Introduction This guide should be used as a reference during/after a CCH Legal Professional training session. CCH Tracker News, if part of your CCH Internet Research NetWork subscription content, provides daily updates of recent developments in designated topics. Each user chooses their desired Tracker News database(s), topics, search expression, and when available document types and jurisdictions. An optional daily e-mail option can send all your Tracker News results right to your desktop. Or you can use CCH@Hand to view Tracker News items on demand. Databases with Daily Updates Each day, as they are made available, individual news stories are posted to a select group of databases within CCH library tabs. The database titles (e.g., Daily Document Updates, Federal Tax Day, Tracker Daily) and holding periods (e.g., 90 days to 1.5 years) for these databases vary. Several methods can be used to monitor recent updates to these databases: o Some of these databases provide browse-able menu topics, for example SEC Tracker Daily, with most recent updates listed at top o A search can be conducted to look for specific term(s), with optional date range used to focus the search within a specific time frame o Customized searches can be created, called Tracker News Alerts, to automatically monitor new developments. Adding Tracker News Searches 1. From the MY CCH tab click Set up News Tracker Searches (or from within Preferences), then click the Add Tracker Searches tab 2. Within a desired Tracker, select from available topics, document types, jurisdictions, and other Search Options (search expression, thesaurus, etc.) Note: leaving all Topics unchecked will select all items by default. 3. Click +Add to save your customized Tracker News search. 4. optional - When prompted, enter a label for your new Tracker News search click OK or Cancel. 5. Click Return to Main Menu to view the MY CCH tab and see if any results are available from today s posting for this new Tracker News search. Tracker Searches are displayed in order of creation, with the most recently added/modified Tracker News search listed at bottom. Accessing Tracker News Daily postings that meet your Tracker News criteria can be accessed several ways: o On your My CCH tab, o Under the Tax Tracker tab (CCH Tax Research NetWork only), o Received via email, o Accessed on demand from your desktop via CCH@Hand (requires separate one-time installation). Setting up Optional E-Mail Delivery 1. From My CCH tab click Sign up for Email Delivery (or from within Preferences - click Tracker Email Options tab). 2. Select Yes for Would you like to receive Tracker email? 3. Enter/verify your proper email address 4. Modify settings and choose desired email format 5. Click Apply Changes to save these settings. Notes: A single email address entry is used for all Tracker News Alerts within each CCH IRN engine. Each engine sends one email per day, with all Tracker results. Managing Your Tracker News Searches You can modify or delete your Tracker News saved searches at any time. 1. From either the My CCH tab or from within Preferences click Edit Trackers and View Archives Change the date parameters and click on a Tracker News title link to search for updates within a specified time frame Click Modify to open Tracker News Edit page. Make changes to criteria, then click Apply Changes to re-save your updated Tracker News search Click Delete to remove a Tracker News search Change the number of days (90 days maximum) and click Send Email to have all your Tracker News results for a specified time frame sent to the current email address.
