Snipping Tool How to capture screenshots using Snipping Tool, and pin to Taskbar. Start the Standard Snipping Tool in Windows 1. Click the Start button. 2. Type Snipping Tool in the search bar. 3. Select (click) Snipping Tool from the list of results. Pinning to the Taskbar 1. Click the Start button. 2. Right click on Snipping Tool. 3. Select Pin to Taskbar. Note: This can also be done by dragging and dropping Snipping Tool from the Start menu to your Taskbar. Capture a Snip 1. Choose the area of your screen you want to capture 2. Click on the Snipping Tool icon 3. Click New 4. Choose type of snip Free-form Snip. Draw a free-form shape around an object. (Draw a line around the area you want to capture) Rectangular Snip. Drag the cursor around an object to form a rectangle. (Drag the cursor around the area you want to capture.) Window snip. Select an open window, such as a browser window or dialog box that you want to capture. (Select a window you want to capture) Full-screen snip. Capture the entire screen Page 3
After you capture a snip, it is automatically copied to the clipboard. From there you can save, annotate, share the snip or copy and paste to a document. Annotate a Snip After you capture a snip, you can write or draw on or around it by clicking the Pen or Highlighter buttons. Click on the Eraser button to remove the lines you've drawn. Save a Snip 1. After you capture a snip, select File > Save As. 2. In the Save As box, choose a location and Save As Type, type a file name, and click Save. Page 4
Share a Snip After you capture a snip, select File > Send To and select an option from the arrow menu that appears. Copy a Snip After you capture a snip, select Edit > Copy. This will copy the snip to the clipboard, then allow you to paste the snip into your document. Using the Print Screen Key How to capture screenshots using the Print Screen key on your keyboard. Keyboard Variations 1. Print Screen keys vary based on the keyboard. a. Print Screen may be abbreviated as Print Scrn, Prnt Scrn, PrtScrn, PrtScn, Prt Scr, Prt Sc or Pr Sc. b. Common position is in the upper right section next to Scroll Lock and Break (or Pause) or near the Function (F1-F12) keys. (see keyboard images below) Page 5

If you have one monitor at your workstation, press Print Screen key and it will capture the entire screen. 2. If you have multiple monitors at your workstation, ensure you click your mouse on the screen you want to screenshot and press the Alt+Print Screen keys simultaneously to capture the entire screen. 3. For smaller keyboards or laptops, press the FN (function) key simultaneously with the Print Screen key or special shift key along with the Print Screen. Paste Screenshot Image into Word 1. To paste your screenshot into a Word document press the CTRL+V keys simultaneously. Control key V key 2. Alternately, select Paste on the Home tab of your Ribbon. Page 6 Paste
Edit Images in Word Once an image is pasted in Word, you can resize it, realign it, and add styles to it. Resize Image 1. Click on the image (sizing handles will appear around the border of the image). 2. Drag the sizing handles until you ve achieved the size that you d like. 3. For a more standardized size (all images equal or similar in size), click on the image, then click the Picture Tools Format tab on your ribbon and adjust the height and/or width of your image in the Size group. Realign Image 1. Click on the image. 2. The Picture Tools Format tab will appear. Click the Align button and chose the image alignment option of your choice. 3. Alternately, select the Behind Text option from the Layout Options icon to the right of your image. Page 7
Note: The Behind Text and In Front of Text options will unlock the image to allow you to click and drag it within the document. 4. Click and drag the image to align it (Left, Center, or Right). Green Alignment Guide lines will appear to assist you with aligning the image. Image Styles 1. Click on image. 2. The Picture Tools Format tab will appear. Select a style from the Picture Styles group. 3. To add borders, the color of your choice, and the line weight of your choice, click on the image and select the Picture Border option from the Picture Styles group on your ribbon. Choose the color and line weight. Page 8
