Ann Gish Back End Guide 2/17/11 Site: http://dev.ispirto.us/ann/admin/ Once you log in, you'll see the Dashboard. It immediately shows the number of orders, customer accounts, and product views. To the left is the Quick Menu with buttons to List New Customers List New Orders List New Contact Requests Above the chart, are buttons to view the databases for Products Orders Customers Store Locator Content tabs (for About, Contact, etc) Admins Clicking Products will show the product database. Here you can browse products on the left by category collection color families color fabrics and sizes You can search for specific products by name, as well. On the far right, one can edit a product by clicking the Edit button (It looks like a paper and pencil) or delete it with the "X" button. For making larger changes one can import and export list into an Excel document. Orders, Customers, and Store Locator offer the same options for their respective items. You can also click "View Frontend" at the top right of the screen to visit the page where the site will appear. It has not been formatted or designed at this time so it may appear odd.
Searching and sorting products On the Products page, the Search feature will search for all types of products, which you can adjust by using the dropdown menus. If you leave the dropdowns alone (default is All ) and search for knitted silk, you should get results for any items that contain knitted silk in its description or title. From that point, you may filter the results by choosing an item from the drop-down. For example, you can choose throw from the Category dropdown, and click Search to display knitted silk throws. = 50 results = 13 results Using the dropdowns is a great way to narrow down your search to find a group of products. Please note that changing the # of products displayed at the top will currently reset searches, so adjust that number before searching. (this should be fixed) Editing products - When editing a group of products, use your browser s Back button to return to the search results. This can make it more efficient to edit a group of products, as the changes in the back end must be done individually. Deleting products - You can click the checkboxes next to the products in search results and then click Delete at the bottom of the screen to delete multiple products at once.
Orders and Customers On the left side of the Dashboard, you can quickly view recent customers and orders. Under Orders, it will show the first 20 orders listed. Clicking the Edit button next to an order allows you to view and edit the following information for the order: Customer email address Order Number Cost, plus tax and shipping amounts Invoice address Customer shipping address Products ordered and their ID, dimensions, and weight Payment details, including name on credit card, card type, expiration date and last four digits Date and time of order Order status, which can be marked as Preparing or Shipped FedEx tracking number Under Customers, it will display any users who have registered and/or made orders. The Addresses button on the right side allows you to view and edit shipping and billing addresses, if they have been submitted in the ordering process. The shopping cart button to the side will display Orders that user has made. And with both the Customers and Orders panels, once can choose Export on the left sidebar to download a complete list. Store Locator lists all stores entered in the database. Can be sorted by clicking any of the buttons above entries: The Add New Store button on the left side will link to a page of fields to enter information such as Store Name, Phone #, and Address to create a new entry. You can also click Export Stores on the left sidebar to download a full list that can be opened in Excel or OpenOffice to view all information at once.
Uploading Images To upload images in groups, one must 1. Export & Enter the file names into a CSV 2. Import & Update the CSV 3. Upload images to folder in FTP server In order to view the CSV properly in Excel, you save the file from the back end via the Export Products/Collections/Fabric button. Then, open Excel, and Open the CSV file from there. It must be done in this way in Excel or it may not display the data correctly. A free alternative is OpenOffice Calc via http://www.openoffice.org/ For the Products CSV, image file name should be entered in Column U as shown. If the spreadsheet is not appearing in a grid as shown below, please see Troubleshooting section Only.jpg/.jpeg,.gif, and.png files are accepted, and make sure to include the file extension as in blue_pillow.jpg When you are done editing, make sure to save the file again, and in the.csv format. Importing the File into the Back End Choose Import Products/Collections/Fabric depending on which spreadsheet you have edited. Then see below. Click Upload and find the.csv file you just saved. Leave the other drop-downs alone and click Next at the bottom right.
When you import the edited spreadsheet, be sure to choose Update for the import option. Leave the other drop-downs alone. Scroll to the bottom, and click Uploading Images via FTP Now that the rows in the spreadsheet correspond to the correct image file names, you must actually put the images in the back end. First please download this free program: http://filezilla-project.org/ Choose Download FileZilla Client and Install. Below is the information you must enter in order to access the site s FTP server: o Host: dev.ispirto.us o Username: ann@dev.ispirto.us o Password: gish Click Quickconnect. When done correctly, it should appear like this in the program: Once you re connected, you will see some boxes. See below for reference.
On the left side, the one that shows your computer, find the folder the images you have entered are in. They should appear in the bottom section, where it says "Drag & Drop!" Then, find the folder on the right side called "dbimages." These are all the images in the site backend database. You will see a lot of JPEGs here. You can select as many as you like on the left side and drag & drop them into the right side. Then you will see some green status bars at the bottom showing the upload progress. As long as the filename is properly entered into the CSV, and imported correctly, the system will associate it with the uploaded image in the FTP folder. Notes 1. When you visit the product/collection/fabric in the back end, it will not immediately display the image as a thumbnail. 2. After some images have been uploaded this way, Oktay will run a script to create thumbnails out of these images. So do not be alarmed if you do not initially see the image.
Troubleshooting Can t get CSV to display properly in Excel First, make sure to save the CSV you download from the site back end. Open a blank spreadsheet in Excel Find this button/function (below) o On the Mac version it may be an Import function, or labeled differently. First try File > Open and see if the file displays properly. Choose the CSV and click Open Excel will create a dialog prompt if you want to open a CSV. See below.
Click Next Make sure Tab is checked as the delimiter, and click Finish. Then Excel will ask where to put the data Choose Existing if the document is currently blank and no data would be disrupted by the CSV import. Choose New Worksheet if there is already data on the page that WOULD be disrupted. This should alleviate the problem of not displaying the CSV correctly
