PROGRAMME OVERVIEW BSc (Hons) Information Technology is a comprehensive degree programme offered by the Department of Computer Science and Creative Technologies. It aims to provide theoretical as well as practical knowledge building on the specialist skills students acquired in the Higher Diploma/Associate Degree programme. The programme also aims to extend students knowledge by introducing current topics related to information technologies. This programme will enable students to deploy relevant competencies and knowledge in the computer-based information systems which will be essential in the changing technological, business, and social environment. In particular, this programme aims to: provide a broad-based coverage of the theory and practice of aspects of information technology; instil practical skills necessary for both initial employment as well as communicating with and comprehending other IT professionals in the application domain within the industry; develop an understanding of the role, capabilities and limitations in information technology and enable students to evaluate and select appropriate solutions for different situations; keep students updated on recent technological and theoretical developments; provide exposure to the body of research that underlies the use of computers and development of information technology; encourage students to uphold general professional, ethical and social standards; and enable students to pursue a career at management level in a range of organisations. COMPUTING AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS All candidates must hold HKCEE Grade C or HKDSE Level 3, or IELTS 6.0, or equivalent. (Holders of a VTC Higher Diploma are considered to meet the English proficiency requirement.) ASSESSMENT Various assessment methods are used, including laboratory works, coursework assignments, presentations, written examinations and project. Examinations are held at the end of the modules.
