Monsters Template Installation Instructions Thank using our Monsters Theme for Cherwell Service Management. Please follow the instructions below to install your new theme: *As with any business software solution, it is recommended that organizations perform a system backup and appropriately test new mapps in a development/test environment before using them in a production environment. See the Cherwell mapp Exchange Terms of Use for more details. Installing Your New Template 1. Save the MonstersTheme02162017.mApp file somewhere you can easily access it. 2. Create a backup of your database. Cherwell offers a way to do this from the Administrator side or you are welcome to back up your database however you prefer. 3. Once your backup is complete, Open the Cherwell Administrator and choose "mapps" on the right hand side. 4. Click "Apply a mapp". 5. Navigate to and open your saved.mapp file. 6. Follow the instructions in the mapp Wizard. 7. After the mapp has successfully installed and merge processes have run and a Blueprint is generated, please open Cherwell Service Management (The Blue Client). 8. Click on Help and select Reload Definitions. 9. Once definitions are reloaded, click on Dashboards and select Dashboard Manager. 10. Navigate to and select your new theme: Dashboards Global Templates Monsters 11. Click OK in the Dashboard Manager screen and your new template will be displayed.
Customizing Your Template Because every Cherwell instance is different, it is necessary for you to set up the buttons to work with your specific one-step actions. To do this: 1. Click on Dashboards and select Edit Monsters Dashboard 2. Right click on each of the buttons and select Widget Properties 3. Navigate to the appropriate Action that needs to initiate for that particular button and click OK.
4. Complete this process for all the buttons within the theme: Get Help, Report Outage, Request Access and Knowledgebase. 5. If you would like to adjust the text shown on the dashboard, you can easily do that by clicking on the text you would like to change and making your edits in the upper left of your screen. Edit Text Here 6. When you are finished adjusting the theme, click OK in the lower right to save your changes.
Making It Live To make your new theme live in your browser client: 1. Open the Cherwell Administrator Client (the Orange Client). 2. Click Site Manager on the left. 3. Select the site you are going to use this template for and click the pencil in the toolbar to edit. 4. The Properties screen will open. Click on Display on the left. 5. On the Display screen in the Startup section, next to the Show on Login option, click the icon. Select Dashboards on the left of the Choose Action Screen and navigate to the Executive Suite dashboard and click OK.
6. Click OK on the Display screen. 7. Open a web browser and navigate to your Cherwell Web Client. After logging in your portal homepage should now display your new theme. (A server restart may be required to see changes.) 8. With the Monsters theme, you may wish to remove the out-of-box menu bar. To do so, open the Cherwell Administrator Client, Click Site Manager on the left. Select the site and click the pencil in the toolbar to edit as we did before. This time you will select Menu on the left and uncheck the Show menu option and click OK 9. You may also like to adjust the banner at the top of the page.
