Chapter 1: Migration overview Overview The migration process from INTUITY AUDIX R5.1 to Communication Manager Messaging Federal R6.0 involves the backup and migration of the following types of data: Subscribers Recorded names Personal greetings Messages Mailing lists Class of service records Networked computers Prerequisites Determining the release version of Intuity Audix Prerequisites PuTTy application on your laptop computer. 1. Open a PuTTY window. 2. Select SSH. 3. In the Host Name (or IP address) field, type the IP address of the INTUITY AUDIX R5.1 server. 4. Log in as tsc. 5. At the CMM@servername prompt, type lu v. Migration overview Important: Ensure that the Intuity Audix release version is R5.1-1.43.0. Determining the languages installed on the INTUITY AUDIX R5.1 server 1. Open a browser window. 2. In the Address field, enter the IP address of the INTUITY AUDIX R5.1 server. 3. Log in as tsc. 4. Click Software Management. 5. Click Intuity Software Display. 6. Note the language files installed on the server. Note: During migration install the language files on the Communication Manager Messaging Federal R6.0 server. Verifying the number of subscribers on the Intuity Audix R5.1 system The Intuity Audix R5.1 system must not exceed 125,000 subscribers. 1. Log in to the Intuity Audix R5.1 system using PuTTy. 2. On the main menu, select Audix Administration > Type list measurements feature day > Subscribers. Prerequisites FTP server requirement Ensure that you have an FTP server connected to the network. The system requires the server to transfer backup data. Removing AMIS nodes on the Intuity Audix R5.1 system 1. On the main menu, select Networking administration > Remote machine administration > AMIS Analog Machine Administration. 2. Select a machine. 3. Press Delete. 4. Select yes. 5. Press Enter. Note: Communication Manager Messaging does not support the AMIS analog networking to exchange voice mail messages between remote systems. This is because it uses QSIG integration and does not have analog ports. Important: You also need to remove the following DCP remote machine nodes: 9600 connection type 56K connection type 64K connection type DCP node profiles are not supported on Communication Manager Messaging. Chapter 2: Backing up data on the INTUITY AUDIX R 5.1 server Log in to the Intuity Audix R5.1 system 1. Open a PuTTY window. 2. Select SSH. 3. In the Host Name (or IP address) field, type the IP address of the INTUITY AUDIX R5.1 server. 4. Log in as tsc. 5. Enter the terminal type as vt100. 6. Enter Vex. The system displays the Intuity Main Menu screen. Verifying system-level settings on Intuity Audix Release 5.1 server Ensure that settings for each of the options on the Intuity Audix Release 5.1 server and the Communication Manager Messaging R6.0 server match. 1. Open an SSH session from PuTTY to the Intuity Audix R5.1 server. 2. Select Audix Administration and press Enter. 3. Note down the settings for each option on the change system-parameters page. Verifying password length on the Intuity Audix Release 5.1 server Verifying password length on the Intuity Audix Release 5.1 server 1. Log in to the Intuity Audix R5.1 server using SSH. 2. On the main menu, select Audix Administration. 3. Enter change system-parameters features. 4. On page 1, in the Log-In Parameters field, note the length of the password in the Minimum Password Extension field. Next steps Ensure that the password length set for the Intuity Audix R5.1 server matches the corresponding setting for the Communication Manager Messaging R6.0 server. Administering the FTP server 1. Open a browser. 2. In the Address field, type the IP address of the INTUITY AUDIX R5.1 server. 3. Press Enter. 4. On the INTUITY AUDIX Multimedia Messaging System Web page, click Network Backup. 5. Click Administer FTP Server. 6. On the INTUITY AUDIX Multimedia Messaging System Web page, click Network Backup 2. Click Backup. 3. Except for the AUDIX Announcements data type, select all data types. Important: Ensure you do not backup announcement data. 4. Click Backup. Important: If you do not back up a data type, later in the migration process you need to manually restore that data type to the Communication Manager Messaging Federal R6.0 server. Downloading announcement sets for Communication Manager Messaging You need to manually install the announcement sets on the Communication Manager Messaging server. 1. Open a browser. 2. Chapter 4: Migrating backup data to the Communication Manager Messaging server Stopping Communication Manager Messaging 1. On the System Management Web interface, click Administration > Messaging. 2. In the Utilities field, click Stop Messaging. Downloading backup files from the INTUITY AUDIX R5.1 server 1. On the System Management Web interface, click Administration > Server (Maintenance). 2. In the Miscellaneous field, click Download files. 3. Select one of the following methods to download the backup files: File(s) to download from the machine I m using to connect to the server. File(s) to download from the LAN using URL. 4. Depending on the method you select, perform either of the following: Click Browse to download the messaging tar files. Enter the URL to download the messaging tar files and enter the host name and domain name of the proxy server. 5. Click Download. Migrating backup data to the Communication Manager Messaging server Important: The number of.tar files may be more than one. The number depends on the file set downloaded while backing up the files on the INTUITY AUDIX R5.1 server. 6. Repeat Step 4 if there are more than four backup files to download. Moving the backup files to a temporary folder on the messaging server 1. Open a PuTTy session. 2. Select SSH. 3. Enter IP address of the messaging server 4. Log in as craft. 5. Type /vs/bin/mv_backup_files to move the backup tar files from ~ftp/pub into a temporary folder on the messaging server. Restarting the messaging application 1. Checking the progress of migration Checking the progress of migration 1. In the telnet window, type cd /migrate/ia5.1/log. 2. Type tail f migration_log. The system displays a log indicating the progress of the database migration. When this log stops growing, and you see Removing temporary files, the next phase of the migration begins. 3. Type control-c to terminate the tail command. 4. Type tail f audixupg.out. The system displays the names and messages that get transcoded from CELP to G.711. After the transcoding is complete, the database upgrades to the current release. When this log stops growing and you see Update operation complete, the migration is complete and messaging starts automatically. 5. Type control-c to terminate the tail command. 6. Type tail f migration_log. When this log stops growing, and you see The migration has completed, migration is complete. 7. Type control-c to terminate the tail command. Restarting the system 1. Open a compatible Internet browser on your computer. Currently System Management Interface only supports Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 and 8.0. 2. Enter the IP address of the Communication Manager virtual machine. 3. On the System Management Interface Web page, select Administration. 4. Click Server (Maintenance). 5. In the navigation pane, click Server > Shutdown Server. The system displays the Shutdown This Server Web page. 6. Select Immediate Shutdown. Migrating backup data to the Communication Manager Messaging server 7. Select the Restart server after shutdown check box. 8. Click Shutdown. The Communication Manager virtual machine restarts. The server takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to restart. Testing if migration is successful 1. Log in to the System Management Web interface. 2. Click Administration > Messaging. 3. In the Software Management field, select List Messaging Software. 4. Verify that the version of messaging is valid and it is the upgraded version. 5.
