CDP Laser Print Solution PRINTING TIPS for Lexmark Laser Printers using Fiserv data ISSUE POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION Forms printing to the wrong tray Default paper source could be set to the wrong tray At the printer: (if your printer has a menu button press that. If not use right arrow to scroll ) scroll to paper menu & select, scroll to default source & select, make sure the asterisk is next to the tray where your plain paper is located) If it is not, scroll up or down to the correct tray and select. If this does not correct your issue, call CDP 800.869.0493 Checks print without signature or logo Unformatted 1. Incorrect CFP 2. Incorrect printer settings Confirm the correct CFP for checks is set up in Galaxy terminal defaults. Print a menu settings page and call CDP for assistance to print menu settings: press menu, scroll to reports & select, scroll to menu settings & select. Notices print 1 to a page instead of 3 (unformatted) Missing or jumbled data 1. Moving data (data has shifted and needs to be remapped) Confirm the I and the P commands are being used in the Galaxy system. Do NOT batch notices together, send one report at a time. If this is a new printer or new form, call CDP to complete the necessary programming. Data may have moved, call CDP for assistance
Nothing prints, printer stays at ready 1. If printing through either parallel or serial interface, print server may need to be reset 2. Port may need to be bounced (Galaxy) 3. File may be empty Remove the print server from the printer, detatch the power cord and the data cable, let the print server sit with nothing attached to it for 2 minutes replug everything and try to print again. Call Galaxy and ask that the CFP be bounced If printing notices, view the file on your monitor to confirm there is actual data in the file. Have LPT queue cleared if documents are hanging there. In Batch Printing Control, when selecting the I command, then the forms type make sure the correct form is being selected (wrong form selection accounts for no printing) If this does not correct your issue, call CDP 800.869.0493
Batch checks some good checks print correctly, followed by unformatted checks loan disbursement checks only some print correctly rest of them default. Port timeout setting on printer may need to be changed At the printer: (this applies only to the T65x, E46x printers) 1) Press menu 2) Scroll down to option card menu & select 3) Scroll to forms card menu & select 4) Scroll to local port timeout & select 5) Scroll to timeout & select 6) Confirm the setting is at least at 20 s. If not, use number pad to enter 20 & select. If it is at 20 try 30. If the batch of checks still do not print correctly, call CDP 800.869.0493. You can revert back to 10 seconds or less to print your other documents, but you must revert to the higher setting before printing the batch checks again. Printer beeps and asks for a different type of paper or display panel or reads load tray X Printer defaults may be incorrect Paper type or size may be incorrect Drawer may not be set up correctly Make sure tray is not empty. Check paper guides to make sure they are on the correct setting (ex: on the 8.5 x 11 lines for letter paper). Print a menu settings page (press menu if available, scroll to reports & select, select again at menu settings). In the first column on the print out it will list your paper trays, the type of paper in each and the paper sizes. Make sure this is correct if it is correct call CDP for assistance. If it is not correct, at the printer: press menu 1) Scroll to paper menu & select 2) Scroll to default source & select, 3) Select again, you should be inside the paper type menu and/or size menu, 4) Scroll to paper type or paper size, select and scroll through until you see the correct selection select it repeat this for both size and type of paper if necessary. Note, typical paper types are: plain, preprint for checks, custom 1 or 2 for notices. If this does not correct your issue, call CDP 800.869.0493
Insert xxx size paper or load tray X Printer sees wrong size paper in the tray you are trying to print to 1) Open the tray 2) Re-adjust the guides, even if they seem to be on the correct setting (usually letter) 3) Move the guides to an incorrect position, away from the paper, then move them back into position, 4) Replace the tray, 5) Power cycle the printer and try to print again. Paper feeding incorrectly High humidity, moisture Try a new, unopened ream of paper Toner not sticking 1. High humidity, Try a new, unopened ream of paper 2. Worn fuser Call Lexmark for hardware support 800.539.6275 Paper feeding two or more sheets at a time Static (dry heat) Usually in the winter. Pull out the paper, fan both ends, put back in printer. Try paper from a new ream. Try wiping feed roller with lightly water dampened rag. If it is still double feeding, this could be a hardware issue such as worn feed rollers. Call Lexmark for hardware support at 800.593.6275 Print quality is poor, spotty toner Bad toner, old toner, almost empty toner cartridge We recommend you use Lexmark genuine high yield toner cartridge. Lexmark will not support print quality issues unless their toner is used. To purchase one call CDP at 800.869.0493. If cartridge is more than a year old, try a new one. Is cartridge almost empty? Sometimes they leak near the end of their life. Other possible causes: fuser assembly is worn, transfer roller is dirty or worn those 2 issues can be diagnosed by Lexmark call 800.539.6275 for Lexmark hardware support. Gray hazy Toner may be accumulating on the Clean dirty roller with a dry lint free cloth. Once all visible toner is removed (do not attempt to clean the green roller).
printing rollers The photoconductor may be getting worn Wipe with a very light damp cloth and let roller dry. Print several pages through and see if issue is resolved. If issue persists, photoconductor may be going. Call Lexmark at 800.539.6275 for troubleshooting & hardware support. Photoconductor error message May need a new photoconductor Call and order a photoconductor unit. (from CDP or Lexmark). Replace photoconductor when it arrives call CDP if you need assistance. After replacing you MUST reset the photoconductor counter. If you do not, the printer will stop printing. General instructions for resetting the count are below (for instructions specific to your printer please see the Lexmark website or call CDP for assistance) Resetting the count: 1) Press & hold the select button & the right arrow 2) Keep holding while you turn the printer off then on 3) When printer comes back on display panel should read: CONFIG MENU. 4) Press down arrow until the checkmark or asterisk is at reset pc cnt. & select. Scroll to exit config & select. 5) Press back button until printer display panel reads ready. Accordion paper jam Fuser may need replacing Fuser may be in the process of dying have it replaced before all printing stops. Call Lexmark for support (or to order parts) 800.539.6275
Paper Jams 1. Fan, flex & straighten the paper 2. Paper jam 3. Worn sensor Fan, flex & straighten paper, turn the stack over before reloading. Locate the paper jam, clear it. Note: sometimes a very small piece of paper will remain behind when clearing a jam when this happens the printer will continue to read paper jam. If everything has been cleared and the printer still says paper jam try turning the printer off and on. Error number locations: 1. 200-203 - printer 2. 230-239 - duplex 3. 241-245 - trays 4. 250 multipurpose feeder 5. 260 envelope feeder 6. 271-279 output bins 200/201 open lower & upper front cover, remove toner cartridge (unlock if you have a locking tray) remove tray 1 202/203 open lower & upper front cover, open upper rear cover 230 open lower rear cover, press the green tab or remove paper tray 1 & press green tab 231-239 check the duplex option 241-245 remove paper tray indicated in the display panel message (ex 241= tray 1, 242 = tray 2, 243 = tray 3 etc.) 250 check multipurpose feeder & gently pull paper out. If jam is not visible, remove toner & check behind it
260 check envelope feeder option 271-279 check output bin If this continues, load paper from a fresh package, do not overload tray, and check the paper guides.
Non-Stop Garbage printing Used wrong CFP for loans plus Press stop. Printer panel will come back with options use your down arrow button and scroll to reset printer.
