OVERVIEW You can control your Ketra lights through Alexa by enabling the Ketra Light Control skill from within the Alexa app. PREREQUISITES & RECOMMENDATIONS You must update your N4 hub firmware to 1.14.1 or greater and enable remote access using Design Studio 1.8 or greater. Once you enable the skill from within the Alexa app, it will require you to link to a Ketra account. If your usual Ketra account has a large number of installations with remote access enabled, it is recommended that you create a separate Ketra account and share your home installation with the new Ketra account. Otherwise you will likely end up with conflicting device names and Alexa may get confused. PAGE 3
INSTRUCTIONS Create a Ketra Design Studio N4-based installation containing the lights you want to control. Ensure that the hubs have at minimum firmware version of 1.14.1, and enable remote access for the installations. GET STARTED WITH ALEXA 1. Download the Amazon Alexa mobile app and log in with your Amazon account. Make sure your Alexa-based device is linked to the same Amazon account 2. Enable the Ketra smart home skill by going to the Smart Home menu option in the app and clicking the Your Smart Home Skills link. This will take you to a search page where you will find the Ketra skill. (figs. 1 & 2) Figure 1 Figure 2 PAGE 4
INSTRUCTIONS 3. Enabling the skill will take you to a login page where you can log into the Ketra Design Studio account containing the installations you d like to control through Alexa. (fig. 3) 4. Once your account is linked you can return to the Smart Home section of the Alexa app and discover your devices. (fig. 4) This will populate a device for every keypad button and group in your installations. Figure 3 Figure 4 5. DEVICE DISCOVERY Once you are linked to your Ketra account within Alexa, you must perform a device discovery from within the Smart Home section of the Alexa App to populate your devices. The Ketra skill will populate a device for every lamp group and every keypad button for every remoteenabled installation associated with the linked Ketra account. The devices will be named either lamp-group-name or keypad-name button-name depending on whether the device is a lamp group or a keypad button. From within the Alexa mobile app, you may change the name as desired, or forget any undesired device. This is particularly useful if your group, keypad or button names are unpronounceable or are duplicated. PAGE 6
DEVICE CONTROL Just ask Alexa: Turn on the hallway light Dim the living room to 20% Set the living room to warm white Make the living room gold Turn the desk lamp to cool white Turn on Movie Time Turn on Energize in the Living Room See the Amazon help page here for a list of voice commands you can use to control your devices. You may also control devices from within the Alexa mobile app, but this interface does not allow you to set a lamp to a color or color temperature; only on/off and brightness is supported. Important: When you enable smart home skills on your Alexa device, anyone speaking to your device can operate those products.
