There will come a time when you may need to manually update QuickBooks Point of Sale 2013 manually via downloading the most current release from Intuit s website. This will usually need to be done when you are running QuickBooks Point of Sale 2013 in a multi user environment (multiple workstations). This is due to the fact that you have a Point of Sale server workstation and one or more Point of Sale client workstations. All workstations must be on the same release or one or more of the workstations won t be able use Point of Sale until all of the workstations are on the same release. If the Point of Sale server workstation is updated first, you will receive an error message on the Point of Sale client workstations that informs you than an application update is required and then you must close the application. If a Point of Sale client workstation is updated before the Point of Sale server workstation, you will receive a message stating that the workstation is at a newer release than the Point of Sale server workstation and that the server workstation needs to be updated before it will allow you to access the company file. Please follow the below steps on how to manually install the most current release on all of your Point of Sale workstations. You will want to update your QuickBooks Point of Sale 2013 server workstation first and then update every QuickBooks Point of Sale 2013 client workstation. Note: You will be prompted to reboot the server workstation after applying the latest release. Please do so now. 1. Close QuickBooks Point of Sale 2013 on all of your workstations. You must close the application and not log out of the application for the updates to be installed. 2. 3. Put your mouse cursor over the Downloads menu bar at the top of the page and then click on Downloads & Updates.
4. You will then be presented with a screen to allow you to choose your product. Please click on Point of Sale. If you are not presented with this screen, simply click on the blue link that says Choose a different product.
5. Then choose your version of QuickBooks Point of Sale that you are using. Typically this will be either Pro or Multi Store.

7. Click the blue Update button near the lower left hand corner of the page.
8. Click the drop down arrow button to the right of Save.
9. Click Save as in the drop down menu. 10. In the Save As window that displays, scroll up to the top in the left hand window and then click on Downloads.
11. Click on the button labeled Save. 12. This will now download and save the most current release update in the Downloads folder of the current user logged into Windows. 13. You will be informed that the download has completed. Please click the button labeled Open folder.
14. Right click the downloaded update file, and then click Run as administrator.
15. You may be prompted be prompted by Windows User Account Control for permission to run the program. If you are prompted, either click Yes or provide authentication by entering the password for your local administrator account. 16. Click the button labeled Install. 17. The install will start and then notify you once the update has completed. Click on the button labeled Close. 18. Repeat steps 2 through 17 on all additional client workstations running QuickBooks Point of Sale 2013.
