vrealize Operations Management Pack for vrealize Hyperic Release Notes vrealize Operations Management Pack for Hyperic 6.0.1. Build No. 2470875 Last document update: 23 February 2014. Contents: New Features Compatibility and Interoperability Documentation Resolved Issues Known Issues The vrealize Operations Management Pack for vrealize Hyperic includes an embedded adapter and preconfigured dashboards. The adapter uses the Hyperic REST API to import resources and metrics from Hyperic HQ. You can use the built in dashboards to monitor the Hyperic HQ resources imported by the management pack, or you can build your own. New Features The vrealize Automation solution has been add to the management pack for vrealize Hyperic, including: o The vrealize Automation Overview dashboard that provides an overview of your vrealize Automation environment including metrics, alerts and symptoms. o Problem alerts which are tailored to vrealize Automation heath issues. o Navigation trees that provide easy access to vrealize Automation monitored objects. Hyperic adapters no longer override the virtual machine-to-data store relationship. Compatibility and Interoperability Management Pack for vrealize Hyperic is compatible with vrealize Operations Manager 6.0.and later, and vrealize Hyperic 5.8 and later, however VMware recommends that you use vrealize Hyperic 5.8.4. Management Pack for vrealize Hyperic is compatible with vrealize Automation 6.1 and 6.2. vrealize Hyperic Server Configuration Requirements The vrealize Hyperic server must be configured to connect to a vcenter server to collect UUID and MOID values for Hyperic platforms so that Hyperic platforms can be mapped to the corresponding virtual machines.
Connection Requirements The vrealize Operations Manager server must be able to access the vrealize Hyperic server. You must provide the vrealize Operations Manager URL and the vrealize Hyperic server URL when you add a Management Pack for vrealize Hyperic adapter instance. Credential Requirements You must provide the vrealize Hyperic user name and password and the HTTP Post adapter user name and password when you create a credential for a Management Pack for vrealize Hyperic instance. To use certificate authentication, you must supply the keystore credentials. Documentation You can access the documentation for the Management Pack for vrealize Hyperic in the vrealize Operations Manager documentation center. Resolved Issues With this new version of the management pack, the relationship between vrealize Operations Manager and the data store is no longer deleted after installing an agent on a virtual machine. Known Issues Issues relating to vrealize Automation DEM Orchestrator does not monitor the status of DEM workers when there are multiple instances of DEM running on the same virtual machine. vrealize Hyperic displays the following message: This resource is turned off or has not been configured properly'. All virtual machines in the vrealize Automation environment must be configured with a fully qualified domain name. If vrealize Orchestrator is configured behind a load balancer, the certificates must be signed by the load balancer. If the certificates are not signed by the load balancer, the chain of relationship is broken.
You are unable to deploy the vrealize-automation and vsphere-sso plug-ins. Contact Support. After deleting the vrealize Hyperic 5.8.4 plug-ins, and before you install the new vrealize-automation and vsphere-sso plug-ins, vrealize Automation objects are still displayed in the vrealize Operations Manager Inventory. Contact VMware support. Other Issues vrealize Hyperic agent service must be configured to run as an Exchange administrator in order to get DAG information. vrealize Hyperic agent Windows service runs as a local system account by default. In this mode, the Exchange Database Availability Group information cannot be read by the Exchange plugin and used by the management pack. Configure the Windows service to run as an account with the appropriate Exchange permissions. MS SQL Page Life Expectancy metric is neither shown nor monitored by default in the MS SQL dashboard. The MS SQL dashboard does not show the MS SQL Page Life Expectancy metric by default, due to an issue in the vrealize Hyperic MS SQL plugin. Mark this metric as an indicator in any vrealize Hyperic server that monitors MS SQL environments.
vrealize Hyperic 5.8 does not work with vrealize Operations Manager versions 5.7.1 and 5.7.2. vrealize Hyperic 5.8 requires a patch to vrealize Operations Manager versions 5.7.1 and 5.7.2. The patch is scheduled for release on December 18, 2013. Install the patch to vrealize Operations Manager, when available. When monitoring the Hyperic server in vrealize Operations Manager, the Hyperic server availability fluctuates between -1 and 1. This can only happen when the Hyperic server resource is down, and there is at least one Hyperic service that belongs to the server with an interval that is shorter than the Hyperic server interval. This is not the case when using Hyperic default settings. Change the intervals so that the server interval is the same as or smaller than the service interval, and restart Hyperic. When you are monitoring the availability of a Hyperic server resource in vrealize Operations Manager, it might appear incorrectly if the availability of one or more of its service resources is the opposite of the Server resource availability in Hyperic. For example, if the service availability appears to be down in Hyperic but the server appears to be up in Hyperic, the server availability in vrealize Operations Manager might appear to be down. None. Upgrade from 5.8 to a new version is relatively long, and takes close to 30 minutes. During this time, under the Admin->Support->Info tab in the Describe Info portlet, the word describing appears, and null appears in the Status column for Hyperic Adapter.
When the process is complete, the text changes to describe done.
