Initial operation We recommend you fully charge your MagniLink Visus magnifier before its first use. The charger is supplied with a range of international power connectors and you should choose the appropriate one for your country. Fit it as shown in opposite and rotate it until it clicks into position. Fit the cable to the charger and plug it into the end of the handle on the MagniLink Visus (A). The charging indicator around the power connector will illuminate in red as the MagniLink Visus is charging and will extinguish when charging is complete. A full charge takes about 3 hours. The unit is supplied with a neck strap that can be fitted to the end of the handle (B) if required.

Short press Image freeze Press for 3-seconds Display brightness Focus near/far Image mode Battery level Change artificialcolour Magnification level Illumination on/off

Switching on/off Slide the power switch (C) forwards to turn on the unit. The LED lights on the underside will illuminate and an image will appear on the screen. Place the unit over the item you want to magnify with the screen centred over the area of interest. You will need to raise or lower the unit to find the sharpest focus. Magnification Repeatedly pressing the button (D) will cycle through the three levels of magnification. You can choose the level that best suits you for the size text you are viewing. Image mode Repeatedly pressing the button (E) will cycle between the various image modes: full-colour, white-onblack and black-on-white and artificial-colour. You should choose the mode that gives you the best image for what you are viewing. The MagniLink Visus will re-use your last magnification, image mode and focus settings when next powered on.

Focus button There are times you may wish to locate a specific area of interest on a page. The button (F) will set the focus of the lens to a greater distance thereby allowing you to raise the unit from the page and get a wider view of where you want to read. Pressing the button again will return to the close focus setting. Stability Leg The MagniLink Visus is provided with a flip out leg, located around the lens on the underside. Simply flip it out fully to help maintain the ideal distance from the item you are reading. Click it back in place when not in use. Image Freeze The MagniLink Visus has a facility to freeze the image that can be useful for hard-to-reach places or, for instance, bringing a phone

number to the phone. Press the button (G) and the image will freeze; press again to return to the live image. The frozen image is not stored and cannot be read out of the unit. Illumination To facilitate reading backlit objects such as mobile phones or a computer screen, the lighting can be turned off. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds to turn off the lights. Repeat to turn them back on or simply power the unit off and on again. Changing the artificial-colour You can choose between a number of false colour combinations if you wish. You first need to be using the artificial-colour image mode. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds until an indicator appears in the centre of the screen. Press the button to cycle through the options and when you are happy with your choice, press and hold the button again for 3 seconds to store your preference.

Battery level indicator Press and hold the button for 3 seconds and an indicator will appear on the screen indicating the remaining level of charge in the battery. If the battery is almost depleted the indicator will automatically appear in the centre of the screen. Changing the display brightness Press and hold the button for 3 seconds and the display will change brightness. There are three settings: 100%, 75% and 50%. The unit will remember the last level set and will restore it at power on. Automatic power-off After three minutes looking at an unchanging image, the MagniLink Visus will reduce its power consumption. The display will go black and the lighting will go off. If it notices movement, it will power back up again automatically. If no movement is detected for 8 minutes the unit will power off completely and require you to press a button to wake it. If the battery is depleted, the MagniLink Visus will power-off and will not power on again until it is charged.

Alternative charging The MagniLink Visus can be charged from the USB port of a computer or by many standard chargers for portable consumer devices. The connector used is an industry standard and all such chargers should be compatible though charging times will vary. Care instructions and warnings When cleaning the MagniLink Visus do not use soap solutions, solvents or abrasives. Do not immerse in water! Use the supplied cloth to remove fingerprints, etc. Heavier dirt can be removed with a damp cloth. Do not open the MagniLink Visus there are no user-serviceable parts inside. The LED lighting in the MagniLink Visus is exceptionally intense. Do not stare into the LED lighting for prolonged periods. At the end of its life, the MagniLink Visus should be recycled through a certified disposal facility. Do not incinerate.
