool calibration needs to be done to ensure the measurement accuracy. W028 Battery tool version error 1 - Battery tool version and system version are not compatible. W030 The battery is low 1- The battery is low. 2- Recharge the battery. W033 Tool time error 1- The tool time is not set correctly. The tightening results will not be time stamped. 2- Connect the tool to the system to set date and time. W036 Tool memory full 1- The tool memory is full. 2- Connect the tool to the system to empty the memory. W039 Tightening unit configuration error 1- Tightening unit settings are invalid. - 14 - Appendix - User info codes _03/2018
