These instructions will guide you through the installation and first time usage of the Dynamic Work Order System (DWOS) software. It is strongly recommended that you follow these procedures step-by-step. Prerequisites The DWOS Server and DWOS Client software require Windows-based systems. DWOS Server Minimum System Requirements: Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or higher 4 GB RAM minimum 100 MB Hard Drive with at least 50 MB of free disk space Network access to the Internet. Connection to www.getdwos.com required. Microsoft.Net Framework 4.0 Note: Windows 7 can be used for smaller job shops that are not running Windows Server. Windows 7 will not allow the installation of the Customer Portal. Additional Requirements: Microsoft SQL Server Express 2012 (Included in install) DWOS Client Minimum System Requirements: Microsoft Windows 7 or higher Intel or AMD Dual Core or Higher CPU (Recommended) 4 GB RAM minimum At least 85 MB of free disk space Microsoft.Net Framework 4.0 Network access to the DWOS Server DWOS Server Installation The DWOS Server installer contains an installation wizard that will guide you through the setup process. The installation can be customized, however the default values provided will be sufficient for a successful install. 1. Download the DWOS Server software from the DWOS customer site at www.getdwos.com. Login with your customer credentials (i.e. user name and password). 2. Once the software is downloaded to your system, launch the DWOS Server setup by double-clicking the setup file in Windows Explorer and following the wizard instructions. 3. Select the installation folder that will contain the DWOS Server software. Click [ ] to browse the file system and choose a different folder, if desired. Click the checkbox to 4 P age

agree with License Terms and Conditions to continue the installation. Click Next to continue. 4. On the Features tab, select the features to be installed. Click the Installation tab to verify the installation folder or click Install to continue. a. DWOS Server DWOS Server software component. b. Administration Utility Provides license activation, server administration, and database configuration. c. Customer Portal Provides a website for external users to log in and view the current processing status of all orders, re-print COC s, and run various reports. Review the Customer Portal section prior to installing this option. Note: The installation can be run again in the future to choose additional options (e.g. install the Customer Portal). Important: Review the Customer Portal section for requirements prior to installing the Customer Portal. 5 P age

5. On the Installation Folder tab, verify the installation folder that will contain the DWOS Server software. Click Install to continue. 6 P age

6. The wizard will proceed with the installation of the DWOS Server software. After the DWOS Server installation has completed successfully, Click Finish. Note: After installation, it will be necessary to run the DWOS Administration Utility to activate your DWOS license and install the database. See the DWOS Server Configuration section for steps to complete this process. 7 P age

DWOS Server Configuration Use the DWOS Server Administration Utility to administer the DWOS Server, license, and database configuration for your site. 1. Launch the DWOS Server Administration Utility via one of two ways: a. Double-click the file in Windows Explorer. b. Click Start All Programs Dynamic Software Solutions DWOS Server Administration Utility. Note: DWOS requires administrator rights for configuration. Right-click the file and choose Run as administrator. The DWOS Server Administration Utility will be displayed. First Time Installation: A wizard will guide you through the process of completing the following tasks the first time the DWOS Server Administration Utility is launched after a new DWOS Server installation. Installing the DWOS data Configuring the firewall Starting the DWOS Server service (Windows service) DWOS Installation Guide 2. Activate License The DWOS license can be activated via your internet connection by entering the required customer and license key information which was provided when purchasing the software. Click Activate and after a short moment a message will be displayed to confirm success or failure of the activation process. Click Next to continue. 3. Install Database Server The DWOS database requires Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (Express or higher edition) which will be downloaded and installed or DWOS can use an existing SQL Server 2012 database at your site. a. To install SQL Server Express 2012, check the option and then click Install. b. To use an existing Microsoft SQL Server 2012 database, check the option and then click Next. Proceed to Step 5. Note: You may install SQL Server Express 2012 side-by-side with an existing SQL Server installation. 9 P age

4. SQL Server Installation The installation of SQL Server Express 2012 will begin after the download is complete. Wait for the SQL Server Express 2012 installation process to finish and then click Next to continue. No action is required until SQL Server is fully installed. 5. Database Connection The database connection must be validated and is automatically configured for you if DWOS installed SQL Server. Once finished, click Next to continue. a. To validate the database, click Validate. The database name and status will be displayed. b. To configure the database connection, click Configure. The Database Connection dialog will be displayed with options for connecting to the database. This will only be required if you re connecting to an existing database server. Click Test Connection to verify the connection. Click OK to save any changes and Close to dismiss the dialog. 10 P age

