IRBNet for IACUC The Electronic Platform for Submission and Processing of Animals Study Documents Please see the attached information regarding the submission of your protocol via IRBNet for IACUC. NOTE: If you are preparing a new protocol submission, or a de novo triennial renewal, you should consult with the Attending Veterinarian (AV) during protocol development (prior to IRBNet submission). You must consult with the AV in planning of experimental procedures categorized as USDA Pain/Distress D and E. 1

Login Type www.irbnet.org in the address box of your browser. Enter your username and password and press Login. If you have not already registered on IRBNet, refer to the New User Registration Energizer. 3
Forms and Templates To access the forms needed to create your new project package, click on Forms and Templates. You will download the forms to your computer and fill out as applicable. The forms are the same as those that are available on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Program (IACUP) website. 4
Forms and Templates To access the IACUC forms, you will need to select IACUC Documents for Researchers from the dropdown menu. The next screen shot shows the forms that should appear for use in submitting your project package. 5
Forms and Templates Click on the blue title of the form that you need to complete. You will download the forms, save to your computer, and fill out as applicable. 6
Create New Project Once you have completed your document(s), you will upload it to IRBNet. Log back into IRBNet. Click on Create New Project. NOTE: A new project = protocol. A new package = an action (such as an amendment, annual progress report, or personnel amendment) within the same project. 7
Create New Project Complete required fields. Please ensure that the Principal Investigators name is correct. Click Continue. For an existing study, we recommend that you include the original protocol # in the title of the project, e.g., A- XXXXXX-X: Vertebrate Survey... For new a new study, proceed the title with IACUC: Vertebrate... IACUC: 8
Attach New Document Click on Add New Document. 9
Attach New Document Select the type of document from the first dropdown menu. Type a description of the document. Upload your document using the browse and attach functions. Indicate if this is an initial or a revised submission and With the date YYYY.MM.DD in format, e.g., 2012.02.14 Initial Protocol Submission, and 2012.02.20 Revised Initial Protocol Submission. Again, for an existing study, we recommend that you include the original protocol # in the title of the document, e.g., 2012.02.14.Initial Protocol Submission.A-XXXXXX-X 10
Attach New Document If you need to upload additional documents, repeat the previous steps. Then click on Share this package. Open and view file Open and view file Edit file in MS Word Delete file 11
Share this Project Your project must be shared with, and signed by, the head of your department or research unit as part of the approval process. You also can share with your Co-PI. 12
Share this Project Verify that UTEP is the highlighted institution and click Select Organization. 13
Share this Project Search for the users with who you wish to share your project. Search by last name. 14
Share this Project For each user you select, repeat the search process, give read only access, and type in appropriate comments. Click Save. Please log in on IRBNet, review, and sign as Co-PI or head of department/research unit. 15
Share this Project This screen summarizes everyone with whom you have shared your project. Next your will sign your project. Click Sign this Package. 16
Sign this Package Select your role and click Sign. Next you must electronically submit your package. 17
Sign this Package Please ensure that your department head also has signed your package prior to submission. Then, you can click Submit this Package. 18
Submit this Package Verify that UTEP IACUC is the highlighted Board and click Continue. 19
Submit this Package Select the Submission Type and add any necessary administrative comments. Click Submit. Note: In the Your Comments: box, you can add any necessary administrative comment, for example, on a new protocol, I have incorporated changes as recommended by the AV during primary veterinary review, or I have incorporated the modifications/clarification required to secure approval. 20
Submit this Package Success! You have electronically submitted your project package to UTEP s IACUC. Your package is automatically locked after submission. If you require changes prior to primary Veterinary or Board Review, contact the IACUC Administrator at iacuc@utep.edu. 21
Send Project Mail Optional: If you wish to send a project email in Outlook to the individual with whom you have Shared your project, just click on Send Project Mail. You will be taken to a page where you can type in your message. 22
