6.1 Call to order Ken Langevin, Recreation Vehicle (RV) Service Technician PTAC Chair, called this meeting to order at 9:05 am. 6.2 Approval of Agenda MOTION: Motion to approve the Recreation Vehicle Service Technician agenda dated April 3, 2007 as written. M: Cal Spratt S: George Doell 6.3 Approval of Recreation Vehicle Service Technician Minutes dated June 21, 2006 The Recreation Vehicle Service Technician minutes dated June 21, 2006 were approved via teleconference meeting that was held on December 19, 2006. 6.4 Correspondence One correspondence item was circulated. This item was the information sheet regarding Grants, Incentives, and Awards. Nancy Eller facilitated the review of this informational document. This document is available on the Manitoba government website: www.gov.mb.ca/tradecareers Question: The PTAC raised questions regarding the Tradesperson s Tools Deduction incentive. Response: Guy Champagne, ATC, provided the PTAC with an informational hand-out regarding this incentive. This information is available on the Government of Canada website http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/whatsnew/tools-e.html 6.5 Contact Information Update The RV Service Technician PTAC Contact List was circulated to provide the PTAC members the opportunity to update their contact information. 6.6 Business Arising 6.6.1 Apprenticeship Training Coordinator (ATC) Update Champagne Guy Champagne addressed this agenda item. 6.6.1 (continued) - PTAC Membership 6.6.2 Program Development Coordinator Update Nancy Eller 6.6.3 New Interprovincial (IP) Exam Nancy Eller 6.6.4 New 2006 National Occupational Analysis (NOA) Nancy Eller journeyperson certification in the trade of RV Service Technician through the Trades Qualification (TQ) process. A brief discussion followed regarding examination questions. The ATC noted the PTAC s feedback regarding the exam questions. The RV Service Technician PTAC has a full complement of members. There were no further questions or comments. This completed the ATC s update. Nancy briefly discussed the Certification Examination Preparation (CEP) Workshops. CEP workshops are three hours in length. The purpose of the CEP workshop is to assist the exam candidate to prepare to write their exam. Participation in a CEP workshop is available upon the request of TQ exam candidates. The CEP workshops are administered by Apprenticeship Branch staff. There is no charge to the exam candidates. This concluded this agenda item. Nancy addressed this agenda item. She reported that there are two exams available for the RV Service Technician trade. The exam content is derived from the RV Service Technician (2006) National Occupational Analysis (NOA). The fee for writing the TQ Exam is $250.00. If a re-write is necessary, an additional fee of $75.00 is charged to the exam candidate. Nancy addressed this agenda item. She provided copies of the 2006 Recreation Vehicle Service Technician NOA to the PTAC. She explained the content of this document has been streamlined in comparison to the 2000 NOA in that the content of this document is not repetitive. (e.g. terminology) Information Item. 6.6.4 (continued) The NOA workshop, which was held in Ottawa in 2006, was attended by 13 individuals from across Canada, who worked together to develop the 2006 NOA. Albert Yzer and Heather Jones represented Manitoba at this workshop as industry experts. Nancy reviewed the outcomes of the Block and Task Validation/Weighting process, which was carried out by many jurisdictions across Canada. She commended Manitoba s RV Service Technician PTAC for their efforts and noted that many of their recommendations were accepted nationally. Nancy explained the process of developing the NOA. Tasks and sub-tasks in each learning objective are reviewed by the industry experts to ensure that they are accurate and current. Exam questions are derived from the content of the NOA. Nancy explained the levels of taxonomy of questions that is utilized on examinations. The following sections of the NOA were discussed: Scope of the trade. Pie Chart; Definitions; Glossary of Terms; Tools and Equipment There were no further questions/comments brought forward at this time.
