OFF Be sure to shut down the equipment and unplug the power cable before any option is installed. The procedure for the shutdown is as follows: - Press the [ON/OFF] button until you hear a sound. - Confirm that the ON/OFF lamp is out. - Turn the power OFF with the main power switch. Be sure to install the equipment near an electric outlet so that it is easily accessible. * For Japan, remove the ground wire after the power cable is unplugged. UNPACKING Open the packing carton. Take out the unpacking instructions and the test chart. Take out the accessories. Remove the packing materials. Take out the RADF from the packing carton. Remove the plastic bag. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 3
UNPACKING Peel off the 2 pieces of adhesive tape. Peel off the adhesive tape and remove the packing material. SETUP Take off the original cover (platen). Unscrew the screw. Take off the blind cover. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 6
SETUP Unscrew the screw fixing the damper. Temporarily tighten the removed screw into the hole next to it. Attach the blind cover with the screw. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 7
SETUP Unscrew the 2 screws of the rear top cover. Secure the rear top cover with the co-packed 2 shoulder coin screws. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 8
SETUP Install the RADF in the e-studio while fitting the shoulder coin screws into the slots of the hinges of the RADF. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 9
SETUP Adjust the installation position of the RADF so that the 2 coin screws make contact with the marking on the hinge. Temporarily tighten the coin screws. *Make sure of the following points. Paper feed side: The coin screw contacts the marking at a single point. Paper exit side: The coin screw contacts the concave marking at three points. SETUP Remove the packing material. Close the RADF. Temporarily tighten the shoulder screw along with the washer at the paper exit side on the rear of the RADF. Open the RADF. Remove the 2 rubber caps, then insert the 2 positioning pins into the screw holes. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 11
Remove the platen sheet. SETUP Make sure that the 2 coin screws are temporarily tightened to make contact with the marking on the hinge. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 12
SETUP Gently close the RADF halfway down. Make sure that the 2 positioning pins are smoothly inserted into the slots of the RADF while it is fully closed under its own weight. If the pins cannot be smoothly inserted, adjust the installation position of the RADF. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 13
SETUP After the adjustment, fully tighten the shoulder screw at the paper exit side on the rear. Loosen the 2 screws fixing the hinge at the paper feed side on the rear of the RADF so that the screw hole comes to the center of the bracket slot. Tighten the shoulder screw. SETUP Secure the hinge with the 2 loosened screws. Open the RADF. Fully tighten the 2 coin screws. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 15
SETUP Remove the 2 positioning pins. Tighten the 2 ground screws. Attach the grounding cushions to the RADF. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 16
SETUP Open the RADF. Place the removed platen sheet on the original glass so that it is aligned with the rear and left original scales. Gently close the RADF, and then hold it down from above to let the platen sheet adhere to it. Close the RADF. Secure the hinge stopper with the screw. SETUP Tighten the removed positioning pins into the hinge bracket at the paper feed side. Reuse them when the position of the RADF needs to be readjusted. Open the RADF. Make sure that the platen sheet is fully adhering to it. Remove the connector cover from the rear of the e-stduio. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 18
SETUP Cut out a part of the connector cover. Connect the interface cable from the RADF. Attach the connector cover. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 19
CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT This is the adjustment of the clearance between the protrusion of the RADF and the top surface of the original glass. Turn the power ON with the main power switch while pressing [0] and [3] simultaneously. Key in [267], and then press the [START] button. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 20
CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT Check the clearance while the exposure lamp is lit. Make sure of the following points: - The white protrusion of the front of the RADF makes contact with the top surface of the original glass. - There is 0 to 0.5 mm clearance between the black protrusion of the rear of the RADF and the top surface of the original glass. CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT If a clearance adjustment is needed at the rear, turn the adjustment screw of the hinge at the paper exit side at the rear. Turning the adjustment screw clockwise widens the clearance. On the other hand, turning it counterclockwise narrows the clearance. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 22
CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT If a clearance adjustment is needed at the front, turn the adjustment screw of the hinge at the paper feed side at the rear. OPERATION CHECK Turn the power OFF with the main power switch and then back ON. OFF ON Place the co-packed test chart on the original feed tray of the RADF with the page to be copied facing down. Press the [START] button to make a simplex copy. TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 24
OPERATION CHECK Make sure that there is no problem with the copied image regarding the following 4 points: - The copied image is not skewed. (Skew adjustment) - Appropriate margins are provided on the copied image. (Leading edge position adjustment) - The line drawn in the copy direction is located at the center of the copied image. (Horizontal position adjustment) - The copied image is not enlarged or reduced. (Copy ratio adjustment) TOSHIBA TEC CORPORATION 2011 All Rights Reserved. 25

SKEW ADJUSTMENT Perform the following steps for the skew adjustment: *Prior to this adjustment, make sure that the copied image is not skewed when an original is manually placed on the original glass ** Make sure that the RADF installation adjustment and the height adjustment have been properly performed.
