Mark was a key figure in Buck Ridge as both a member and a past president of the club. He helped design gate configurations at the Brandywine slalom race courses and went on to compete in international canoe competitions with his wife Gay, a fellow buck ridge member, and Dick Shipley, also a Buck Ridge member. Mark, Gay, and Dick were members of the US National Whitewater Team and competed in three world championships. Mark and Gay earned a bronze medal in the Shown left to right:?, Dick Schuhart, Bob Depaol, Mark Fawcett, Winnie Rumble, Fletcher MacNeil,? 1960 World Championships. In addition to canoeing, Mark volunteered as a US swimming official for twenty years, officiating at national competitions. Mark was an active skier, joining other Buck Ridge members skiing at Elk Mountain, Vermont, and out west. Mark was generous with his time and expertise in so many activities whether it be manufacturing kayaks, helping Buck Ridge juniors refurbish a sailboat, or designing slalom courses. Both Gay and Mark remained active in Buck Ridge until they moved to Bremerton, Washington in 1999. He is survived by his wife Gay of 46 years and his daughters Kim and Susan. - Nancy W Beard

It replaces the traditional lift ticket and can be reloaded for future visits to Stowe. Lift tickets are $45 per day. Look for more announcements, as well as the EPSC discount voucher purchase program, here or on the EPSC web site. Fall in the air means its time to schedule our work party at the Woodbridge Lodge to get it in shape for the coming ski season. We have tentatively scheduled the first weekend in November (the 7th and 8th) for the work party. The usual maintenance chores will need to be done (cleaning, laundering bedding, checking lights, grounds maintenance, etc). In addition we will be working to re-fit some doors and caulk some cracks that may be letting in cold air. If you are interested in attending please contact lodge chair Mike Fernandez (see masthead on page 2 for phone and email contact info). Also remember if you are a regular lodge user to check off the lodge privilege add-on to your membership renewal. You will pay for it with your first week-end stay, and help support the lodge as well. As we did last year, we will also be extending the lodge privilege to EPSC member clubs that maintain reciprocity with other EPSC clubs. If you have a friend in another club who you think would enjoy the rustic accommodations at the Lodge, encourage them to get in contact with us! Think snow!!
