Section 1 Installing the x10data Smart Client Requirements A Windows Mobile (WM) device. Microsoft.NET Compact Framework v2.0 (CF2.0) installed on your WM device. (This can be downloaded and installed from the links shown below.) The x10data Mobile Access Instructions provided by your x10data Administrator. These instructions contain information about the Host website to which you will connect. Overview of the x10data Mobile Access Instructions Note: The following instructions are an example of the x10data Mobile Access Instructions that are emailed to you by your x10data Administrator. In the next section, these instructions include step-by-step screenshots to help during the first time setup. Dear [User Name]: As the x10data Administrator for (account), I have provided you access to the following role(s) within our organization: [Role Name 1] [Role Name 2] To access the role(s), please follow these simple steps: (Step-by-step instructions are available at: http://www.x10data.com/documents/x10data_smart_client_v7.0_windowsmobile_installation_guide.pdf). 1. From your compatible Windows Mobile device, select Start and then select Settings. 2. From the System tab, select About. 3. From the Device ID tab, enter a Device Name including your name (i.e. JSmithTreo) and press OK. 4. Open Internet Explorer and download the appropriate x10data Smart Client at go.x10data.com. If you already have x10data Smart Client installed on your device, skip to Step #5. 5. Select Start and then select Programs to launch the x10data Smart Client.
6. Review the Smart Client s Getting Started online help for Connecting to Host Services (refer to Step-bystep instruction link above). 7. From Menu, select File, and then Select Host. 8. Highlight the host Work. 9. From Commands, select Detail, and enter the following bolded Host info: Host Name: Site: Virtual Directory: Auto Logon: User ID: Password: Account: Work [website or IP address] x10mobilesvc [checked] [user id] [password] [account name] 10. From Commands, select Save to save the Host profile. 11. Select ESC or OK to return to the Host Lookup list. 12. Highlight the newly updated Host and press Enter. 13. Once connected to the Host, the title bar in the x10data Smart Client will reflect the name of the host service provider and your current role. 14. 4. Open Internet Explorer and download the appropriate x10data Smart Client at go.x10data.com. If you already have x10data Smart Client installed on your device, skip to Step #5.
5. Depending on your device, you might not be prompted to OPEN the file after it is saved to a location on your device. If you DO have the option to open the file after it downloads, then select that option and skip the following screenshots until you get to the next step. Otherwise, you will need to use the File Explorer (on the device) to find the downloaded file and open it. The following screenshots from a Windows Mobile 6 device illustrate this process.
6. Click OK to accept the Software License Agreement. If this is the first time that the Smart Client has been installed, you will also see three additional files installed. These files are for handling the connection to Microsoft s SQLCE database engine: a. sqlce.ppc.wce5.armv4i.cab b. sqlce.dev.enu.ppc.wc5.armv4i.cab c. sqlce.repl.ppc.wc5.armv4i.cab d. x10v7.wmpro.hires.cab
7. When the installation has completed, the x10data Smart Client will automatically start. To start the x10data Smart Client from the menu, select Start and then select Programs to launch the x10data Smart Client. 8. After the x10data Smart Client has finished initializing, you will see the Help form for Getting Started. Click the Menu.
9. From Menu, select File, and then Select Host. 10. Highlight the host Work. From Commands, select Detail.
11. Enter the following bolded Host info: Host Name: Site: Virtual Directory: Auto Logon: User ID: Password: Account: Work www.x10data.com x10mobilesvc [checked] [user id] *supplied by your administrator [password] *supplied by your administrator [account name] *supplied by your administrator
12. From Commands, select Save to save the Host profile. 13. Select ESC or OK (or click the x in the right-hand corner) to return to the Host Lookup list.
14. Highlight the newly updated Host and press Enter (or Commands, Select). 15. Once connected to the Host, the title bar in the x10data Smart Client will reflect the name of the host service provider and your current role.
16. Review the Test Plans for each role and you re on your way. To exit the x10data Smart Client, select Menu, File, Exit.
Section 2 Upgrading the x10data Smart Client The x10data Smart Client automatically updates itself whenever it detects a new version. Each time that the x10data Smart Client connects with a host, it checks to see if the host and the client are compatible. If an update is available, the host will indicate whether the update is optional, or required. You may always choose to reject an update, but you will not be able to communicate with that host it the update is required.
Section 3 Uninstalling the x10data Smart Client To remove x10data Smart Client, do the following: 1. From the Today screen, select Start and then select Settings. 2. Select the System tab, and then select Remove Programs.
3. Select x10data Smart Client and select Remove. Choose Yes. 4. Select ok in the upper right-hand corner to close the Settings Remove Programs window. Then select the X in the upper right-hand corner to close the Settings window.
5. The x10data Smart Client has been removed.
