Package Contents HN-APN2 Power Adapter 1 x RJ-45 LAN Cable Quick Installation Guide Minimum System Requirements PC with Ethernet Port and/or Wireless Wireless Adapter for non Wireless-enabled PCs Modes of Operation This device operates in different modes depending on the position of the Sliding Switch at the bottom of the device. Reset Router AP Client Router Mode This mode is Default Mode for all users who need to simply and fast connect to Internet wirelessly. Why to use this mode? 1. You have Internet cable in home coming from neighborhood but you need Wireless Connection in your home. 2. You have ADSL MODEM with no Wireless Connection. You need wireless connection in your home. 1
3. You have ADSL MODEM with Wireless Connection in home but it does not cover the entire home. You need another Wireless Access Point to cover uncovered areas. You will link both devices with a cable. In all cases, you do not have any restrictions for IP settings. You only need to connect to Internet wirelessly. Hardware Installation 1. Before connecting device to power, make sure the Slide Switch is at Router Position. 2. If you have a cable coming from neighborhood, connect it to the LAN/WAN port of LogN HN-APN2. If you have an ADSL MODEM in home, Connect one end of a LAN cable to the LAN port of your ADSL MODEM and connect the other end to the LAN/WAN port of LogN HN-APN2. 3. Connect the power adapter to the power socket. 4. Switch ON your LogN HN-APN2. 5. Wait until: PWR Led is ON (Stable/Yellow) SYS Led is ON (Stable/Yellow) WLAN Led is ON (Stable/Yellow) LAN/WAN Led is ON (Blinking fast/yellow) 6. To connect your PC to LogN HN-APN2, make sure your PC wireless is ON, search for LogN in your PC wireless list, connect. 7. Make sure that your PC Operating System (ex. Windows) tells you are connected to LogN HN-APN2 wirelessly. Check the IP of your PC, it will be in the range of 192.168.123.x of the HN-APN2. 2
Hardware Configuration 8. Open your Internet Browser (ex. Internet Explorer), Type any address www.google.com, The HN-APN2 will direct you to the address 192.168.123.254 and to the LogN HN-APN2 Configuration page. 9. You can go Easy Setup Wizard for fast configuration of internet connection, wireless name and wireless security. Press Start to go through the Easy Setup Wizard. Advanced Setup for experienced users. Press Advanced Setup Easy Setup Wizard is Default Mode for all users who need to simply and fast connect to Internet wirelessly. 3

Setting-Up Internet Connection 11. From Internet Type drop menu, select DHCP to setup your Internet Source type. Press Next. 12. This page is to change the User/Password of the LogN HN-APN2 configuration page. You can skip this page to keep it at its default admin/password. Press Next. 5
Changing Wireless Name & Securing Wireless Connection 13. Here you will change the name of your Wireless Network and will secure your Wireless Connection against unauthorized people. Type the Wireless Name (SSID) you want your Wireless Network appear with. If you leave it, it will default to LogN. 14. Type the password for your Wireless Connection, Make it difficult for intruders to guess. The password can be of any character but it should not be less than 8 characters. Press Next. 6
15. Now you are done, Press Done. Your connection will normally cut for the name of wireless was changed and for a wireless password was introduced. Search your PC wireless list for the new name, Type the password when prompted to type it and Connect. Congratulations, you are connected to Internet! 7
Access Point Mode Do not use this mode if you need to simply and fast connect to Internet wirelessly. Use Router Mode instead. Why to use this mode? 1. You have Internet cable in home coming from neighborhood but you need Wireless Connection in your home. 2. You have ADSL MODEM with no Wireless Connection. You need wireless connection in your home. 3. You have ADSL MODEM with Wireless Connection in home but it does not cover the entire home. You need another Wireless Access Point to cover uncovered areas. You will link both devices with a cable. Here you have some restrictions for IP settings. You need your PCs take IP addresses from original ADSL MODEM and not from HN-APN2. Hardware Installation 1. Before connecting device to power, make sure the Slide Switch is at AP Position. 2. If you have a cable coming from neighborhood, connect it to the LAN/WAN port of LogN HN-APN2. If you have an ADSL MODEM in home, Connect one end of a LAN cable to the LAN port of your ADSL MODEM and connect the other end to the LAN/WAN port of LogN HN-APN2. 3. Make sure that your PC Operating System (ex. Windows) tells you are connected to LogN HN-APN2 wirelessly. Check the IP of your PC, it will be in the range of the original ADSL MODEM. Congratulations, you are connected to Internet! Hardware Configuration 8. Remove the cable connected to HN-APN2 LAN/WAN port. 9. Set your PC wireless connection IP to manual IP in the range of 192.168.123.x for example you can set it to 192.168.123.200. Set your Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0 9
10. Open your Internet Browser (ex. Internet Explorer), Type 192.168.123.254 in your address bar. This will direct you to the LogN HN-APN2 Configuration page. 10
Changing Wireless Name 11. Select Wireless >> Basic 12. Here you will change the name of your Wireless Network. Type the Wireless Name (SSID) you want your Wireless Network appear with. If you leave it, it will default to LogN. Press Apply Changes. 11