Note: The connection that is defined for connecting to the DWOS database is also passed to all DWOS clients (i.e. if you use Active Directory to login on the database server then the clients will use Active Directory). Important: Record the database connection and configuration information in the table below for future reference. 6. DWOS Data Installation To install the DWOS data, choose the Database Name and Data Folder that contains the data. The wizard will automatically fill-out the information for you, however if you want to change the name of the DWOS database or install files to a different data folder, then enter in the correct information. Click Install to begin the installation of the data into your database server. 7. Firewall DWOS requires certain ports and to be open in order for the DWOS Clients to connect to the DWOS Server. These ports (8080 and 8081) may require an exception to be added to your firewall software. Click Add Exception to configure firewall exceptions. Click Next to continue. 8. DWOS Server The DWOS Server is installed as a Windows service and needs to be running in order for DWOS Clients to connect to it. Click the Run button to start the DWOS Server service. Click Next to continue. 12 P age

9. Summary The DWOS setup summary will confirm the successful completion of the wizard and allow you to continue with the installation of the DWOS Clients. Click Finish and proceed to the DWOS Client Installation instructions. 10. DWOS Administration Utility The DWOS Administration Utility will allow you to monitor and manage your DWOS installation. Tools to configure your license, database and server are provide and shown below. a. License Activation DWOS license information is shown in the License Activation area. Licenses can be activated by clicking Configure and entering the required information which was provided when purchasing the software in the Activation dialog. Click Activate and a message will be displayed to confirm success or failure of the activation process. 13 P age

Note: Hovering over the license usage text will show a tooltip with all users who are currently logged in. b. Database Information and current status of the DWOS database is displayed in the Database area. To configure the database connection, click Configure and the Database Connection dialog will be displayed with options for connecting to the database. When installing the database through the wizard, the information will be filled-out automatically. If you re connecting to your existing database then enter the required information. Click Test Connection to verify the connection. Click OK to save any changes and Close to dismiss the dialog. 14 P age

c. Server DWOS Server information and current status is shown in the Server area. Click Configure to start or stop the DWOS Server service in Windows. The latest available DWOS Client version that is compatible with the DWOS Server is shown in red. Administrators can enter a minimum client version that will require all DWOS Clients to upgrade to that version the next time the client is started. Note: The version numbers for DWOS Server and DWOS Clients must match on the first three numbers which represent the database version. The fourth number represents the build number which can be different. For example 14.2.1.XX 15 P age

DWOS Server Upgrade The DWOS Administration Utility can be used to check for available DWOS updates which can be downloaded and installed on your server. 1. Run the DWOS Administration Utility and select Tools > Check for Updates. 2. The DWOS Administration Utility will check for any available updates. If your software is up to date a message will be displayed. If an update is found, then the Updates for DWOS Server dialog will be displayed. Click Next to download the update. 16 P age

3. Once the download has completed, the DWOS Server installer will launch allowing you to install the update. Refer to the DWOS Server Installation for instructions. Note: After installation, it will be necessary to run the DWOS Administration Utility to continue the server and database upgrade process. When the DWOS Server Administration Utility is launched, an upgrade wizard will automatically be displayed to guide you through the upgrade process. 4. Stop DWOS Server The DWOS Server service needs to be stopped in order to perform the upgrade. Click Stop and after a short moment, the service will be stopped. Click Next to continue. 5. Connect to Database The database connection must be validated to perform the upgrade. If necessary, the connection configuration can be viewed and modified. Click Next to continue. a. To validate the database, click Validate. The database status will be displayed. b. To configure the database connection, click Configure. The Database Connection dialog will be displayed with options for connecting to the database. Click Test Connection to verify the connection. Click OK to save any changes and Close to dismiss the dialog. 17 P age

