Get Started Your StarID Your StarID is your login for online services at Minnesota State Mankato such as E-services, MavMAIL, wireless Internet, D2L Brightspace, and more. Make sure you remember it and keep your password safe! Need to change your StarID password or need help? Visit mnsu.edu/starid Wireless Internet You can login to the secure campus-wide MavNET-Encrypted wireless network using your StarID and password. For additional setup instructions, visit mnsu.edu/its/mavnet Internet in the Residence Halls High-speed wireless Internet is provided in every room, as well as in the lounges, kitchens and dining areas. Your Campus Email Login to MavMAIL using your StarID to access your campus email. Check often, as you will receive important information on classes, financial aid, direct deposits, and other University notifications here. Log in to MavMAIL at link.mnsu.edu/forward-your-email Have an existing email account you d prefer to use? You can forward emails from MavMAIL to your other email address using the instructions here: mnsu.edu/campushub/campusinfo/email Printing You can print from almost any device to over 50 printers throughout the campus and residence halls. Once you queue up a document to be printed, log into any MavPRINT release station to start printing. Color printers are also available in Memorial Library (ML), the IT Solutions Center in Wissink Hall (WH 121) and at our location in Edina. Each student is allocated $20.00 of complementary printing each semester (or about 400 black and white pages). Visit the IT Solutions Center if you would like recommendations for reputable, effective anti-virus solutions. Let Us Help You Protect Yourself! Use a long, complex, and unique password Always use a long and complex password. Passphrases short sentences or combinations of unrelated words with a mix of upper- and lower-case letters, numbers, and symbols make good passwords that are easier to remember than random strings of characters. Remember: Don t use re-use the same password on every website! For more tips on how to generate a strong password, go to If it looks suspicious, don t click on it! mnsu.edu/its/security/passwords Watch for emails pretending to come from your bank, email provider, or any other company. Don t provide your password, bank number, or any other personal/ financial information over email always go directly to the company website via a separate browser window and login there to make sure the request is legitimate. If in doubt, call the company using the contact information from their website (not the email) to confirm whether the email is a scam. spam@mnsu.edu Keep your computer, tablet, and phone updated! Companies send out software and operating system updates regularly to fix security vulnerabilities. Make sure these updates are installed as soon as possible! Personal Software, Services, and Hardware Office 365 Services for YOU! Microsoft Office 365 is a suite of online tools that allow you to access a variety of software programs anywhere you have an internet connection and on almost any type of device. Included in this is 1TB of OneDrive space for students to store all of their documents, files, videos and pictures. There are no installations or updates involved this is part of your MavMail, just log in to mavmail.mnsu.edu with your StarID and click the waffle icon in the upper right-hand corner to view your available apps! It s fast, easy, and available on a variety of platforms. If you are using Windows 7, Windows 8, or a Mac, you can install Windows 10 (a full license, not just an upgrade) on your system for free as well. Access and Training Computer Labs Academic Computer Center (ACC) The ACC offers workstations for you to use located in 121 Wissink Hall. Some are restricted for specific search functions, but others are available for school projects and general research. Get Alerts Star Alert Star Alert is our Emergency Notification System. It allows campus community members to receive text and email notifications in the event of campus-related emergencies. A Star Alert message will briefly state the location and nature of the emergency, and may include a specific action to take. Star Alert will also be used to notify you if campus is closed or if classes are delayed or cancelled. You will be prompted to sign up for this opt-in service after you sign into E-services.
