Moving BCM to different IP range
PREREQUISITES This document describes how to move your BCM application server to a different IP range. The solution is for BCM system administrators who have basic knowledge about BCM and have access to the Infrastructure Administrator (IA) interface. As an example we are going to change the IPs as follows: HAC OLD IP NEW IP IP address of BCM06 10.31.99.60 10.31.99.140 Subnet mask 255.255.254.0 255.255.254.0 Virtual Units OLD IP NEW IP ACME_Administrator 10.31.99.61 10.31.99.141 ACME_Agents 10.31.99.62 10.31.99.142 ACME_AgentFrontEnd 10.31.99.63 10.31.99.143 ACME_AdminFrontEnd 10.31.99.64 10.31.99.144 ACME_PSTN 10.31.99.65 10.31.99.145 ACME_Core 10.31.99.66 10.31.99.146 ACME_Website 10.31.99.67 10.31.99.147 ACME_Reporting_Website 10.31.98.60 10.31.98.140 NOTES - Actions should be tested in a QA or DEV environment before taking to PROD. - Reporting will have to be installed again (by running the wizard) - All virtual units containing a website will have to be removed and installed again (limitation in IIS) - Take backups from databases and model files before doing these changes! 2
CHANGING THE IP OF HAC 1. Inactive all Virtual Units 2. Go to offline mode from Connection -> Go Offline This action turns off the local HAC service; giving the possibility to change the IP of the local HAC. 3. Remove the old IPs from the local HAC (this can be done only in the offline mode) 3
2. Add the new IPs for the local HAC and click Save. NOTE: The port numbers are not automatically added, these must be added! Defaults are: - 21012 (IP Addresses) - 21014 (IP Addresses for Administration) 3. Apply changes to HAC (right click on HAC and Apply Changes to Local System), save the model and then connect to go Online. If the connect succeeds you have succesfully changed the IP of HAC. 4
CHANGING THE IP OF VIRTUAL UNITS THAT DO NOT CONTAIN ANY WEBSITES 1. Once in the Online mode turn all the Virtual Units to incative. 2. After all Virtual Units are inactive go to Deployment mode. 3. Change the IP for the Virtual Unit ACME_AdminFrontEnd 4. Press Save and repeat step 3 for other virtual units; EXCEPT website VU s and integartions VU. 5. Synchronize these VU s (Virtual Unit -> right click -> Synchronize Instances). 5
6. After the synchronize is done you should do Upgrade All Software command to all Virtual Units. This way you ensure that new IPs will be written to database. 7. Once you have done the Upgrade All Software command you can Apply Changes. 6
CHANGING THE IP OF VU THAT CONTAIN WEBSITE E.G. LIKE WEBSITE & INTEGRATIONS VU 1. Double check that all virtual units are in the Inactive mode and IA is in Deployment Mode. 2. Remove the Website VU from the HAC instance and apply changes. 3. Change the IP for the Website VU and Save the changes. 7
4. Remember to check that also Connection Server link is pointing to right IP 4. Add the instance for Website VU back to the HAC node(s). 5. Apply changes. 6. Set the VU s to active state and save the system model. 8
HOW TO CHECK THAT CHANGES ARE APPLIED CORRECTLY 1. Login in System Configurator, navigate to System Management, Modules and press search. You should see all the modules with new IPs. 9