13. Press Reboot Later if you want to continue secure your wireless network. 14. Press Reboot Now if you do not want to secure your wireless network. Your connection will normally cut for the name of wireless was changed. Search your PC wireless list for the new name, Connect. Securing Wireless Connection 15. Select Wireless >> Security. 16. Select from Encryption drop menu WPA. Make sure Authentication Mode is Personal and WPA Cipher Suite is AES and Preshared Key Format is Pass-Phrase. 12
17. Type the Password for your Wireless Connection in Pre-Shared Key, Make it difficult for intruders to guess. The password can be of any character but it should not be less than 8 characters. Press Apply Changes. 18. Press Reboot Now. Your connection will normally cut for a wireless password was introduced. Search your PC wireless list for your wireless name, Type the password when prompted to type it and Connect. 13
19. Once finished with all configurations, reconnect the LAN Cable to the LAN/WAN port of HN-APN2, return your PC Wireless IP to Automatic Assign. Congratulations, you are connected to Internet! You will have no further access to HN-APN2 Configuration page unless you remove the LAN cable from the LAN/WAN port of HN-APN2 and change your PC IP address to Manual IP. 14
Client Mode Why to use this mode? 1. You have a Desktop Computer/Dreambox Dish Receiver that only has RJ-45 LAN port for internet connection. It has no Wireless Connection. You need to make it connect wirelessly to your remote Wireless Access Point. You need a device to help connect wirelessly with your remote Wireless Access Point from one side and to give internet to your Desktop Computer/Dreambox Dish Receiver through Cable. Hardware Installation 1. Before connecting device to power, make sure the Slide Switch is at Client Position. 2. Connect a LAN cable to the LAN/WAN port of LogN HN-APN2. Connect the other side of the cable to your Desktop PC RJ-45 LAN port. If you are going to use Client Mode for your Dreambox, start first the configuration phase of HN-APN2 with a PC. 3. Connect the power adapter to the power socket. 4. Switch ON your LogN HN-APN2. 5. Wait until: PWR Led is ON (Stable/Yellow) SYS Led is ON (Stable/Yellow) WLAN Led is ON (Stable/Yellow) LAN/WAN Led is ON (Blinking fast/yellow) 15
Hardware Configuration 6. Set your PC LAN connection IP to manual IP in the range of 192.168.123.x for example you can set it to 192.168.123.200. Set your Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0 16
7. Open your Internet Browser (ex. Internet Explorer), Type 192.168.123.254 in your address bar. This will direct you to the LogN HN-APN2 Configuration page. 8. Press Site Survey to search for your remote Access Point you need to connect to. 9. Check the Radio Button at Select for your preferred remote Access Point. Press Next 17
10. Type the wireless password for your remote Access Point, Press Finished. 11. Once finished with all configurations, return your PC Wireless IP to Automatic Assign. 18
12. Make sure that your PC Operating System (ex. Windows) tells you are connected to LogN HN-APN2 through cable. Check the IP of your PC, it will be in the range of the remote Access Point. Congratulations, you are connected to Internet! You can use your Dreambox directly by connecting the LAN Cable to its RJ-45LAN Port. You will have no further access to HN-APN2 Configuration page unless you connect back the cable to PC and you change your PC IP address to Manual IP. 19
Repeater Mode Why to use this mode? 1. You have ADSL MODEM with Wireless Connection in home but it does not cover the entire home. You need another Wireless Access Point to cover uncovered areas. The second device links wirelessly to the first device and repeats the original wireless signal to uncovered areas. You do not need any cables between the two devices. Hardware Installation & Configuration 1. Repeat all steps in Client Mode from step 1 to step 10. 2. Once back from: Select Wireless >> Basic 20
3. Check the check box Enable Universal Repeater Mode (Acting as AP and Client simultaneously) 21
4. Type the wireless name of the HN-APN2 Repeater you want to see it with in SSID of Extended Interface, Press Apply Changes and then in next screen, Press Reboot Later if you still need to secure the Wireless Connection of the LogN HN-APN2 Repeater, Press Reboot Now if you do not want to secure it. 22
Securing Wireless Connection 5. Select Wireless >> Security. 6. From the drop menu of Select SSID, select the Wireless Name of the repeater and not the wireless name of the remote Access Point. 23
7. Select from Encryption drop menu WPA. Make sure Authentication Mode is Personal and WPA Cipher Suite is AES and Preshared Key Format is Pass-Phrase. 8. 11. Make sure that your PC Operating System (ex. Windows) tells you are connected to LogN HN-APN2 through cable. Check the LAN IP of your PC, it will be in the range of the remote Access Point. Congratulations, you are connected to Internet! You can connect wirelessly to LogN HN-APN2 Repeater by its Wireless name and Wireless Password. You got to remove the Cable from LAN/WAN port of HN-APN2 before your connect wirelessly. Check the wireless IP of your PC, it will be in the range of the remote Access Point. You will have no further access to HN-APN2 Configuration page unless you connect the cable again to the LAN/WAN port of HN-APN2 and change your PC IP address to Manual IP. 26
