IP Office - Job Aid econsole & eblf Notes Summary This document contains notes on econsole and eblf operation not suitable for the user guides of those applications. This includes command line options that can be used to alter operation of these applications. 009 Issue 3 (16th April 2003)
econsole & eblf Notes Overview Overview This document contains details of econsole and eblf operation that were not suitable for the general econsole and eblf user guides. econsole User Setting By default, when the econsole user does an unscreened (blind) transfer, the call rings the transfer number until answered or the caller hangs up. The call does not return to the econsole. To enable call return if unanswered, an econsole entry should be added to the econsole user's SourceNumbers tab in the Manager configuration. When this is added, unanswered transfers return to the econsole and display (NoAns) in the Call Information window. Note: If the econsole is run using the vmail command line option, unanswered calls will go to voicemail, if enabled, rather than returning to the econsole. See "" on page 4. econsole & eblf Notes Page 2
Creating a eblf Button for an Outside Line Creating a eblf Button for an Outside Line In this example #9 is configured on the IP Office to allow connection to an outside line. This can be setup as shown below to be triggered by an eblf button. This is useful for transferring callers to Outside Lines in the case of a company receptionist or hotel receptionist. The IP Office must also be configured with a corresponding shortcode for #9. The system shortcode configuration should be as follows: Short Code: #9 Telephone Number: s Line Group ID: 0 Feature: Dial Hints & Tips 1. Though treated as two separate programs the eblf and econsole are installed together and must be kept that way. Some features of the eblf rely on the presence of the econsole program executable. 2. The eblf displays the username of the connected extension within a pair of square bracket '[ ]' in the title bar when it has successfully connected to the switch. If the title bar displays 'Busy Lamp Field' only, the application has failed to connect to the switch. 3. The bottom status line displays the network connection status of the application. If the line says 'Resending TFTP Request' or 'Network Out of Order' then the application is unable to communicate with the switch. Check the network connection immediately! 4. The eblf polls the IP Office every 2 second for the state of each extension. Depending on the number of users in the switch the update time can become long. It polls the state of hunt groups every 6 seconds. 5. The status of remote users is not displayed. 6. Remote queues are not displayed in the eblf for networked IP400 switches. econsole & eblf Notes Page 3
The following command line option can be used with econsole and eblf: oncall This will show the CLID (if available) of the calling/called party a user is talking to when that user is busy. Use and support of this feature may be subject to local restrictions in some countries. The following command line options can be used with the econsole only: nopop Stops the application automatically popping up when a call is received vmail Passes transferred calls to voicemail when the transfer target is busy or does not answer within their allocated answer time. If the transfer target is busy and has call waiting, the call will wait for the allocated answer time before going to voicemail. qring Plays a sound file when there is a call queuing in any of the four queues that the econsole is monitoring. The file used is newcall.wav found in the econsole folder. The following command line option can be used with eblf only: display= This option can be used to set the maximum number of rows of buttons that the eblf can display, up to a maximum of 65. It is set as display=xx where xx is the number of rows required. By default the eblf displays 12 rows or 96 buttons maximum. When used to add more than 12 rows, the eblf displays a scroll bar. Applying The following method applies to programs started via the Windows Start menu. For programs started from a desktop icon, the Target path can be edited by right-clicking on the desktop icon and selecting Properties. 1. Right-click on the Windows taskbar and select Properties. The example below shows the Target path for econsole set to nopop and qring. "C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\eConsole\WindowsOperatorConsole.exe" nopop qring 6. Click OK. 7. Close the Explorer window. 8. Click on OK in the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window. econsole & eblf Notes Page 4
