INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTION CUSTOMER SETUP INFORMATION Epic Remote System is an asynchronous and centralized software and hardware system for digital sign content creation, editing, programming, management, transmission, playback, monitoring and remote control for the TL Vision LED display. It consists of the following main components: Epic PC this computer is normally supplied by Trans Lux contains the following programs: o o o PlutoManager software for content creation, editing, programming, management, transmission and remote monitoring of digital sign content for and to the Control Card for remote display on the TL Vision sign. This program has flexible network structure, so that it can be easily deployed in the local area network and wide area network, supports the server free, single server, and multi server architectures, and suits different scale projects under different situations. The NovaCloud software is required when a server is available. For details, see related materials about NovaCloud. NovaLCT Pluto display configuration software which mainly controls the TL Vision display s smart setting, performance parameter setting, brightness adjustment and calibration, to achieve the best performance. Network Card required for TCP/IP connections. TCP/IP via LAN all communication uses TCP/IP via LAN and can be set up using a standalone direct wired, network direct wired, standalone wireless, or network wireless. TL Vision full color video display. o Control Card the remote control card (PSD100 or PBOX100) located in the TL Vision display receives and stores the digital files created by PlutoManager via the network connection; and then displays them on the TL Vision. CUSTOMER SETUP INFORMATION MINIMUM COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS If the Epic PC supplied by the customer meets the following requirements: The PC must be capable of running the PlutoManager and NovaLCT Pluto software. Please refer to the Installation & Configuration section of the Nova Pluto Instruction Manual (98 0085 02) for minimum PC requirements. PC with Window XP or Vista Operating System. Network Card installed for TCP/IP connection. Static IP address with subnet mask for standalone direct wired, network direct wired, standalone wireless, or network wireless connections. High speed LAN as needed depending on connection type. Then proceed to Software Installation instructions below. SOFTWARE INSTALLATION If the Epic PC is supplied by the customer, then install NovaLCT Pluto and PlutoManager software to your Epic PC from the software installation CD provided with your equipment. Note: The software allows the Epic PC to link to the Control Card, create messages and schedules at your convenience and then transfer the files to the TL Vision Control Card. Refer to the Installation & Configuration section of the Nova Pluto Instruction Manual (98 0085 02). IF WINDOWS XP TURN OFF WINDOWS FIREWALL If the Epic PC supplied by the customer is running on Microsoft Windows XP operating system, then you may encounter intermittent connections. There are numerous ways networks may be configured. Networked connections must be set up by properly authorized and qualified network administrators. The setups below are for reference only. If your network is using static IP addresses, then make a record of the IP address before proceeding. Refer Epic PC IP on page 2 to record your settings. Epic PC Setup: Network Setup: Control Card: Static IP configured by network administrator. Typically Unique static IP reserved for Control Card. The following steps sets the IP address of the Control Card to a static IP address assigned by the network administrator so that the Control Card can be accessed once it is connected to the network. 1. The EnGenius Base Antenna must be connected to the POE (Power Over Ethernet) via the provided Cat5e shielded outdoor Ethernet cable. The POE must be plugged to a power source with an AC power cord and the power (PWR) indicator light on the antenna must be lit. 2. NETWORK WIRELESS SET IP ADDRESS OF ENGENIUS ANTENNAS This section describes how to use access the configuration software for the EnGenius antennas an HTML management system built into every EnGenius unit. This management system can be accessed through the Cat5e Ethernet cable connection or thru the wireless connection so you can manage both sides of the link from a single location. WARNING! These settings are only for more technically advanced users who have sufficient knowledge about wireless LANs. Do not change the settings unless you know what effect the changes will have on your network. Once your IP address is changed, you must use the new IP address for any further communication with the sign. If the IP address is changed and lost, communication may not be restored unless the parts are sent to Trans Lux. Dialog Box/Window Select Menu Item or Button 13.