6. Backup DWOS Database The database should be backed up before the server is upgraded. The wizard will attempt to backup the data automatically; however a manual backup can be performed by entering the Backup Folder location and clicking Backup. Click Next to continue. 7. Upgrade DWOS Database The database will be upgraded from the previous version to the latest version. Click Upgrade to proceed with the upgrade process. Information on the upgrade progress will be shown in the status area. Click Next to continue. 18 P age

8. Start DWOS Server After the upgrade, the DWOS Server needs to be started again. Click the Start button to start the DWOS Server service. Click Finish. 19 P age

DWOS Client Installation DWOS Installation Guide The DWOS Client installer contains an installation wizard that will guide you through the setup process. The default values provided will be adequate for a successful install. 1. Download the DWOS Client software from the DWOS customer site at www.getdwos.com. No login is required to download. Ensure you download the appropriate client version. 2. Once the software is downloaded to your system, launch the DWOS Client setup by double-clicking the setup file in Windows Explorer and following the wizard instructions. Note: DWOS client does not require adminstrator rights and will install to the local profile running the installer. Each user who logs into the machine will need to install DWOS separately. 3. Select the installation folder that will contain the DWOS Client software. Click [ ] to browse the file system and choose a different folder, if desired. Click the checkbox to agree with License Terms and Conditions to continue the installation. Click Next to continue. 4. On the Features tab, select the features to be installed. Click the Installation tab to verify the installation folder or click Install to continue. a. DWOS Client DWOS Client software component. b. DWOS Order CheckIn Installs a Windows system tray utility app that will provide the ability to check orders in without running the DWOS client. 20 P age

5. On the Installation Folder tab, verify the installation folder that will contain the DWOS Client software. Click Install to continue. Note: The installation can be run again in the future to choose additional options (e.g. install the DWOS Order CheckIn). 21 P age

6. The wizard will proceed with the installation of the DWOS Client software. After the DWOS Client installation has completed successfully, Click Finish. Note: The default administrator PIN number is 1324567 when runnng the DWOS client and connecting to the DWOS Server for the first time. 22 P age

DWOS Client Upgrade The DWOS Server can be configured to require a specific DWOS Client version. When DWOS Clients connect, they will be prompted to download the required version. The latest available DWOS Client updates can also be found by using the Check for Updates utility. Note: The version numbers for DWOS Server and DWOS Clients must match on the first three numbers which represent the database version. The fourth number represents the build number which can be different. For example 14.2.1.XX 1. The required version and latest available updates can be found through the process described below: a. Run the DWOS Client and login to the DWOS Server. If an upgrade is required, a message will be displayed. Proceed to Step B if the latest version is the version required by the DWOS Server. If a different version is required, download the required DWOS Client software from the DWOS customer site at www.getdwos.com. Login with your customer credentials (i.e. user name and password). b. Click Start All Programs DWOS Client Check for Updates. The Check for Updates utility will check for any available updates. If your software is up to date a message will be displayed. If an update is found, then the Updates for DWOS Client dialog will be displayed. Click Next to download the update and begin the installation process. 23 P age

2. Once the download has completed, the DWOS Client installer will launch allowing you to install the update. Refer to the DWOS Client Installation for instructions. 24 P age

Customer Portal The option to install the Customer Portal is available during the DWOS Server Installation. In order for the Customer Portal to be installed correctly, certain components must be installed and configured on Windows Server. Prerequisites: Internet Information Services (IIS) features are installed and configured properly User is an administrator.net 4 Framework is installed Note: The Customer Portal will be installed on the same machine as the DWOS Server when the DWOS Server and Customer Portal are both selected to be installed. Note: To install the Customer Portal on a different machine, run the DWOS Server installer on the machine and only select the option to install the Customer Portal. 1. Check the Windows Server Roles and if necessary, add the Web Server (IIS) role to the server. 25 P age

2. Check the Role Service and, if necessary, add the following Role Services to the Web Server (IIS): a. Select ASP.Net service under Application Development. b. Select Windows Authentication under Security. c. Select Dynamic Content Compression under Performance. d. Select IIS Management Console under Management Tools 3. Run the DWOS Server Installation and select the option to install the Customer Portal. After installation, IIS Manager can be used to verify that the Customer Portal is installed. Select Browse on the Default.aspx to launch the browser and view the Customer Portal site. 26 P age
