Points to Note: It is recommended to use a separate power supply, located near the Two Door Controller. DO NOT common the 0v DC, or +12v DC, of power supplies and Genesis devices. When using the Two Door Controller to control an electric strike or magnetic lock, it is recommended to use separate power supplies for both the Two Door Controller power and for the locking device power. Removal of the Serial Number from any Genesis device will immediately void any warranty applicable to it, or any interconnected Genesis device. Caution: When connecting an electric strike, relay or other inductive load to the Two Door Controller, it is important to insert a protection diode in parallel with the load. This is to prevent any back EMF generated by the inductive load, from effecting or damaging any equipment connected to the power sup- Features and Benefits The Genesis Two Door Controller (TDC) unit is not just a simple two door interface. The Genesis TDC provides two Wiegand inputs for proximity readers, two door inputs for door status monitoring and two request to exit inputs for door release. The GEN- 046, 2-Input PCB is available as an option that can provide 2 additional general purpose fully programmable inputs. The additional board plugs directly on top of the TDC Controller module. The TDC also provides two high current change-over contact relays for electric lock release, and four open collector outputs for LED or buzzer indication at the reader. The Genesis TDC gives you flexibility you can build upon. Flexible input allocation allows you to easily convert unused egress button inputs into standard zone inputs, trough the Genesis Technician Software. TDC Door Strike Two-wire RS-485 LAN communication allows the TDC to be mounted up- to 1500 metres from the master panel. An integrated, 100 user card CACHE provides the last 100 valid card users to still have access in case of LAN communication failure with the master unit. Terminal block mounting: Genesis LAN (cont.): The Master Unit must always be the first device on the LAN. This device is factory fitted with a 180Ω LAN Termination Resistor. Door input terminals Header pins for 2 additional inputs Relay output terminals Door 1 Door 2 0v Common 12v 0v Common 12v 12v DC Power input terminals Open collectors 4 x fully programmable open collector outputs are provided capable of sinking up-to 100mA each Terminals are 12v DC-1-2-3-4 Tamper input terminals A-B, LAN Relay output selection pins: Either 12v DC or to 0v supply can be selected to common terminals of the relays, using plug-on links. These 2 sets of 3 pins provide power to relays when relays are switched as per diagram to the left Connect to Communications Earth Master Unit GEN001 Remote Access Station GEN030 Expander Unit GEN010 Two Door Controller GEN045 SHD B A SHD B A SHD B A SHD B A The shield from the LAN cable should run the length of the LAN, and should be connected to a communications earth, at the Master Unit only. The shield terminals on each device are for connection of shield cables, and do not connect to the device proper in any way Up to 127 additional Genesis devices in total can be connected to the Genesis LAN, across a total LAN length of up to 1500 meters. The last device on the Genesis LAN must be fitted with its termination link. This link fits a 180Ω resistor to the last device on the LAN. No other devices should have a termination link fitted. If connected as described above, the LAN should have an impedance of approximately 90Ω, plus the resistance of the LAN cable. *Don t test LAN impedance with any devices powered up. Ensure the cable shield is not connected to any ground or to any voltage on any device and that the cable shield is only connected to a communications earth at the Master. Correct LAN configuration Correct LAN Configuration Page 6 Version 4 Nov 2005 Page 15 Version 4 Nov

Genesis LAN: Genesis uses industry standard RS-485 LAN communication to ensure fast efficient network communication between devices. The Genesis LAN operates at a communication speed of 19,200 baud between up to 128 devices over a total LAN distance of up to 1500 meters. In order to ensure that a high level of performance is achieved, it is necessary to connect the Genesis LAN in the recommended method. To this end, it must be twisted pair data cable that is used for the Genesis LAN. Belden 8723 (RS-485) cable, or equivalent is recommended. A standard must be applied when wiring from one LAN leg to another. For example, the A leg on a Master Unit must always be connected to the A legs on other Genesis devices, while the B leg must always be connected to the B legs on other Genesis devices. Two Door Controller layout: Door 1 Prox 1 Door 1 Reader Input: This terminal allows for connection of a Wiegand or genesis format reader, in the following layout: 0v Black Data 1 White Data 0 Green +12v DC Red Door 1 - Door Monitoring Input: This terminal allows for connection of a reed switch or other door monitoring device, to provide Door Open Too Long, or Door Forced alarm functionality. A very common communication problem is where the A and B lines are reversed. If this occurs, then some devices may appear on-line, while others are off-line. The Genesis LAN is an industry standard multi-drop RS-485 configuration. Do Not Tee Off, or Star configure your LAN. For STAR configuration please refer to information on GEN-129 4-way LAN distribution module. While the LAN may function in these configurations, Genesis cannot guarantee proper LAN performance. X X Exit 1 Egress Button Input: This terminal allows for connection of an egress button to release the Door 1 Relay. Door 1 Door 1 Relay Contact: This terminal provides a N/O and N/C relay contact, to allow switching control of a door release, or door locking mechanism. C Relay Common NO Normally Open Contact NC Normally Closed Contact As default the relay is dry contact only, however it is possible to source and sink 12V DC at up to 100mA, by fitting a jumper to link H19. This provides 12V DC to the common terminal of the relay. Improper Star Configuration Improper Tee Off Configuration Page 14 Version 4 Nov 2005 Page 7 Version 4 Nov 2005

Two Door Controller layout: Door 2 TDC Mounting: Prox 2 Door 2 Reader Input: This terminal allows for connection of a wiegand or genesis format reader, in the following layout: 0v Black Data 1 White Data 0 Green +12v DC Red Door 2 - Door Monitoring Input: This terminal allows for connection of a reed switch or other door monitoring device, to provide Door Open To Long, or Door Forced alarm functionality. The Two Door Controller is designed to mount within the HDW-001, metal equipment cabinet. Using this cabinet, it is possible to mount up to 5 Two Door Controllers within the one cabinet, or any other combination of Genesis equipment may also be mounted with the Two Door Controller. The four screws supplied with the Two Door Controller are for securing the controller to the stand-offs on the HDW-001. Avoid installing the Two Door Controller outdoors. Exit 2 Egress Button Input: This terminal allows for connection of an egress button to release the Door 1 Relay. Door 2 Door 2 Relay Contact: This terminal provides a N/O and N/C relay contact, to allow switching control of a door release, or door locking mechanism. C Relay Common NO Normally Open Contact NC Normally Closed Contact As default the relay is dry contact only, however it is possible to source and sink 12V DC at up to 100mA, by fitting a jumper to link H20. This provides 12v DC to the common terminal of the relay. Page 8 Version 4 Nov 2005 Page 13 Version 4 Nov

As displayed the terminals are: +12v DC 1 2 3 4 TAMPER INPUT: Provided to allow normally closed connection of a cabinet tamper to this device. LAN TERMINALS: The A and B LAN terminals are designed for the Genesis LAN to be terminated into. The A and B lines must always be connected to the A and B terminals on other Genesis devices. The shield (SHLD) terminal has been supplied to secure the cable shield only. Please refer to page 12 for further information on the Genesis H3 LAN TERMINATION LINK: The LAN Termination Link should only be fitted on the last device on the Genesis LAN. Please refer to page 12 for further information on the Genesis LAN. Relay output selection pins: Either 12v DC or to 0v supply can be selected to common terminals of the relays, using plugon links.
