INTRODUCTION The purpose of this document is to guide you through the installation and set up process of the required server and workstation components of the Jonas Activity Management application (JAM). This set up process requires advanced technical expertise and it is highly recommended that only the following type(s) of personnel attempt this installation procedure: Your qualified Jonas Implementation expert. Your qualified IT staff or third party representative(s). What If You Wish To Install Using A Different Approach? BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH ANY SET UP, consult with Jonas Support or your Local Market Partner and outline your environment and potential expectations. How Long Will The Installation Take? Under normal circumstances we estimate the SERVER deployment process will take approximately one hour and the deployment of each WORKSTATION will require approximately ten minutes. Set up times are estimates based on Jonas experience to date and can vary due to unpredictable circumstances attributed to a customer s internet/download speeds, operating system, security, network configuration etc.

Before You Begin Checklist The following factors MUST BE considered prior to proceeding with any set up: AREA DESCRIPTION Documentation First Time Installation? Jonas up to date & installed on all JAM workstations? Installation components ready? Verify operating system requirements on planned JAM workstations. Install all windows critical updates your workstations. Check Jonas data files for integrity prior to performing this update. Please ensure that you have read through our Jonas Activity Management FAQ publication because it has important information relevant to this installation process. If you require a copy, it is available in the Knowledge Base at www.jonassupport.com (article #3424). Ensure that this is a first-time deployment of the JAM application. The deployment will be in a single server environment with one or more workstations directly connected to the server. The login means to access the SQL database will be via SQL Authentication utilizing one sysadmin password. Ensure that a Jonas CD has been installed that has the JAM module(s) turned on. The Jonas client should be installed on all workstations that will be running JAM. Ensure that you have the JAM Starter Pack CDs or an Internet connection for installing the Microsoft components necessary for SQL and JAM. Workstations should fulfill the current minimum requirements found in the Hardware Recommendations (KB article #3793). We currently support XP Pro, Vista Business Version, and Windows7 operating systems on desktops running the JAM application. It is recommended that ALL CRITICAL Windows updates are installed on the workstations that will be running JAM. We recommend that the Jonas File Reconstruct Tool is run two days before you plan to perform this installation. If you have corrupt files then there is the potential for the JAM Integration process to fail. If you need assistance contact Jonas Support. Login with full administrator login rights. Verify available disk space on server and workstations. Workstation screen resolution / Touchscreen? To perform this installation procedure you will require full administrative login rights on both the server and JAM workstations. We advocate at least 10 gigabytes of free disc space on the server and 3 gigabytes on workstations. JAM display works best using 1024 x 768 resolution; 32-bit (recommended). Other resolution settings will work however the screen display will vary depending upon the setting used. Touch screens are NOT supported.

SERVER DEPLOYMENT PROCESS * Depending upon your environment, you may be prompted to install additional Windows components not listed in this install process.
