CA Datacom Tools - 15.0 CA Datacom Server New and Enhanced Features for 15.x 15.0 Welcome to Release 15.x of CA Datacom Server. This release was developed as part of the incremental release program. This program is a customer-interactive delivery model where new products features are developed and released regularly with customer input for immediate delivery and rapid implementation. This release is now considered a "complete" release, which is now supported under our support policy and terms as described here (https://support.ca.com/irj/portal /anonymous/phpsupcontent?contentid=%7bec7acf7b-7928-4a37-b8c4-d793f55cdc33%7d). The Release Notes section explains the key features and details for CA Datacom Server Versions 15.x (15.0, 15.1,and so on). Enhancements are provided by version and category. The following changes have been made to CA Datacom Server with this release. 15.0 (see page 5) User (see page 5) Removed (see page 6) The following new and enhanced features were available for 15.0 User DB_THREADS The new console command and Communication Utility (SVCOMPR) command, DB_THREADS, produces a report showing the number of times a given DB task was used to communicate with the MUF. By running this request, a snapshot is provided showing the number of times any one DB task was used. This report provides insight to the usage of the tasks that are attached to MUF by providing a DEPTH count. Fallover without Interruption The new RECONNECT_ATTEMPTS and RECONNECT_DELAYS startup options allow an instance of the CA Datacom Server mainframe region/address space to attempt to reconnect with a Multi- User Facility (MUF). This option allows an orderly termination of an active task and an attempt to reconnect to the MUF. Without this feature, if a return code 86 or 68 is received on a thread connected to the MUF, the instance of Server is terminated. RECONNECT_ATTEMPTS=xxxx is the parameter for the number of retries RECONNECT_DELAY=xxxx, is the number of minutes to wait between retries 02-May-2018 5/6
CA Datacom Tools - 15.0 JDBC Client Info Methods The JDBC methods of getclientinfoproperties, getclientinfo, and setclientinfo are now fully implemented. The implementation of these methods is accomplished by the creation of a CA Datacom/DB system table. Each time a setclientinfo method is invoked in a JDBC application, a connection row is created in the SRV_CLNTINFO system table. For more information about the SRV_CLNTINFO (SRC) table that tracks the JDBC application connections, see the System Tables Reference (https://docops.ca.com/display/datacom /System+Tables+Reference) page. JDBC Batch Processing JDBC driver changes were made to support batch processing methods like addbatch, executebatch, and clearbatch when you query DatabaseMetaData.supportsBatchUpdates(). MUF_EOJ_OK= The new MUF_EOJ_OK input parameter specifies the action to take when X_EOJ_OK_S_DELAY is defined in the CA Datacom /DB SYSIN parameter. This action is taken when X_EOJ_OK_S_DELAY has a value greater than 2 and less than 999. If MUF_EOJ_OK=YES, the CA Datacom /DB MUF terminates immediately if the only tasks within the MUF address space are held by CA Datacom Server.CA Datacom Server will terminate the next time Server attempts to post a request to the MUF or CA Datacom Server issues a connection timeout. ODBC Batch Processing The ODBC driver can now send data for multiple queries to run consecutively. You can combine multiple SQL statements and then execute them as a batch or execute a single SQL statement with multiple records to the server. This batch process applies only to the Insert, Update, and Delete statements. Applications using ODBC execute SQLGetInfo() to get information about the driver. One of the properties that can be queried is SQL_BATCH_SUPPORT. The value SQL_BS_ROW_COUNT_EXPLICIT is returned to indicate that queries affecting row count such as Insert, Update, and Delete can be executed as a batch. ODBC 3.8 Conformance Level The ODBC driver currently conforms to 3.8 standards. If you query the version of the driver by calling SQLGetInfo with SQL_DRIVER_ODBC_VER as InfoType, this version returns 03.80 as the result. You can also set SQL_ATTR_ODBC_VERSION to SQL_OV_ODBC3_80 using the SQLSetEnvAttr function. The function call returns SQL_SUCCESS to indicate that the driver conforms to 3.80. PROTOCOL The startup option PROTOCOL= has changed to allow CCI, BOTH, and the new option TCP. PROTOCOL=TCP allows SVDBSPR to run with only TCP/IP communications. If this option is specified, SVCOMPR requires that both HOSTNAME= and PORT= be specified to communicate with the version of SVDBSPR that implements TCP as an option. Therefore, any workstation that connects to the Server mainframe region/address space uses TCP/IP exclusively. Removed The TCPIP DEBUG= parameter has been removed. If it is present, the Datacom Server fails to start with a DSV00090E - Invalid parameter on control statement error. 02-May-2018 6/6
